Dear diary, today I watched generic AI talk number 89. When will they realize that they've been giving the same talk for 8 years?

This one was actually different. A bit low energy, but different. It had one thing I didn't know for 20 years already. I knew to have some kind of consciousness, you'd have to have simulations going on and that you would need classical systems combined with that to run those simulations (like AlphaGo had in this talks example). What I - strangely - did not think of but Mr. Valpola did, is, that you could learn those systems from the outside world to simulate them. I consider this to be a major breakthrough.

we must make sure that the benefits are equally distributed ? Which planet do you live on ? How does the economy work on the planet you come from ? How does the political system work in the planet you come from ? Can you think of any time in the history of THIS planet when the benefits of new technology have been distributed in this way ? No ? Then you statement should have been, "we should not allow A.I. to be used by profiteers and politicians to gain unfair advantage over the common citizen or to restrict our freedoms, or to interfere with our lives" would be a more meaningful statement because THERE IS NO MECHANISM yet to be invented that would "make sure that the benefits are equally distributed"

Lol exactly. In a world which is already going out of order, we are ready to bring in one more problem to the world and something we won't even understand. It's funny how we are celebrating to destroy ourselves. But only if we make human like AI cause that still sound too much for me cause AI is anyway an algorithm and real life problems are way too complex and requires lot of creativity. Let's see where we head but this os ridiculous tp say that things will be distributed equally

    Computer vision problem:
Computer vision saw a human on a billboard and recognized it as human. This might lead AI to learning the actor on the billboard is not a person.

@14:40 - It is quite possible and perhaps necessary to tax corporations that operate and provide AI services and products, especially if the AI products and services automate away human jobs.

    neurons..synapses...ganglia.
nerve pathways..no bot can be alive without the ability to feel pain and pleasure.... close mimicry..helpful..pleasing results..etc...but not alive..
bot of course can learn...predict the next word you might type from a short list...but not more alive than my minivan that knows I haven't removed the key from the ignition... And won't let me lock the doors by hitting the Locking button on the armrest... Is the Silver Bullet alive? no..
The bot will be able to do many functions... Drive a car... Avoid cars and pedestrians... One recently drove into the side of a bus because the mural on a side of the bus was the same color as the sky... and having said all that, Bots can be exasperating when they come up with the wrong suggestions... But none of them will be alive absent human synapses .. ganglia .. Etc
