Blooming Hoyas! The ones in my collection.

- Today I reveal all the Hoyas out of my collection that has bloomed for me. These plant beauties have been not only easy care, but also pretty easy to bloom for most. Join me as I rank my most prolific bloomers to the modest ones.

I love Hoya for all of the character they bring. The leaf patterns, sizes, shapes, thicknesses, etc! The flowers are juat a lovely bonus. Like others have mentioned too, they're so much more manageable, for the most part, than a lot of other hanging or climbing plants.
Ive learned that giving them water a bit sooner and fertilizing while theyre pushing blooms helps to keep them from blasting. I tried it on my caudata and so far so good because it was blasting pretty early before.
All of your Hoya are inspiring me to dive deeper into this Genus!

Why I love Hoyas:
Theres just so many levels of being interesting. Its not just a plant for the leaves, its not just a plant for the flowers, its a full package deal
- leaf shapes
- splash/variegation/venation
- textures (raised or sunken veins, velvety, fluffy, silky smooth)
- flower appearance
- flower scent
- most Hoya stay manageable and contrary to other climbing plants can be looped on a trellis
- many of them do just fine for me year round in the windowsill without growlights or humidifiers or anything
Hoyas that have bloomed so far this year:
- Caudata Sumatra
- Cutis Porcelana
- Elliptica
- Heushkeliana inner variegated
- Icensis
- Kerrii inner variegated
- Kerrii normal
- Krohniana super silver
- Patella pink
- Rebecca
And quite a few of the same and others that are currently budding up!
Its so fun!
Caudata Sumatra, Cutis Porcelana and Patella Pink blasted a lot of their buds (maybe some of the others too, but not as noticable). Microstemma made a peduncle and buds, but blasted them all, I am happy to wait for it though!

I dont like drinking (normal) water either and forget to often! But herb tea (both hot and cold) or water with a slice of fruit, mint or cucumber in it seems to go better for me

Bloom 🌸🎉 I love hoyas because they fit my lifestyle. They're not too fussy and forgiving if you neglect them a bit. My Noona is also in bloom and I agree it smells like butterscotch/buttered popcorn! I got into these plants for their ease of care, but now I get excited when they flower. 🌼🏵🌿

I love your enthusiasm! I didn't understand the big deal about Hoyas at first. I thought they looked so similar. But then I started looking online and saw more variety. I mostly get Hoyas for the leaves since the flowers don't last very long. I'm really loving the silver ones. I wish they weren't so expensive. My Super Silver and Snow Caps have bloomed.
@@pinkdreamstuff I wish they were not pricey. But it does teach me patience. I’ll just wait until it gets down to an affordable price.
Bloom! Just started getting into Hoyas. I have 20 now and want more. The only ones I’ve had bloom is my variegated obovata and my sunrise.
@@vicky3792 I would love to have my sunrise to bloom. Collecting Hoya can be addicting.
Bloom. I got a Hoya because I love the shape,thickness of the leaves and the splash. And they are non toxic to
Animals. I don’t like that they get spider mites.

Pam, I don’t know if this will be the case with your Hoyas but I find if I have one that blasts its blooms it was because I watered as the blooms were getting ready to open. Every time! So I cut back watering until they have bloomed and started to drop the flowers and so far this has kept the blooms from blasting. Some Hoyas are just finicky like that. Experiment and see if it works for you. Good luck!

What do you do for flatmates on your Hoya. It seems they just spread to every plant and I have sprayed them with everything including sulfur and they continue to attack the new growth. What do you do?
@@Horsewoman-pt2ku the pest that most frequently attacks my plants are spider mites and mealy bugs. I spray them down with water followed by insecticidal soap. The thing is you may have to treat the plant a couple times during the week. Then I use neem oil once I get a hold on everything. But being persistent with your treatment is key. Good luck!
I had flat mites too. The sulfur worked. But it is a pain to keep up with. I treated mine every week for 6 weeks. I have a LOT of Hoyas and it took up so much time and it’s messy. I also get mealies. I use alcohol for what I can see and then I use the miracle spray of 1/4 cup of tea tree Castile soap 1/4 cup of peppermint Castile soap, 1 cup of 70% alcohol and 2 T of hydrogen peroxide - I also add about a T of sulfur powder to that and spray weekly
@@ccarroca1 I think I’m going to go back to that spray. I hate the sulfur on the leaves
Bloom. Not much is blooming now. And my multiflora also just blasted a whole bunch of blossoms. AND she's pretty new, so I have no idea what her blooms do look like. Why do I like them? Because their fairly compact. Not like monstera, or philodendron. And there are so many different kinds. So different from each other.
