Downton Abbey is the most well written show, EVER! - accolades to the entire cast, off-screen team and Lord Julian Fellowes. I still watch the entire series once a year
Love the story line in Downton Abbey such a breath of fresh air especially with all the chaos going on in the world a person needs to escape for a few moments or hours to relax and release. Then get back to reality with a better outlook on life. God bless to everyone. 💗💖
I binge-watched all six seasons and the 2019 movie last week. For 5-6 days straight I woke up watching, spent the day watching, and went to sleep watching these characters. It's like I know them. *Love the show and the movie and am looking forward to seeing the 2022 movie soon.*
This show was "Upstairs Downstairs (1970s)" on a much grander scale. Both shows are brilliant and totally memorable in their own ways. I love both shows.
The characters are multi-dimensional and likeable. The problems are relatable and not insurmountable. There is variety in the story lines with both drama (not melo-drama) and laughter. The history and period details are fascinatingly without being dull. It's like the best page-turner plot, yet not a bunch of soap-style half-resolved story lines. There is so much variety. The costumes and sets are amazing. It's set in the past, but we can all see ourselves in the stories. A+ and I want more!

Downtown Abbey is becoming like a old classic series. You don't get series with this quality of acting, elegance and class on TV or cinema now. I had watched this series multiple times on Amazon Prime and also the film is exquisite. Lovely.

May I say, this show literally gave me such excitement. My husband would make my bath water, turn on the tv in the bedroom and tell me to hurry up, downtown Abby was coming on. the music would play and I was so in to it. The worst moment, when Sybil died! I cried out loud. I was so heart broken. I still can’t believe how in to it I was. It was like my family. Well played everyone.
Part of Downton's appeal for me is its portrayal of the societal dynamics that many of us Americans inherited, whether we are upstairs or downstairs. We see the dramatic contrasts between the lives of the "haves" and the lives of the "have-nots," contrasts that are sadly reflected in today's society under the false veneer of equality.
@Oma Cool The revolution has already happened in the US, with the election and upcoming landslide reelection of President Donald Trump. I was so pleasantly surprised that it was something that I could watch with my whole family. I don't remember the last time I watched anything like that.
Saw it yesterday and it's amazing. The music. The last 10 minutes kicked my a** though. The characters and plot lines are wonderful, but it's the grander themes it dives into that makes it so large now, i.e social and economic change people were confronting 100 years ago...just as we are today. There's an element of sadness to it - waning empires and characters facing it.
Is it just me or Elizabeth looked upset? They ask her a question, but Hugh answered in a rush. Perhaps that's what upset her... Dont know. Love them, though.
Kevin Doyle also answered in a rush... That's why I think interviews should only have 3 or 4 people. Elizabeth is a very interesting and talented lady, she deserved better. Nothing against Kevin or Hugh, though. And they (the hosts) even adressed her a couple of times, but she was completely blank. I understand what woman mean when it comes to feeling ignored or let down by man.
Personally...I never saw the show...up to 2 months ago. I have now been binge watching it on Netflix and love it. I just finished the last season. The first thing I did was to buy the movie on DVD. (I get it today....Yay!) It's funny when there is any story you love. You always want it to continue forever. I am glad it has won so many awards. They all deserve it.

Not quite but a close second
Downtown abbey amazing programme fabulous actors and actresses and its unbelievably sadly missed
I have my tickets for this coming Thursday. #CantWait!!!
Yeah Yeah Yeah ... can't wait to catch up on the big screen with my favorite show!! I'm so excited!! 😂🤣😂🤣
I finished the entire 6 seasons a couple days ago and love the Crawley family! I can't wait to watch the movies now!
Have seen it twice already! (It opened here in NZ on the 12th). Obviously enjoyed it.
Is it just me or Elizabeth looked upset? They ask her a question, but Hugh answered in a rush. Perhaps that's what upset her... Dont know. Love them, though.
I agree. I felt bad for her because any time she tried to answer a question, someone else talked over her 😬
@@sarahm4046 Exactly. She seemed rather upset.
Anexo Consciente completely agree what you are saying! She is so nice but she never gets a word in when she’s in a group! 🙏
Ha Americans put more into promoting Downton then us Brits do 😂😂
Right now we need the civility that they exude
@@nonir670 haha I get you, we need it over here too right now
@@charchaz00 I can imagine. I love watching videos of your parliament😁
@@nonir670 I love watching videos of your president 😂 the world really is a joke now isn't it
@@charchaz00 😂😂😂😂😂. Yeah unfortunately, but he's just....Idk... I'm embarrassed to be an American sometimes. At least being Black, everyone seems to realize I had absolutely nothing to do with getting that clown elected
Love , Love, Love Downton Abbey Forever!!!!!!!!I still watch it everyday ( ridiculous I know) I also love the Gilded Age!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’m literally going through a withdrawal without the show
Elizabeth McGovern was fantastic in the series. And movie
Can't wait to see the Film! 2 Days!😍
Please come back #DowntonAbbey! Please give us at least 1 more Season to catch up on Everything 🎩👑💂♂️💂♀️🐎🏰
msfigy it was awesome. And very funny.
I went with a Friend to see Downton Abbey today at the movies - best movie ever.
Elizabeth McGovern didn’t look very impressed with Hugh Bonneville.
I saw that too. I wonder why🤔
I came to the comments to see if anyone noticed!
Yes I noticed that! I wonder what that was about! A bit odd as I presumed they were quite close as working together before. Just the way she looked at him! Hmmmmm
They get along FAMOUSLY in real life
matt riches Yes but other interviews not that way We never know if someone is simply tired or ill or who knows??
The films subsequently after the series have not disappointed. Very happy for the cast as so many series have abysmal finales and extended films.
I hope here’s a sequel there’s so much more to go into! Thomas, Daisy and Andy, The future of Downton as a grand house going into modern times
I love that “ it is a Visual Feast!!!
Just saw the movie today and I can’t wait to buy it when it’s released. They left storylines that should allow for another movie. Fingers crossed
I hope so much that there is a sequel to this movie
The children never spoke, but it was wonderful to see them happy and growing!
