Love to hear what you think of it for video. Am super intrigued to see if they make a monochrome version later too - would love to shoot a black and white short on a mono camera one day
The Leica Q3 is a piece of art, that creates art! For a photographer of your level, isn't it limiting spending this much on a camera that only has a 28mm fixed lens? Eagerly awaiting your comprehensive report on the Q3
Hi Rick, my most used lens on my Film and Digital M cameras is the 28mm Summicron. Thats part of the reason I shoot with leica Q's because of the 28mm lens, plus its nice to be lazy and have AF 😉
@@DarrylCarey Sony A7III, with all the lenses 24-70 70-200 100-400 all Sigma and a few Sony primes 14, 50 & 90 mm. Thinking about switching to Fujifilm X-H2. Just want to simplify my photography! Cheaper camera and lenses, with as little post processing as possible!
Great vid! I also live in NZ and I want to upgrade from Q to Q3. I want to know if it’s worth buying from HK as you did. It seems the import duty (plus GST) would negate any price advantage, no? Also by buying overseas, I would be giving up the potential to take advantage of NZ Consumer Guarantee Act which I feel is very valuable to have - could claim warranty repairs even after 3-5 years (but only applies to items purchased in NZ). What are your thoughts?
Purchasing from Hong Kong is a good choice for me. Regarding the warranty, since all Leica cameras need to be returned to Germany for any warranty-related services, the purchase location doesn't really matter as long as it's an authorized Leica retailer. I've never kept a camera past its warranty period, so I'm not sure how the New Zealand Consumer Guarantee Act applies to cameras once they're out of warranty. Additionally, the excellent customer service and the availability of most items in stock are significant advantages.
Sadly no, the LFI magazine is from 2019 and its still sealed 😩. I found a box of Leica magazine from my old Gallery / Studio, some of them are still sealed
thanks for the video. is there any difference in dynamic range between full resolution dng and dngs of smaller sizes? I ask because canon and sony suffer DR losses in medium and small raws.
You can use the USB-C port with an adapter for a microphone, but that will only happen when Leica release the new firmware for this feature which will be coming soon.
Where did the lens hood come from?? Was that in your box?
Absolute dream camera! Maybe one day! 🤞💛
Really looking forward to the video capabilities review. A local friend of mine has been shooting on a Q3 for a few months and loves it.
Hey Scott, been a long time 😀 Hope you and the family are keeping well
Darryl you said that you were going to cover the wireless charging grip and stand at the end of this video???

I was hoping Leica would make a monochrom SL2 or SL2-S that would be crazy for B&W videos ..

@@DarrylCarey ,,,,"nice to be lazy," 😆😆🤣! Love the image quality primes renders but I can't afford enough primes so I go with cheaper zooms!

Is the magazine in the intro photo the most recent issue of LFI?

I love my Q3 too, just a shame that you can’t connect to an extenal microphone (plug in or wireless!)

I could pick up the Sony a7cR and the a7r5 for the price of this camera! 😂
😉
For the review video : Is the autofocus improved, the battery life longer, and is it a worthwhile upgrade from the Leica Q2
Thanks Mark for the suggestions for the review video, are you looking at upgrading the Q2?
@@DarrylCarey Upgrade the Leica Q2 or get the Leica M11-P to go with the M10-M
@@markthephotoman3845 I would go with the M11-P, the Q3 is nice but its not that big a jump from the Q2
How is it for portraits
If you are shooting half body portraits, nothing can beat it …For me 28mm is a little to wide for head shots
Bit more professional than my unboxing video 😂
Nice! :)
Unnecessarily huge box
