To be fair in the manga the girls do look identical because there is no color
I mean, of course this reminded me of osomatsu-san in terms of “many identical siblings.” And it made me appreciate the little details _that_ show used to differentiate the sextuplets. They’re all color-coded, yes, but there’s also little things-like how their hair is highlighted with their respective colors, for example.
Additionally, each of the characters has a different feature unique to them: karamatsu has thick eyebrows, choromatsu has smaller pupils and doesn’t have a cowlick, ichimatsu has messy hair, jyushimatsu has vacant eyes and one cowlick, and todomatsu has big pupils. They also have distinct STYLES, and you can compare the way they dress, their expressions, and their poses to tell them apart that way, as well. The characters can still be easily mixed up, and still are functionally identical, but once you get to know their differences, it’s incredibly easy to tell them apart.
I understand that Osomatsu has a much more cartoony style, but I don’t see why a show like this couldn’t also do something like that as well, if they really wanted to pull the “identical siblings” bit. Hightlight colors, eye shine/eye shape, eyebrows, maybe one sister is more athletic and has a tan and the shy one is a shade paler than the others, that kind of thing. If their hair styles were different with just the cut, then it would still work-but the different colors is really pushing it, lol
I was going to say that as well. I also really love this anime because of how unique it is compared to other comedy anime. One of my favorite characters from that show is Karamatsu because he's a lot more unique and he's actually really amazing in his own way even if he lives with his brothers, he's still amazing none the less. I also have a huge crush on him and I'm always going to be a proud Karamatsu girl no matter what. I know it sounds weird of me saying that, but that's the actual truth and I do mean it.
regarding the whole hair thing, i think it might only be a thing so that the audience can tell them apart and isn't actually like that in universe. but i'll admit that's just what i think and i don't have any evidence to back it up

I agree with you. There are times throughout the show that the twins use their identical appearance to fool Futaro. Even though it was obvious to us (the audience), it may not have been obvious to Futaro. They probably all looked the same to people in the anime. That's why Futaro had to look for other ways to tell them apart. Even the girls' grandfather told Futaro to pick up on the differences between them since they are identical.
I was complaining about S1 when the girls didn't want to study and ends up running away from the MC! Do they want to fail if they are doing so badly with their grades? But when S2 rolled around that's when I started to love it with the whole romance part! They love playing that joke of who is who game with the MC! Who will be his wife in the end for S1 and S2?

I reviewed the 1st season of the Quintessential Quintuplets, & I gave it a 7/10.
ShadowACS could you do an episode on vampire knight.
Itsuki was kinda charming the first episode, then was annoying until around 6 and then she became kinda nice again. She’s childish and a hard worker but is so overwhelmed by her need to get everything right she never finishes her tests. Except for the fact that she’s the first quintuplet we meet in the story I don’t see her as being the final love interest.( Same for the manga, but none of us saw that reveal coming. I don’t mind if they stick to the manga ending but if the due they need to spend at least a little more time on her than they did in the manga. Personally I hope they change it but I doubt they will, they’ve stayed 85 % faithful in recreating the manga.)
- I actually dig S1 a lot. The show justifies enough why the characters have a rocky start at first and seeing them opening up to each other over time is nice to see. Something like the ending of 7 Goodbye's (when they jumped into the river) would not feel so rewarding and satisfying if it was not for the MC winning them over by earning their trust and respect.
The show is also as much about the girls opening up to the MC as the MC opening up to the girls.
- As a manga reader, S2 is meh for me. It has the same amount of eps. as S1 but adapts twice as much chapters. As a result many things are not as impactful as the manga and I am also not a fan of some of the changes they made in adapting some scenes.... something like the confession scene you mentioned, had more impact in the manga.
Even with me bitching about how they adapted things, if I look at the reactions of anime onlies and the fact that most don't feel like there is something off here... I guess S2 had to do some things right.
My ramblings aside, nice video as usual.

That hairstyle feature you mentioned from TQQ reminded me of a story part from 1 of the SAOA light novel books that the anime skipped over. For those who want to know check the book Sword Art Online Volume 10 Alicization Running. . It's where the book mentions Teline and Telure and how those two could only told apart by the colour or their hairbows and how they liked to switch their bows to fool Kirito and Eugeo into mixing up their names being Teline and Tellure. I'd rather not spoil the rest of the book.

Personally I started liking the show on the second episode. But around the halfway point I started seeing them breakaway from the cliches. But the stuff you liked in season 2 is the same as me, ( I didn’t like nino until around the confession as well. And yeah…. Drugging people is a crime and she does it A LOT.)watching all the friendships grow and seeing the sisters try to navigate the problem without destroying their family. Miku is my favorite because she has the most character development . ( and because they spend the most time on her relationship with futaro.)
I remember starting to watch this this as the first season was airing, but dropped it after that scene you mentioned where the sister drugs Futaro.

I don't hang around on facebook anymore. I read about The Quintessential Quintuplets via Neo Magazine and then saw it on sale on DVD and Blu-ray in many HMV stores in the UK. I've yet to purchase and own the series of it on DVD or Bluray or watch the series of it online via my Laptop or Samsung TV at home. Good Review. I might have a different view of this Futuro character to you when I do watch the TQQ series. Like you Shadow I'm not a fan of Sailor Moon or any other anime from the Magical Girl Genre except for CardCaptor Sakura and Puella Magi Madoka Magica those two I give an acceptance to because 1 is darker story wise and they both aren't as flashy or long with transformation sequences as the others or too big on fantasy part of those other animes.
Good Review Shadow and I agree that the first season ok to average while the second season good to fine. This is the only anime I ever seen where the main dude likes to study when most of us in general hate studying.

Me: Speaking of which, do you plan on doing that with My Bride is a Mermaid? Cause based on your Top 10 Worst anime video from a few years ago, that tells me you only watched the first 2 episodes before calling it bad. Which IMO is unfair.

Want you to review. It is an anime that is so bad it’s good. The action scenes are OK and there are some good characters like Lieutenant jail,Hina( before episode 20 when she became kinda gross) Lyne, and Nana( I thought she was just going to be the boring fan service character but she quickly became one of the better characters on the show she is fun multi layered and actually has a character arc. Plus her chemistry with jail is sweet.) however the main character is boring and even when he is interesting it is undercut by the fact that he keeps making the same mistakes over and over again trying to be self-sacrificing but in reality just being selfish. Also characters that are set up to be completely immoral have bad redemption arc‘s like on fairytale the story is so so and honestly I probably would have stopped after the first episode if some of the characters weren’t so unexpectedly endearing.

All the good this series has and the ending of the manga threw all of it in the trash and made it all completely pointless. Everything after episode 2 doesn't matter in the end. Honestly as much as i loved this series the ending ruined it for me

When I found out it might be Itsuki who he marries I dropped the second season, A lack of development means a no watch of season 2 for me.

Meh. This still feels like another boring harem. The MC just seems too unlikeable and the girls are just OK. Still, I am glad you enjoyed it at least.
