      For me the GE 200 Wins. The Ampero is a little bit to hissy, but with a little EQing it should be good

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  5 лет назад +4

      The first thing I noticed about the ampero was how much top end it had in comparison to the ge200 (or even older modelers like podhd and axefx ultra), and I actually liked that. I'd rather h as very it and not need it than need it and not have it I guess? Lol

  • @MarcAndreLevesque

    Ampero sounds more open while the Mooer is compressed like crazy, throw some custom IRs and the Ampero will surpass the Mooer by a mile.

    • @fivinh0
      @fivinh0 4 года назад +3

      GE200 is sounding completely weird. It's not how it sounds. He's using the same EQ preset for both devices and hotone is indeed sounding much better. Probably he found some good EQ settigns on hotone and then ported the same settings to GE200 instead trying to find settings that fit better with Mooer. You can find newer videos from Taylor comparing devices (ge200, hotone, hx stomp and fractal) and GE200 was killing.

  • @SusNoodle

    Something I've noticed in these comparisons is the difference in clarity and crispness between them. Is it the mic placement or the type of connections? To be clear I'm of the opinion that the ampero sounds better and less muddy here.

  • @Imetalman2000
    @Imetalman2000 5 лет назад +5

    I’m still torn. The ampero cuts though the mix better, but the GE200 sounds cleaner when isolated.

      They both have their pros and cons!

  • @dissonantstyle
    @dissonantstyle 4 года назад +5

    I wanted to like the Mooer, but I much prefered the way the ampero cuts through the mix. I especially liked the rectifier. Soloed it too hissy sometimes, but it's easier to cut that out than to boost it in. On the Soldano and the rectifier the hiss is nicely balanced out with the copious amounts of bottom end! Must say I own a Engl powerball and these sound absolutely nothing like it. :)

    Great comparison congrats! It could be interesting to compare both units using the same IR to have a better idea of the amp modeling differences. Here I mostly here a very different cab/mic with some variation of gain structure. It would be more obvious if the cabs IR where identical.

    I have the ampero and think it has much better articulation and tone sculpting options than the ge200. I play a baritone 7 in drop g tuning so I need more defined attack and whatnot, the ampero provides a perfect compact answer to my rig needs.

    Mooer sounds better and why there is hiss sound on ampero?

    • @GearsyGGAA
      @GearsyGGAA 4 года назад

      Bob Dimension most likely the ground lift. Mine does this as well unless I use the ground lift switch. The Mooer really has a lot of identical amp tones but the ability to change that up is the variables like cabs, mics, and ir’s. I will say after using both the ampero seems way more versatile imo. A lot of models people have demoed that didn’t do well in shoot outs I found came down to how differently the mic and cabs were voiced. They could technically be named the same models but they’re drastically different across platforms. The ampero actually has amazing amp models that rivals my helix on a few of them

    • @Aarindammukherjie555
      @Aarindammukherjie555 4 года назад

      @@GearsyGGAA thank you for your eye opening reply. I am really confused whether I should go for ampero or not. All the demos I have seen I observed mooer having mid oriented sound and ampero having high mids. I don't know whether it's just difference in eq or it's the way it is. Another fear is the touch screen panel which I think is a very sensitive part of the unit and most unlikely to get any technical support from ampero in India for any issues related. What do you say on these?

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  5 лет назад +3

      Thanks bro! 🙌 yeah, I feel the same way. They both are great and have awesome value for their price. I moved to the ampero because it has more I/O and has slightly higher fidelity. BUT, hard to tell from videos, those buttons are definitely closer together. If you use the foot switches, its important to know that the extra 1/2 inch the ge200 has in foot switch space makes a huge difference.

    Man your videos are really cool! I think the 5150 and Powerball sounded better on the Mooer, and the other tones sounded better on the Ampero. What I've found with my GE200 is that some amp models sound better than others. Luckily for me the 5150 models (which are the ones I use) are the best sounding IMO. Also, there is a Dual Rec model on the Mooer but it is not included in the unit itself, you have to download it from the mooer site. That dual rec amp sounds a lot better than the tri rec amp (which I've found it sounds bad, at least for me). Keep up with the good videos man!

      Thanks for the tip, I'll have to go download it! I didn't see it in the list of amp models when I planned this video out. And thanks so much for the kind words! 🤘🙌🤘

    Got one for Christmas
    This pedal is more suited for low tuning drop c
    It cuts right through and sounds a lot better
    But regular tuning to me you can’t get that
    It’s way to much mids no matter how much you try to eq or mic or ir it
    There is no smooth transition iether it’s to high or to dull sounding
    If you want your drop tuning to cut through this is the pedal
    Regular for me nooooooo

    I recently started playing guitar again after a decade. So i am looking for a effects pedal. i started from the range of 50£ lol then moved to 150£ i was about to buy a used hd500 but then i found about hd500x and then ge200. Now hotone !! I think its time to put brakes on looking for pedal and just settle with ge200 lol. as the price jump is 100£+ between hotone and mooer here !!

    I briefly had a "shit, maybe I should've got the ampero instead?" Moment when I ordered my GE 200, but with the IRs I got from Seacows, honestly I feel like the difference isn't so dramatic. On an unrelated note, that first riff you did reminded me a lot of Adema.
