It looks like early indo iranian tribes had different types of marriage or cohabitations. May be according to their individual tribes rules and norms and their interactions with each other. Getting a child before marriage and that from a man they are not married to and marrying 5 men were more like indo iranian tribal rules or unique norms to each tribes besides conventional marriage of one woman and a man. This also hints at parwati and her son ganapatis birth from the dirt from her body , without the knowledge of shiva , her husband. Parwati belong to one of the indo iranian tribe in the himalayas like sati who was daughter of daksh.
