Thanks so much for posting - this looks likely to be the same problem I'm having... my passenger door won't unlatch in my '97 Wrangler Hope to be able to fix it this weekend now.
I have a 95 with the same issue. The rods are operating fine but it won't unlatch. I've tried prying the teeth apart from the latch to no avail. I'll try putting pressure on it but everything seems tight. Also are PB blaster and WD40 interchangeable?
If you were to use PB blaster, then follow behind with WD 40 I don’t think you would have an issue. If you jam a fat screwdriver in between the latch mechanism and door itself and jiggle the screwdriver back and forth while pulling on the door lever as if you were going to open the door it should eventually open. All you are trying to do is keep the latch mechanisms from moving so the rod has the appropriate pressure to unlatch. Hopefully this helps

HOW DID YOU GET IT OPEN ? MINE WONT OPEN RODS DO NOTHING ALL MOVE BUT NOTHING HAPPENS ITS STUCK CLOSED?
