I know this was all a acted performance and maybe today was one of those days where old memories have gathered close, still wanting to be heard. This presentation made me recall the many times of being both "in the Chair" and "at the table" as part of a committee conducting the proceedings. This performance placed me right back into those feelings. Even knowing the outcome of the events he was describing I felt myself go through the tension and relief associated with such emotional events. Plus I felt a actual sense of respect for a individual who put duty above fear and others before self. Outstanding idea to relive and strengthen the depth of a known story by telling it from a "everyman" point of view. The inclusion of historical figures and past events was well thought out and helped illustrate how the average crew member viewed those people who became legends in Star Fleet. It also gave a insight as to how a crew member views themselves within the scope of the ships and commanders heroic actions. This production was excellent. The manner in which the story was presented with well selected visuals that help place what part of the story was being told, it all flowed from past events to present in a concise and informative manner. The narrator deserves credit for establishing a pace of narration and tone that gives it that authentic video documentation style. The actor was outstanding! Whether he knows it or not his body language and vocal inflections was spot on for how service members conduct themselves during debriefings and formal proceedings after they have been through a traumatic event. From a disabled veteran who was a career NCO, thank you for presenting the true meaning of Star Trek. That if individuals rise as one and put the needs of the many before the one, then there is hope for a better future.
You all did tight work on this one, from the totally believable acting to the excellent cgi, to the editing, directing, writing and camera work. This synopsis of Generations is literally better than Generations. You successfully salvaged the cooler parts of Generations, and in its place you offer a better voyage. Completely honest review. Again, great work. Can’t wait for what you’ve got planned. Sincerely, Daddy Star Trek
Love the extra point of view on things so well played out. A well dreamed up background scenario we could not see on the big screen, only in sites like these and novels written and yet to be written. Well done on the integration work as well as a believable story from a "below decks" perspective.
Thanks Brian! Means a lot to hear such a nice comment! Thanks for taking the time to watch the film, was there anything about it you enjoyed in particular?
Thank you, Commander, for another fine film. I've seen you ask a few times in the comments, so here goes, I do have a few very minor nitpicks The shot of the NCC-1701-B's saucer at about 4:08 had somewhat pixelated text, I'm guessing it was a model designed to be viewed from further out, and it would have been a lot of work to retexture it for a few seconds on screen. You missed a great opportunity to explain why they did not even bother trying to eject the core, perhaps a joke about the core ejection system never having worked, and being something even Geordi could not fix, or "Geordi split us into several teams each spent a few days thoroughly testing the E's core ejection systems to make sure they are more reliable than on the D". As for what looked especially good, The flypast of the NCC-1701-E at about 21:30, where you could actually see rooms in many of the windows, that must have been a fair bit of work, a small detail but that it was there and moved perfectly as the camera did, and it seemed like it was every lit up window really made the shot more beautiful and convincing. p.s. perhaps it's time to ask the Captain's recommendation for a promotion, surely you must have earned your own command by now.
Great stuff! More of this pretty please. The doc format is great framing for events we already know, love the link up to FC and the score is very well done, caught all the little motifs playing over his interview.
Absolutely incredible! I was right there with you reliving the events of that time. This was so well done and such a great storytelling format. I wish you all the best with all the stories we have to look forward to that I'm sure you will tell. The most important thing is you treat the subject matter with the respect it deserves. Personally, I'd love to see the re-telling of the Battle of Tyra from DS9. A horrible off screen battle that destroyed 98 starships and took eh lives of 25,000 Starfleet personnel.
Samuel you are an incredibly talented man - this is one of the best - if not THE BEST fan films I've seen. Great concept ALSO refreshing to see an actor who is both competent and convincing in a fan film! Great work!!!
@@SGUDistantHope The idea behind the film being a documentary is wonderful. It is simple and interesting. The CGI was good, but the storytelling was better. The actor was very competent. Using the lower-ranked character is a great way to retell a known event. The only improvement I can see is to use one-two more performers with different viewpoints that still intertwine for the overarching theme. Having only one person covering 20+ minutes of dialog is extremely difficult. I am not counting the narration.
Great stuff. The exactness of the CG shots are great. You should make a RUclips "Starfleet History Channel" or "Starfleet National Geographic" channel with a logo like the actual History or National Geographic channels.
Now we need a short of the Calis tractoring the torn up D saucer through space. A nice fly by shot. Dirt and trees sticking out of the bottom, bits flying off, lol.
@@SGUDistantHope In particular I liked the idea of seeing well known events from a different view, sort of the lower decks view. We always see the command crew, but they can't really function without the rest of the crew. Its good to see things from the point of view of the background players, their fears and hopes are, in my opinion, just as important as the 'stars' of the show. I really enjoy this when it is younger members of the crew, still new to their roles, still filled with the sense of excitement and wonder of travelling the galaxy.
Also want to add that I appreciate the generous use of the Generations soundtrack. Always felt like one of the more underrated OSTs out of the movies. And I'm just noticing that the docking arm in the drydock slots into the shuttlebay of the sovereign. That's actually really smart for moving large cargo in and out
We're not actually allowed to use tracks from the soundtrack so I had to build it all from scratch, combining themes from First Contact, Generations, other Trek Shorts themes, as well as totally new material. McCarthy wrote an amazing score, and generations is overlooked. I rank the OST top 3 with ST II, and First Contact.
@@matmilne I figured it was an emulation and not the actual OST (I could hear the small differences), but still clearly inspired by those soundtracks. Good work either way
Love that you're running with the mockumentary style for these! Not only is it different but offers further insight into Trek history. The recreations of Generations VFX shots are FAB! :D
Thanks man! Was a happy accident that we have 4 of these in a row...the next 3 should be back to narrative format :D But yes, really allows for you to tell a LOT of story and also...see our actors just...ACT as the character for a meaningful amount of time, well done Marcus! Were there any shots you enjoyed in particular? or any lines of dialogue, would love to hear what stood out to you! :D
Ok regardless of me pointing out three things below. Wow i really love this i could not take my eyes away from the screen as i was sent in a bubble full of great special effects wonderful acting and i really believed and felt the emotions when Ensign Sam Harriman was describing all the situations and thats what kept me gripped and encapsulated into this story where i forgot that i was watching this in a Prets in central London with lots of people around me. Such an amazing project and you should all be so proud of yourselves, this in my opinion should be picked up by Paramount.
Great episode! 😍 Loved the recreated scenes from Generations as well as the newly created ones. Harriman's description of the events was great and emotional.😢Very big bonus points for the idea that the saucer has been salvaged by three Calis 🥰 And who knows... maybe there needs to be a follow up to this video at the end of Picard season 3 regarding this being the end of the D 😉
@@cosmeticscameo8277 We already know from season 2 of Picard that the saucer was recovered and is now located in the Fleet Museum at Athan Prime. We also know from the Picard team that they built the bridge set of the D and there was that omnious hint about whatever is stored in hanger bay 12 in “The Bounty”. My take is that we haven't seen the last of the D (especially as they'll likely be in need of a ship that isn't networked) and that Geordi used his time as leader of the museum to rebuild the D (with some Galaxy class drive section that he found somewhere) into the Galaxy X dreadnought as seen in “All Good Things”.
@@PascalDragon "...Galaxy class drive section that he found somewhere..." I have a hard time finding my coffee cup every morning. But, knowing Geordi, he probably knew a guy who knew a guy who just happened to have a mostly-compatible engineering section in his backyard "just for old time's sake", nacelles from a retired Ambassador-class, and custom made the pylons using scraps from "a certain D12 that was recently decommissioned nearby".
Fascinating you should say that 🤔@@DistracticusPrime The MUSEM.....where all GREAT SHIPS were Stored.... ; he had a GREAT Suprise for All...= PICARD RETURNS...as Well As DATA...THE ENTERPRISE RISES AGAIN!!...Geordi...Riker Picard...The Counsler, & The Doctor...all on a Final Quest .....Indeed 🤔...........🖖🚀.....this story was a nice insight of what was going on..the inside of things...aye?..

This was phenomenal! I literally went back and watched Generations just so I could get the true feel and I gotta tell ya. Generations still isn’t great but this DEFINITELY makes it better. The explanations to a bunch of “wtf that makes no sense” moments were actually pretty damn good. And that included the first and ONLY phaser beam we saw😂😂STILL that phaser beam should’ve nearly crippled a Duras led D-12 bird of prey. But that very simple they knew right where to hit us moment that should’ve been told in the movie was great as well as well. And the final shot of the E 😮💨 by far the sexiest ship to bear the name Enterprise! Well in my personal opinion at least😂
Very very nice , I enjoyed seeing the Enterprise-D fly once again an to hear the story from a engineer sams prospective , loved it guys , y’all do such personal films an we love them
Wow, very well done, Sam!! Have had a lot of weather issues "on Risa" so I got to this quite late. But it was well worth the time... I loved this. It fixes a few of the gaps and answers the questions that many of us have had since we witnessed the scene in the movie. Thank you for your incredible vision and bless your skill to make this a very believable documentary.
You are so talented Sam! I truly enjoyed that. Bravo to the actor playing the ensign, top notch performance! I love the Enterpris-B connection, why won't Paramount hire you? Makes no sense. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🇨🇦❤️🇬🇧
This is absolutely amazing. This deserves to be seen by EVERY Star Trek fan. THIS IS WHAT STAR TREK IS. This was more Trek then anything currently. Even as good as STP Season3 has been it lacks the Trek feel still....This has it. 10/10.
Wow. This was a classy confirmation of the Enterprise legacy. How this was framed and Harriman's totally reasonable responses across the mission are well-written. Cgi to any film (I'm assuming some of that was the film?) elements felt seamless to me. Seeing Enterprise attempt to break orbit fit right in. Harriman's post Veridian experiences aboard Farragut and got forward were, again, reasonable responses to the situations.
That was excellent Samuel. Great effects, great pacing, great dialogue. I was particularly impressed by the actors performance. He was very believable and has really improved across the fan films he's been in. He seems to have a genuine affinity for acting. Keep up the awesome work man. Well done 😁
Bravo! Beautifully done. I still dislike what paramount did to the D in Generations but your film does a wonderful job filling some back story. Love the use of the score as well.
Great film! Loved the comments about hopefully not facing the Borg towards the end, considering how we first see the Enterprise E. Also loved the Excelsior class Enterprise B shots - my favourite design. Also learned from reading the comments that the old uniforms where worn for a year before the crew adopts the movie uniforms. Hope it isn't too annoying when new shows e.g. Picard contradict things, e.g. the saucer being in the museum. 😀
Bravo! 👏👏👏 I absolutely loved this. My compliments to all involved. I think this documentary style works very well. I was emotionally engaged with Harriman's narrative of the event. Plus we get to see The B, D, E plus some California class. Congratulations! You've made a Trek fan very happy 🖖
Mr. Churchills, you are an excellent actor and story teller. Well done. I brought back memories from my second favorite series of all time (the original Star Trek series being number one.) :O)
@@matmilne true, but I prefer it over the Miranda-class, and that was also made for film. Maybe because it had the usual ship profile (saucer and secondary hull).
@maybetoby yes, what I meant was that the E was built by ILM as was the Excelsior, to do exactly the same job - be filmable up close, and pleasing from every angle. First time I saw one was in generations, it's my favourite iteration of the Excelsior.
Well, this is a beautiful piece. Fascinating to see these stories from a different perspective: the acting is wonderful, and the CGI is beautiful as well. Really comes together nicely.
Great retrospective of ST7 and a very convincing performance from the lead actor. Liked all the recreations of ship shots. Still no reason given why all those civilians were hanging out in the secondary hull, hmmmmmm.... 😉
@Power543 Fan Films well, the graphics were great. I'm assuming you reproduced some of the Generations footage?I also enjoyed seeing alternate perspectives of scenes we know so well. It looks professional. And the storyline is great, and I'm glad to see Generations get some tender-loving care.
@@SGUDistantHope I personally love audiobooks and that aided the retelling as I try to picture the events in my mind on what is going on. I like how he expressed the event of the saucer section split up, on how families were using the tubes, that they all had faith in each other that no one would be left behind. p.s. perhaps it's time to ask the Captain's recommendation for a promotion, surely you must have earned your own command by now.
Marvelous! As Scotty said in Generations…”Brought a tear to me eye!”
Always great to see a story from another perspective, well done.
Samuel you are an incredibly talented man - this is one of the best - if not THE BEST fan films I've seen. Great concept ALSO refreshing to see an actor who is both competent and convincing in a fan film! Great work!!!
This is one of the best Fan Films I have seen. Well done, and thank you.
Thank you Roland!! What about the project makes you say such a wonderfully kind thing!! We would love to hear :D
This would be a wonderful special feature to include with Generations. You wouldn't think it was a fan film.
Tears come to my eyes; Excellent!
REALLY good. :-) Thank you to everyone involved. An absorbing 23 minutes for this TNG fan.
Well done! I got a few nostalgic shivers from it. Thank you :)
Thanks Nomad!!!!! Anything you liked in particular or something that stood out to you personally? We would love to hear besides the Nostalgia! :D
A work of art. This really makes me apperciate the movie Generations so much more than I did previously.
Me too.I thought the film was mediocre at best, this fan film is-GREAT. LOL.
@@powerbadpowerbad WHAT?! I'm shocked. It's my favorite one.
Good work either way
This was really good. It felt like I was watching a real documentary. Great job!
F'ing excellent work..🎉
Love that you're running with the mockumentary style for these!
Absolutely stellar. Very professional. Excellent work.
Take a bow all involved, this is amazing!
Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! A very well done production in the same vein as Vic's Star Trek Continues. Thank you all for making and sharing!
Your work is incredible!! 🖖🤓
Thanks so much! What about our film did you enjoy in particular? we love more detailed review/thoughts :D
Excellent Job, great idea giving a different perspective to the events of "Generations"
Wonderfully done superb acting. I loved it. Thank you for sharing.
"After it became clear that the klingon bird of prey's fire was getting through the shields, we didn't re-modulate them."
Great episode! 😍 Loved the recreated scenes from Generations as well as the newly created ones. Harriman's description of the events was great and emotional.😢Very big bonus points for the idea that the saucer has been salvaged by three Calis 🥰
And who knows... maybe there needs to be a follow up to this video at the end of Picard season 3 regarding this being the end of the D 😉
the saucer was probably scrapped.
"Captain's log, stardate 48650.1. Three Starfleet vessels have arrived in orbit and have begun to beam up the Enterprise survivors...unfortunately the Enterprise herself cannot be salvaged."
BRAVO good sir ... BRAVO! - you have done us all proud!
I can't wait to see Sam Harriman's face when he sees Geordie's little surprise at the Starfleet Museum. ;-)
very well done!
Well done. Great fan film.
Interviewing those with a different perspective,,,awesome idea!Usually these types of videos deal with those in or close to command. To gain the perspective of someone other is refreshing.Keep up the good work.
Well.........Thats just AWESOME AND GORGEOUS!!!! Thank you so much for that Mr. Cockins!
Very good. If only we had this talent writing Star Trek today.
This is absolutely amazing. This deserves to be seen by EVERY Star Trek fan. THIS IS WHAT STAR TREK IS. This was more Trek then anything currently. Even as good as STP Season3 has been it lacks the Trek feel still....This has it. 10/10.
Very nice. Fits in seemlessly. Thank you very much.
Excellent! I'm glad Alec gave us your link today. Great job.
No elements are taken from the films, we're not allowed to do that, everything is made from scratch from cgi, to sets and music.
@@matmilne Nice. It wasn't just the feels. It IS seamless. Faithfully recreated and fleshed out.
Really enjoying this and another websode, keep up the great work.
That was excellent Samuel. Great effects, great pacing, great dialogue. I was particularly impressed by the actors performance. He was very believable and has really improved across the fan films he's been in. He seems to have a genuine affinity for acting. Keep up the awesome work man. Well done 😁
Excellent story! Very well done!
awwww geez. When the First Contact type music starting playing I tried not to tear up lol
This was wonderful! Credit to all of you, and thanks!
Great job! That's my Star Trek!
Bravo! Beautifully done. I still dislike what paramount did to the D in Generations but your film does a wonderful job filling some back story. Love the use of the score as well.
Really good Star Trek fan film, great work people!
Wow!! Y'all just took that generations story to a whole new level!!!
great video very powerfull thanks 🖖👍
Bravo! 👏👏👏 I absolutely loved this. My compliments to all involved. I think this documentary style works very well. I was emotionally engaged with Harriman's narrative of the event. Plus we get to see The B, D, E plus some California class. Congratulations! You've made a Trek fan very happy 🖖
Excellent and very good acting too.
well done! enjoyed it through!
Bravo!
Thanks!
Mr. Churchills, you are an excellent actor and story teller. Well done. I brought back memories from my second favorite series of all time (the original Star Trek series being number one.) :O)
This is absolutely fantastic! Very well done!
Thanks Matt!! What did you enjoy specifically about it? We would love to hear your thoughts!
Great work friends!
Well Done!!!👍👍👍
I don't know why, but for me the Excelsior-class (both variants) is still such a marvel to look.
Made for film, much like the E. She's super pleasing to the eye.
@@matmilne I love both versions, I can't choose between the two lol.
And I'm glad the next Enterprise was an Excelsior class.
Well, this is a beautiful piece. Fascinating to see these stories from a different perspective: the acting is wonderful, and the CGI is beautiful as well. Really comes together nicely.
That recreation of the Armagosa observatory was impressive. All of the recreations were, really.
Better than anything being put out by "official Trek" these days. Thank you.
I’m one of the old timer Trekkers. And job well done.
Great retrospective of ST7 and a very convincing performance from the lead actor.
Liked all the recreations of ship shots.
Still no reason given why all those civilians were hanging out in the secondary hull, hmmmmmm.... 😉
10/10 The Spit and Polish that went into this is high quality. Well done.
excellent. very compelling performance by mr churchill.
Excellent!!!
Amazing! Congrats, Sam!
Awesome job. Loved it.
Thanks Brett! Anything you liked in particular or something that stood out to you personally?
@Power543 Fan Films well, the graphics were great. I'm assuming you reproduced some of the Generations footage?I also enjoyed seeing alternate perspectives of scenes we know so well. It looks professional. And the storyline is great, and I'm glad to see Generations get some tender-loving care.
The expression and dialog is wonderfully done. Excellent video.
Thanks very much! any particular moments you enjoyed?
@@SGUDistantHope I personally love audiobooks and that aided the retelling as I try to picture the events in my mind on what is going on. I like how he expressed the event of the saucer section split up, on how families were using the tubes, that they all had faith in each other that no one would be left behind.
I love playing the engineer on Artimis Space Bridge Simulator where my role is to manage systems, pushing them to there limits. The shared interest in engineering added to my enjoyment.
