  • Costa Maya is located on the southeastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, roughly halfway between Cozumel and Belize City. We previously visited Costa Maya in 2019 and returned aboard the MSC Seaside in June 2023. In this video, we’ll highlight some new additions to the Costa Maya cruise center that we saw during our most recent visit. And we’ll also share our experience wandering outside the cruise center to enjoy some delicious local foods!

    I really like Costa Maya. I think that the only thing to do just off the ship is get a lounger and get some sun. I have taken the taxi to the outer part, just south of the gates, about 2-3 miles, and they drop you off and then pick you up. It was very inexpensive there. However, I think that they do charge for the loungers if you use them. Thank you for this update. It has been since 2019 since I was there and in October I will return again. This is super helpful to know ahead so I can plan accordingly. 🤗

    I remember when Costa Maya would only get one ship now with all these mega ships that pork gets so overcrowded, look at the Port scheduling before you, book your cruise to see how many ships will be in the day you may be there

    I went there in Msy 2023 but sorry that I didn't walk pass the cruise port area because it was extremely hot that day. I did a little shopping and I was back on the ship quick. Thank you telling me about that area.

    When you left the cruise center, would the path have been do-able for a wheelchair? Thank you for any information. We enjoy your videos.

      The part we walked had sidewalks, so it does seem possible. The sidewalk you can see around 3:26 is pretty much what all of the sidewalk outside the cruise center looked like. Some areas were a bit better than others, but all of it seemed good enough for a wheelchair. Hope this helps!

    Closer to the cruise port prob face higher rent so it would be reflected in the pricing of products.

    I enjoyed your very informative video! In the small stores outside the port, did they take $USD? Are you spanish speaking, or did the store employees speak English? Wondering if we could catch a taxi from the store toward the beaches, or maybe the taxi driver would stop for a few extra bucks? Thanks for sharing your travels!

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  9 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, we were able to pay with $USD. We are not Spanish-speaking other than a few very basic words/phrases leftover from our grade school days. Most of the people we met spoke enough English enough that we didn't have any issues. Not sure about catching the taxi outside of the cruise port area, but there's enough of them driving around that general area that it shouldn't be an issue either.

    Hi, I will be on the Carnival Celebration November 2023 and the NCL Prima February 2024. Both cruises will be stopping in Costa Maya. I have been there multiple times before. On both of my upcoming Cruises I am considering taking a taxi to the Mahahual Beach area where several restaurants and bars are located. I have seen videos on this area with "mixed reviews." Crazy Lobster was one of these. QUESTION: Do you have any thoughts on this area?? Thanks in advance. 😎⛹️‍♀️🚴‍♂️🤸‍♂️

    Get off the ship first and go to the massage hut that’s in the middle of the port. It is unbelievably good and pretty good prices. They stand outside with their price guide so if you want a girl to massage you, you have to pick the one holding the sign or if it’s a guy, you will get a guy

    Is it safe to venture out of port? Did you ever feel unsafe? I’d like to get away and explore and possibly check out the beach but very nervous about taking a taxi to get there

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  8 месяцев назад

      For the parts we visited, we never felt unsafe. We've visited those areas just outside the cruise port area during multiple visits. If you decide to go to the beach, definitely get a taxi because it's a VERY LONG and HOT walk. You can easily get a taxi from the taxi stand toward the back of the cruise port area.

    Do you have to pay to use the pool in the port area?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  11 месяцев назад

      During our visit, the pools and most of the loungers/seating were complimentary. There were some loungers close to the pools that were an additional fee.

      If you check this Google Maps link, we only traveled along the one road that leaves the cruise port area and did not go beyond the "Mayan Temple Replica" at the traffic circle. www.google.com/maps/@18.7339768,-87.6949026,341m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu Hope this helps!

    Does the drink package work for the cruise center area?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  Год назад +2

      Cruise Line drink packages do not cover purchases made at the Costa Maya cruise center. You can, however, use it on the ship while it is docked at Costa Maya.
