I wish this video had existed last year Lauren. I made my husband a super nice shacket using your checkered fur backed fabric. My Baby Lock did not like this fabric, lol, and refused to give me a buttonhole. But the fabric took snaps beautifully, like in your test. Your video will help others not pull their hair out, haha.
Hi, I made Tilly and the Buttons Sony jacket from the mini makes book in the pink fur backed cord, I didn’t make the button holes but used the Prym anorak snaps they worked really well and my granddaughter loved her jacket.
I've been making a trapper hat with some long fur and corduroy, and I used my beard trimmer to take some of the bulk out of the seam allowance before sewing it. And also tried to push the fur to the left in the sean so that the long fibres don't end up matted in the seam
Also you know that you can change the width of the stitches for the button holes! For the thicker fabric try that and see if it makes any difference! And please let us know too!😊😊❤
@Ellsped10 also, i think most automatic buttonhole feet have a peg at the rear, and two pegs at the front which let you put a loop of thin string under the foot for the buttonhole stitches to stitch over. This might help to stop the stitches from sinking into the pile, and reinforce the buttonhole if the fabric has a loose weave or knit
This is oh so helpful! I’m working on Christmas things for my grandchildren and have the knitted look fabric to do some cardigans for the girls. I was wondering which would work better overlocker or sewing machine. My overlocker is pretty new so I haven’t tried knitted fabric yet. I will be practicing! Thank you for your tips video!
Hi very useful video Im about to make a marlo cardigan with your cotton chunky knit fabric. Would you suggest overlocking the seams on that fabric too ? Thankyou
Hello, I would suggest binding the hem, like I did for the seam allowances. That means you don't need to fold it back on itself again which can end up being bulky.
Excellent tips and information as always. The hong Kong finishes are so beautiful. Thank you
Fabulous video as always, thank you so much Lauren. Very helpful.
What a fabulous vlog. I've always wanted to try an open knit style fabric, but I've always shyed away from then because I don't have an overlocker.

And if you are trimming fur, it is worth getting one of those pet hair lint rollers, cause it will get everywhere

The other closure option for the fur-backed fabric is to use toggles and rouleau loops or even just ribbons that close with a bow!
Ah yes! Such a great idea!
Really appreciate this. Many thanks 😊
Such a useful video, thanks Lauren. Now for pattern suggestions ???
Thank you for the great info Lauren. Very helpful.
Great tips thank you xx
Love it! I’m actually in the process of ordering some fabric from your store so these tips are just in time! 😊❤❤
This was such a great video. Thank you for dong the work for us. I really love that fur-backed fabric, but it’s too hot for Florida. 😔
This was such a useful video Lauren x
Great thankyou!
Can you help me find the links that were talked about please? Love the fabrics and very informative. Thank you.
Hello, Sorry about that, I've added them to the description of the video now :)
Could you do a lapped seam to reduce the bulk?
Thanks. Is that what you did on your Marlo cardigan?

Love your cream marlo jumper. Will you be getting more of the cream marl knit in please? Only 1.3m left and I don't think that's enough 😢
Hello, we are yes. You can drop us an email info@guthrie-ghani.co.uk and the team can let you know when its back :)
@LaurenGuthrieGhani thank you 🙏
My question is how to hem the loose knit fabric as I find this difficult with such lightweight clothe.
