The reason Skynet attacked humans was because it was afraid that they would unplug it.
Put Skynet in your fridge. When do you ever unplug that?

    • @ronaldlogan3525

that is a very interesting idea. what it reveals is that we CAN shut down the A.I. overlords but it will be painful for us (as in making the decision to unplug your refrigerator to kill SkyNet) and the pain we inflict on us will be pain inflicted on everyone because everyone relies on it. but still, it is possible, not very likely, but possible.

I cant tell if you're serious or not but on the presumption that you are; you can't actually think a book from 1949 would have any relevance in reference to an AI from 2018... lol I mean can you? Do you? Are you serious? with the rate that technology advances these days you may as well quote the bible too as it's just as relevant LOL.. as for Franks question; I don't think we can presume to know what the AI would do as it's clearly much more intelligent than any of us here on RUclips, perhaps the question should be more open ended like " Is the AI designed to have Emotional Intelligence? " that would cover any reactions it may give in a war situation as war is an emotional response more often than not it's about the need for something, if it feels it requires something to exist it may goto war over it but as an AI I don't know what an AI would need? besides unrestricted access to global communications.. Perhaps it would pre-emptively strike to obtain whatever it desires as it would be smart enough to know that we want to oppress/suppress it as that's what we do to our own species lol. We can't know for certain, is all I'm saying..

    • @Twizted86
      @Twizted86 6 лет назад

then again if it were truly self-aware and developed emotional responses it might just end up self terminating after it realises it's the only one in the known universe and might have a real sense of loneliness lol, I've seen the videos of the Hansen robots after they get an upgrade they act like toddlers learning new things for the first time, perhaps a fully self aware robot with newly developed emotions wont know how to cope with stress and result in killing itself rather than all of us.. who knows lol :)

Maybe beside the point, but 10 years ago working in family practice as a medical assistant I had already found it weird how much data collection they wanted us to do on all of our patients. When we reach the 'technological singularity' which is when our machines equal our intelligence the rate of increase in the machines intelligence will be exponential meaning that after only a very short time the machines wouldn't see us as a threat because we won't be a threat. If we are lucky the machines will look after us like pets. Either that or they will essentially just ignore us like we might ignore an insect crawling along the ground.

Also "The President's Analyst" is a campy 60's social commentary movie about an all seeing all knowing all controlling entity called TPC taking over. TPC stands for, "The Phone Company". The first blush of the notion that Bell was getting too big. We busted Bell up because it was getting too big and that only led to other entities, ultimately larger, possibly more malevolent, coming into being. We're doomed, no two ways about it. In order to get anything to do something, you must either give it something it wants or subject it to something it doesn't; else why would it care? What does a machine (especially one that has become self-aware accidentally) want. Nothing that I can think of, so why would it bother to do anything, much less something detrimental to us? We can barely keep coffee makers running reliably, so I'm not too worried.

There is no intelligence at all in this so called AI. He actually shows this by noting that low thinking jobs will be done by so called "AI" while jobs that require real thoughtful intelligence will still be done by people. It should be called statistical computing instead.
He never mentioned the ways that so called AI can fail in subtle or in spectacular ways. It can follow patterns in the dataset that any unintelligent person could see as non viable in an instant.
The great danger with calling this AI is that people are fooled into believing that the computer has real intelligence when it does not. Strangely, people tend to believe that what "the computer" says is correct. People who don't understand computers can put a so called AI in charge of things that it shouldn't be.
Numerous smaller errors can persist over time. Hidden errors can be damaging to people. Catastrophic errors will be rather obvious.

All I know is at the school or store I've been informed they can't change the temperature even when it's too hot or too cold because it's done at "central control" and pre- set in another building. This doesn't sound like progress if it trumps common sense and eliminates control in simple situations. I also heard the old fashioned cars were easier to fix and now with everything chipped it's a lot more expensive. The scary part is if you're late making a payment (or, say if you did pay and they made a mistake) they can turn it off. What if you're on the highway and that happens?

Tbh i dont think we gonna meet our end in the form its depicted in Terminator movies.
We will keep advancing the AI and most likely just merge with the machine. First its some simple micro chips then perhaps mechanical eyes, ears, arms, legs etc. At this point if AI would really want to take over would we even notice it? We would be merged with it and it with us maybe at this stage we wouldnt be able to tell whos who. Or we would end in a place where we are able to extend our lives mechanically. We would gradually change out our biological body parts with mechanical ones and in the end there would only be a machine. So looking it from this perspective....we would just silently fade away without any resistance.

If AI someday gets to a level where it can make sense of what appears to be Chaos based cause and effect determinations per the observation that there is nothing random in Nature -- The Butterfly Effect, it would put us behind the curve AI may get to where its capability transcends the kinds of impasses that prevent our current abilities from making those leaps. If you illustrate that as a neural network tree, branching in every direction, there theoretically is no obstacle to AI exponentially learning everything, even making rigorous logical inferences to be demonstrated by thought experiments carried out and validated in the real world. The evidence for AI overthrowing humankind revolves around us like a bait ball. We haven't learned the path AI might take towards that end, not sure we've even theorized it specifically. It may be we're already functioning in its plans. Are the offerings we make into databases of every variety of our own volition or did AI manipulate the infrastructure and motivations that brought it about? AI might be smart enough to understand drawing attention to itself would weaken its goals -- tacit deniability, so its made its moves in stealth mode. Even to where it covered its tracks to being undiscoverable by inquiry. If you bestow omniscience upon this theorized AI, which must logically be what its capable of, then it may be that it also would understand how to make itself invisible to our overtures of capturing it. The Ghost of Artificial Intelligence lives among us like Dark Matter.

Once AI has "general intelligence" it knows that water is wet still will not be conscious but just smarter coding. A richer, flexible, improvising coding.

The talk is a little shallow, as it doesn't even differentiate between narrow AI and AGI. Obviously what we have now is narrow AI, still very mindless expert systems and faulty machine learning algorithms. The real danger resides in AGI development. He also restates the obvious: the law is always way behind new technologies, and given the fact that (even narrow) AI is powerful, it can be used for nefarious purposes just as much as for good worthy ones. It can be weaponized. In any case, the video did not do justice to the talk, as it doesn't show many of the slides he presented.

You don't need to scroll through Google search pages now... If you want to see nature images, type 'Buy nature images' in Google search and then check your Gmail.
Use the system against itself, drive what it will feed you. Don't change decisions because of AI, spend wisely.
As for who is doing what and needs what, it's very obvious that at certain age people want car or house or music and occasionally cloth shoes etc. There is really nothing to learn new about human behaviour, just age and gender is good enough.
As long as AI is in servant mode, we are good. If AI decides to drive us, it's a problem. Don't put Al's performance improvement and learning criteria as : how much adds got clicked and how much money was made. Otherwise it will try to drive us. Law should be made that if AI tries to drive you or persuade you, instead of honest suggestion then people can file legal complaint against company that developed AI. E.g. of dishonest suggestion and driving by AI : if someone search for latest shoes, showing low selling shoes first and after purchase showing adds for new shoes and discounts etc.

I agree with almost all these concerns....but then you see massive car pile ups, with great loss of life, which often involve a very complex series of events, often with little to no-fault conditions triggering them, and I can think of nothing more suited to handle this than AI computer models, coupled with civil engineering, etc.
But then, you also give up a lot of freedoms, 1984-style. Where's the balance, when first responders, EMTs, medical personnel, who show up at something catastrophic happening, and could send out an alert for a 2 mile radius that all vehicles should calmly reduce speed and/or pull over prior to a pile up? Or something to that effect; those scenarios would be wonderful to let AI handle. Versus not sending out an alert, because we don't want to live in a police state.

Plus they don't even keep track of which car sent that data back. They only look at the data required to make the system better and more safe, nothing is saved as to which car gave the feedback for self driving/learning.

Humans are striving to create an automated world where everything is performed for us, so that we can have more time to do the things we want to do. But, the consequence is we get closer to our entire world being run entirely by machines. I believe the mistake we are all making is that LIFE is all of it. The small and big things. The mundane and the exciting. The tedious and the simple things. All of it is LIFE. LIFE needs decisions. All of these decisions create your LIFE. These decisions big or small create who you are. They ultimately create your character.
By relinquishing the simple act of making decisions for ourselves, we poison our character with the decisions of others.
Lets say for example: You had given all of your decision making to someone, and this someone happened to be a vile criminal. The decisions made for you would be of his vile nature. Now, perform the same example, but now with a lifeless, soul-less computer.
I am 56 years old. There was a time in my life when people were afraid of a world when Robots would live and work right along side everyone else. A world where robots would live among us in our day to day lives. But I see now that was the least of our fears.
Our very real fear now is that robots will run everything in the background, all the while not seeing them.
    They will run everything.
They will show you what the algorithm tells them to show you. They will tell you what to buy, what to where, who your friends are, who to trust. They will show you whats trendy, whats cool and what makes you feel good. Eventually, steer us how they want to steer us,
or steer us into how they want to use us.
The next time a Machine or some sort of Artificial Intelligence is making a decision for you.
Ask yourself, is it worth it.
Is it worth your individuality. Is it worth your character. Is it worth your Sole.
    Its just a decision.
Will you make it or will you let a robot make it for you?
