Oh, gods ! what a non-competent person you are in the 3D sphere. also give advice to other people... To begin with, Maya is not a standard for 3D modeling (polymodeling).for this purpose, 3ds max was created. Maya is sharpened for animation.also, many 3d designers use several 3d pockets at once. for example, a bunch of fusion360, 3ds max, zbrush. yes, in addition to maya and blender, there are also such packages as cinema 4D, 3ds max, fusion 360, shapr3d, etc. you can use a bunch of several programs. among the programs with polygonal modeling, the Blender is not the best, it's just free! and that cartoon nart, which you call "real time" rendering, is not physically correct rendering, and blender is not the only program where you can turn on a real time picture immediately in the viewport...
@@sahaksahakyan2404 Mr.Sahak, Berk sir already said that based on his experience with the tools and software was the video based on. The facts you are typing are true but i hope you listened to him carefully what he said, Have a great day ahead.
@@sahaksahakyan2404 Hey Sarak, It seems that you really know your stuff and you have mentioned so many different 3d packages - we are all very impressed. I fail to understand exactly what you have ranted about, though. I think Berk has been pretty clear on talking about 3d from the point of the Car Design Process, not specifically 3d or rending. He is absolutely correct in saying that Maya has (up till now) been industry standard for Poly Modelling in Car Design. In the process of designing cars, you are trying to crystalise ideas and realise volumes in 3d. You are also working out the graphical break-up of surfaces and showing material intent. Sometimes you are developing multiple volumes and would like to showing the variation between said volumes through a visual morph. Blender is an incredible tool for facilitating all of this. There is also a sketching element to the program that I have seen Designers using as well as an intuitive VR component. The general consensus is in the Car Design Industry, therefore, is that Blender is not just a free tool, but an incredibly dynamic one. Pay attention, think and listen before you go around attacking people.
I completely agree. Blender is a blessing. It has everything for modeling, animation etc. Only problem is part production. If you are designing a product, only use of blender would be visualizing the final result. Alias is a perfect surfacing/nurbs software. Solidworks is also an option, but it is more focused on mechanical engineering.
Very helpful video ! At first when I wasn't heard much about blender , I thought it's a noob software but after practicing modelling it was so ausome experience with blender.. we can see many pro blender youtubers who easily render highly realastic shots better than softwares like maya , 3ds max which requires very deep knowledge..
With sketching you can resolve surfaces in your head much easier. In Gravity Sketch its either right or wrong and without a lot of experience its very hard to get the desired effect quickly. A sketch can be interpreted by anyone but if you're in gravity sketch its either right or wrong like I said.
You should do an updated video. I would agree and add; Pen and paper / photoshop for initial sketch AI for quick iteration GravitySketch for quick translation into 3D wireframe and sketch modelling Alias / Blender for surface refinement Blender / VRED / Unreal for rendering
The automotive industry uses A-Class surfacing tools like Alias then engineering 3d models (of individual parts) are created from the surfaces using NX or Catia depending what company you are working for. I have used blender at home and it is complicated but powerful.
Thanks Berk! I’m an industrial designer and I am trying to choose between Rhino and Blender as a secondary surface + ideation software after SW. You really trigger me to go for Blender but every time I think if it will work with the production phase and if you can do the same stuff like in Grasshopper! Anyhow, great videos! Thanks for all the free advice and keep up! Cheers from Austria!
Thank you Stefanos! Blender is amazing for ideation and creativity, you can model your ideas in 2-3 days way quicker than nurbs modelling. It is not for production that's true however i think it is worth to spend couple days first to be sure about your design and then you can model anyway in SW or Rhino etc.. Otherwise many designers struggle time-software balance and limit themselves because of this. Let me know if you will have any questions about my course or in this topic in general!
Good work. I prefer ICEMSurf for Class-A modeling. I tested Alias and the quality of surfaces is worse than ICEMSurf. Maybe not on large patch. But on the fillet, Alias is not perfect.
I personally prefer blender, it's easy to model in it, you have subd tools, you can create an amazing environment and so much more. I started trying to design my own concept car in it too, and it's going pretty well!! The thing is, with blender, you can also experiment with abstract shapes and random decimate tools, to add a silhouette !! And then the transition of the silhouette can be animated until we have a base shape for the car!! So yeah, I agree with you 😂🔥 Thank you Berk!!

If someone have advices or something to add or else,it would be a pleasure. Thanks all ! Good video !
