I am so very saddened to hear of the loss of one of the greatest guitar players to ever live. He was a huge influence on my development as a player. The first time I heard Eddie Van Halen play was actually a live version of this piece. This was back in the late 90’s and live clips of Van Halen were circulating on the internet. I was playing Jimi Hendrix bluesy stuff at the time and when I heard Eddie Van Halen, I thought to myself “my God, how is it possible to play like that?”. He had incredible tone like nobody else and incredible chops. And I found that many players during the 80’s were doing the same kind of thing that he done... same techniques and whatnot, but amongst all of that, nobody sounded like him. Nobody! He had his own unique voice and when I hear a song on the radio and his guitar playing is in that song... if I never heard the song before, I know that’s him. I can always tell. I am so deeply saddened. He had enormous impact on my playing. His voice on the instrument will always be there for me. RIP Eddie.

After using Simply Guitar for 3 Days He learned this easy beginner guitar piece!
Best Eruption tab ever. My recommendation if ANYONE wants to learn this is practice at 50% of guitar video speed. There are A LOT of small nuances in this little spanish fly that are SUPER hard to catch imho after playing for years on the guitar. I knew how to play a dumb down version of this but playing it this way is a sure fire way to accuracy imho. Best tab I've ever seen on the internet so far and the video helps tremendously along with tabs. 50% ya'll! 50% !!!!!!

I just spent two hours trying to figure out the tapping part of this song. Ever since I heard the tapping style as a kid in the final countdown! I wondered how they got that sound out of a guitar, now I know! After practicing it for two hours I managed to get some semblance of it to come out of my SG.

That is the best cover of Eruption I've ever seen or heard. WAY better than Pete Thorne. I'll be studying this for the entire year. I've been playing Eruption for 40 plus years and your solo is better than mine hands down. I've been looking for someone that caught the nuance of that solo with the off key bends. You did it. This entire solo makes no sense in a classical perspective which is why its so good. The entire thing is pentatonic shredding, half of it being out of key. You're looking at it wrong.
I think you miss some music theory. I this is out of key, I wonder what you think of jazz guitar playing...by the way, he is

This is hopefully what op was referring to. Taking modern (boring) pentatonics and adding classical influence while still maintaining that pop music feel.

Man this was one of the first song I learned, and now after 1 year of playing I am trying to learn Perpetual Burn of Jason Becker,
I discovered him i think that 2 weeks ago and liked asf the shred he does in Perpetual Burn(album).

😮 you must have excellent dexterity and finger speed. I’ve been playing guitar for a couple months now and I struggle with Clapton’s solos 😅 would you mind sharing a few tips on how to approach soloing. I find it difficult when things speed up.
