This Peter DeRose tune is almost forgotten now in the popular mind. Often thought of in the same vein as “Stardust” (Mitchell Parish wrote the lyrics of both) which will always be played by some tenor player, somewhere in the world, every night till the end of time. But “Deep Purple” is a fine melody with an interesting structure and lovely changes, which Scott, Nicki and the band explore delightfully.

The great - Very great - Scott Hamilton. No one better in smooth and cool as he sings the tune with his sax...in my not at all humble opinion. Nicki just great on the base and the guys too. Great job on this beautiful old tune. Love Nicki's singing too, beautiful voice in others I've heard.
Rossano Sportiello, where have you been all my life? Equally good as a bandmate and soloist, fabulous touch and technique. Nicki seems to be channeling Ray Brown. Great drumming too. Not to mention Scott on sax. Wonderful music and recorded sound.
Nicely done. I can recall when Scott Hamilton was the new guy on the scene with the throw-back sound...we've both aged a bit since then. The other players are new to me but I will have to explore Ms. Parrott some more. Gorgeous tone and an attractive lady with an engaging smile who obviuosly enjoys what she does. Kudos to the group and thanks for posting.
