How To Replace Broken Jeep Door Handles

- This is how I was able to replace the interior door latch for TJ Wranglers. It's much easier to do it this way than to remove the door panel because removing the door panel adds no additional access to the latch.

It seems like a lot work in a small space, informative though thank you.
I have no door handles i just pop the little bars to open the door. Gonna have to do this soon ive been dreading it
Is the latch handle assembly a dealer part or available elsewhere?
Sadly it's discontinued. I was able to find a few on ebay though.
Would it have been easier to take the door panel off?
Taking the door panel off might be easier for some. For me it wasn’t. The access hole is small and low, and not behind the door latch.
How do you remove the outside door handle? I need to replace mines on a 2013 jeep patriot latitude?
Not sure on a patriot. Jeep TJ's have wedges behind the door handle that get removed.
I don’t comment much but you took the low road for this handle replacement instead of the high road by removing the panel.
I don’t disagree with you.
Doubt you ever want to do that again... Replacing inner & outer handles when the parts get here.
You are correct! 😂
Couldn't you just take the bolt out and put a washer behind it to hold the handle in place? Just relaced the exterior door handle because it rattled and then broke a clip on the back side of the interior handle the rod sits in... Keep those old clips.
Interesting idea. I might have to look into this.
I used a black rubber washer. It adds some padding between the screw head and the thin plastic, and it conforms to the shape of the plastic. Being black, it's well camouflaged in there and you would never notice it without looking for it.
Now that is a smart idea. I bet it helps to prevent the cracking of the handles too!
@@EmbarkWithMark I actually added the washer after the handle had cracked as a way of keeping the handle in place. Eventually, today, I replaced the handle anyway (which is how I found your video), but it likely would have held forever anyway.
Thanks for the video. It definitely was a huge help!
DISLIKE! A year in the title would be very helpful.
Any updates?
I’ve had no issues. The door is still working great! In fact it is almost time to do the driver side.
I can't find one nowhere that says it will work on my jeep. I have a 99 cherokee..
It’s not this fuckin easy. I CANNNOT get the pins to slide in whatsoever. I don’t know why. Do at your own risk….
Yea, those pins can be a huge pain. It's been a number of years but just take your time and keep at it. You'll get the pins in. They are a huge pain though.
This dudes trolling. Don't even try it waste of time.
