Nunes is a UFC fighter to be specific which is its own organized sport with specific rules and conditions like with timed and numbered rounds, a padded cage and banned strikes. If you had fighters face off in a different space and a different surface with no timed rounds or illegal strikes, many fights would play out differently than they do in a UFC setting. Not saying that Claressa would beat Nunes, just pointing out that UFC fans get carried away when they say it's the definition of "real fighting" instead of an organized sport.

They all compete in the UFC because that's where the best MMA fighters in the world desire to compete. The UFC hosts events all over Europe, South America and North America every year.They have held events in Asia and Australia as well. You don't need to speak English or be a Northwesterner to compete in the organization. Heck, a lot of the best MMA gyms aren't even in North America.Therefore, a UFC belt is just as valuable as an Olympic gold medal. Someone who doesn't see that either doesn't pay attention to MMA as a sport (which is fine) or just hates MMA as a sport.

What I mean is, as an achievement, winning a belt in the UFC is just as valuable as a gold medal in whatever sport one is compeing is as an Olympian. The UFC even has its athletes tested by the same organization (USADA) that tests Olympic athletes for doping.

@James Franko Amanda cut down from over 160 when she fought at 145 the weight difference wouldn't be that big if they fought. Claressa doesn't even train to defend against kicks or knees and elbows in the clinch so her legs would get destroyed and she would be mauled in the clinch. I would say Amanda hits harder as well, Claressa has never knocked down any of her opponents, even when she was fighting people who had very poor technique and really shouldnt have even been in there against her in her first few pro fights. But Amanda has knockout power and very hard low kicks, she's knocked people off their feet with those low kicks so they would be a big problem for a boxer who doesnt even know how to deal defend against kicks.

Amanda could use textbook muay thai tactics for when fighting a puncher; use kicks at range and when she gets close put her in the thai clinch to control her balance and posture and hit her with knees and elbows, all things that Claressa hasn't even trained to defend against.
Joe Montano Hell yeah it would be. I’m a big Clarissa Shields fan and Amanda Nunez. In the boxing ring I think Amanda has a helluva chance to pull off the upset. Shields is a beast and although Nunez is not a boxer, she reminds me of a female version of Felix Tito Trinidad . She will put you to sleep. The weight might be too much for her tho. Shields has all the skills but her power is just average.
