    Rod Temperton proved that good music, well written, well orchestrated & sang is colour blind. He truly was in a class of his own & yes a genius in his own right. Yes his song writhing was just mind blowing!

      Well said! I was thinking how beautiful art is color blind, and the international band Heatwave represents the best in music making, transcending any political ideology, something to remember now more than ever here in the US

    Extremely talented songwriter. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I discovered that he has in fact written many MJ's big hits like "Baby Be Mine", "Off The Wall", "Thriller" and "Rock With You" among a few others. At first I felt a bit disappointed because I was sure that all those songs had been written by MJ himself, especially "Thriller", but then I realized that singers not necessarily write everything they sing. I've started to have a deep esteem for Temperton ever since. Very saddened by the news of his passing, he'll be missed ...

    • @Mrazmatmahmood
      @Mrazmatmahmood 7 лет назад +7

      Vylkeer Michael still wrote most of his biggest hits. 10 of his 14 US #1 . Rod Temperton certainly wrote some of his very best songs though, RIP.

    • @sharmarke187
      @sharmarke187 7 лет назад +8

      Michael Jackson wrote Don't stop till you get enough, Working day and night and co wrote Get on the floor from off the wall. 3 out of 10 songs from the album. He wrote Beat it, Billie Jean, Wanna be starting something, The girl is mine and co-wrote PYT from the Thriller album. 5 out of 9 songs on the album. On bad he wrote 9 out of 11 songs on the album with Man in the mirror and just good friends being the 2 songs that weren't written by him. From this you can see that Michael became more of a songwriter as he got older and more mature. Rod Temperton was an amazing songwriter though.

      A lot of MJs work was collaborative, as music should be. The fact of the matter is, it took a lightning strike to make Thriller - all the right talent in the right spot at the right time.

    • @Kemet3.0
      @Kemet3.0 Год назад

      It is true that Rod was a great writer... On Off The Wall and Thriller, he only wrote 3 wrong songs a piece.
      But, Michael wrote the biggest hits on both of his albums and was a mega star even before working with Temperton. The Jacksons just had a 2 year TV Show airing on national TV,
      Michael Jackson: Don't Stop Til You Get Enough and Working Day and Night on Off the Wall, and Billie Jean , and Beat It on Thriller were his biggest songs from those albums.

    My mind is melting down because my whole reality is being turned upside down. Not only because the crazy story of how last-second those lyrics for Vincent Price were written, but also because I always thought Michael Jackson was a tall dude. He always seemed to tower next to a lot of people. Yet, in this video at 3:32, it looks like Quincy Jones is much taller! So I'm thinking, is Quincy like 7 feet tall or something?? I Google it and it says Quincy Jones is only 5' 6". What?!? What is going on?!?!!

    Added Michael Jackson's personally owned promotional box set ( The Songs of Rod Temperton ) 30 of Rods songs to my personal Music Collection, what makes this unique is it was signed by Michael Jackson on the box, Love the Songs, especially No 6, keep it safe, Michael Jackson referring to disc 2, The lady in my life (Full Version and Michael has also signed Michael Jackson on disc 2 making this a double signature and the Box set is well sought after by MJ's Fans as i have been searching for this album for years as i collect Promotional copies and i was after that full version of the lady in my life as it cant be found in any other format as the short version went onto the thriller album. Rod Temperton is third on the list of the Greatest British composers, third only to Lennon and McCartney. This man was an Absolute genius.....

    • @marb7463
      @marb7463 Год назад

      Hi Chris , I believe he is in the Soul , funk scene, but I’d say at a guess more people are into mainstream pop sound they prefer where as I reckon people who like his music will be listening to the bass for example or the harp at the intro of Boogie nights . Not just liking the tune but the complex rhythms he was putting together. As you know people listen to music for all different reasons , but I think this type of music is just a little more deep than your average basic chord songs which most people tend to listen to . Hope that makes sense.

    • @marb7463
      @marb7463 Год назад

      Sorry forgot to put in another prime example of modern great songwriters, if you said James Harris and Terry Lewis to most people they wouldn’t know them either but if you look at the songs they have written and who for it will blow your mind , Change, Alexander O neal , janet Jackson to name a few , and look at what Leon Sylvers has written and who for to many to mention.

    I have mixed feels about Rod Temperton because of the way he turned his back on HEATWAVE and allowed the devil himself QUINCY JONES to kill and destroy his Crew! The music industry is Evil... HEATWAVE'S guitar player Mario was stabbed and paralyzed "ALLEGEDLY" by his girlfriend for no Reason and never went to jail for it Johnny was ran off the road and paralyzed from the neck down in a car accident?? Kinda funny that Rod Temperton had to answer to Johnny who got first dips on every Song that Rod wrote even after rod left the group! Johnny couldn't do anything anymore and had to disbanded Heatwave in 83, that same year Michael Jackson's Thriller dropped and guess who wrote 98% Micheal Song's ROD TEMPERTON!
    JUST A COINCIDENCE I THINK 🚫 NOT! 🤘😈

      @Coco. From what I've read Rod left Heat Wave to write on his own, nothing wrong with that. I will say this Johnny Wilder gave his life to Christ and suffered immensely only to earn a beautiful spot in heaven. Tell me who truly turned out to be the richest man??? You've guessed it....Johnny Wilder!!!❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏. And for both men's sake may they rest in peace 🕊️.
