I'm reading some of these comments and it's clear that they had made up their mind what they were gonna write before they even watched the interview. How is she disrespecting MMA? And since when is boxing not a part of MMA? A wrestler or BJJ says he/she is going to go into MMA though he/she can't throw a descent punch to save his/her life and nobody says their disrespecting MMA. Ben Askren still can't throw a descent punch and he's retired. I'm assuming that those saying that she is disrespecting MMA are young and haven't been around since the beginning when each fighter came with his own discipline to test it against everyone else's. It has since evolved into what we know today. She clearly points out that she has the "best hands" in women's fighting, she never said she's the best female fighter. She clearly says that she isn't going to just jump into MMA against Amanda, which means she is aware that her chances of winning that fight are slim. She wants to take time to learn the other aspects of the sport, the same as every fighter you have ever seen has had to do, and work her way up. That's showing respect. Only recently are we seeing fighters come up practicing MMA as a whole. Of course she should feel confident as a 2 time Olympic gold medalist and as reigning women's boxing champion that she'll beat any female in a boxing match. How many of you think Amanda would beat Claressa in a straight boxing match? If you believe that then you are probably one of the few that thought Connor could actually beat Mayweather and you are the one being disrespectful. Izzy had no ground game. Look how far he got before he finally lost. It took a bigger fighter in a heavier division to beat him. Just give her time and let her develop in the sport. [Edit: Amanda Nunes has shot down any idea that she would even consider boxing Claressa. So that let's you know how she thinks a boxing match between the two would go.]
She telling the truth though, she a better striker/boxer but Amanda can confuse Clarissa with leg kicks and fake takedowns to catch her off guard. Both are great fighters would pay for this fight
MMA fans, please get off your "High Horse" saying an MMA fighter will beat a boxer every time in a street fight. That's simply isn't true. Most street fights don't last more than 10-20 seconds and usually ends with a quick KO. NOT a kick, a right or left cross to the face...And Boxers are king at that!...And if it goes to the ground, it's someone like Tyson, what do you think's he's gonna do? Bite any dudes face right off!

The idea that wrestlers, bjj practitioners and kick boxers can transition to mma over the course of 5 to 10 years and compete at a high level - while boxers cannot, is farcical. It took me the same amount of time to learn how to check a leg kick that it took to throw a jab.
The REASON boxers dont step into mma is because the prize (aka the money) is far greater in boxing. If mma was the premier combat sport, and if no one cared about boxing (I.e. if there was no money in boxing - similar to bjj or kickboxing) you WOULD see boxers cross over and some would do well.

Have Amanda Nuñes go into boxing she will look goofy asf to me shields has a better chance to go into mma and be successful then Amanda going to boxing and even win one fight
