I was actually angry when I discovered there was a different soundtrack for the sake of version because I really like the super Nintendo version and I didn't like the Sega version of music
I don't care what anyone says the SNES version of the Living Forest is STILL the creepiest version to me. The sound the trees make accompanied with that music? Still sends chills down my spine.
Night Yoshi I used to hate fighting here as a kid. Now it’s actually my favorite stage, so imagine the sense of happiness I felt when in MK 2011 you could throw people into the trees’ mouths 😂
SNES- Took the arcade soundtrack and retained its quality, while giving a bit softer, less abrasive sound. Genesis- Rewrote a lot of the music, but replaced it with some catchy tunes that are of pretty high quality, because Matt Furniss did the work. Graphics-wise, it's not even a contest. The SNES version looks far superior, and same goes with sound effects that the Genesis version is sadly missing.
***** The 32x version just fixes problems the Genesis version should have fixed in the first place, but yes it is better than the SNES version for the most part, though I do love the SNES ost.
Well, it sets a nice environment. Very sinister, good instrumentation, and ominous in tone. The samples are sadly of a lower quality compared to the SEGA version. But that's all there is to that version. Played both versions a lot during the time. The SEGA has some catchier moments here and there, but all in all the instruments haven't aged well. Finally, it's missing too many sounds and voices (besides it containing too many farts).
@@kasepetunca9860 It is. The Sega Genesis version had better audio quality and wasn't compressed like the SNES one. If you want a more energetic and retro soundtrack, Genesis. If you want a more atmospheric, gloom soundtrack that sounds more modern. SNES.
I can't understand people saying that the Genesis version is darker than the SNES version. This soundtrack gives you pure horror while the Genesis one sounds so silly.
LOL @ darker soundtrack. Mortal Kombat was goofy as fuck even back then. Genesis soundtrack sounds better instead of trying to imitate the arcade soundtrack and doing a poor job of it like the SNES version did.
I’ve always preferred the Snes music since it’s more authentic to the arcades, especially in MK 1, and I can (kind of) get why some may like the Genesis soundtrack better than this one, but saying the Genesis music of MK1 and 2 outshines the Dan Fordens music from the arcade is just ridiculous. Dan Fordens original compositions cannot be outdone, especially by the lower quality Genesis hardware.
So sick omfg I would totally spend top dollar if this were ever available on cd form. I bought The Immortals Mk cd brand new; couple weeks ago. It's pretty sweet, but this is what I really wanted ;)
This game's music was poorly mixed. It would've been pretty good if it was level-balanced about half as well as Genesis (which was oddly-arranged but sounds much better mix-wise).
SNES music always sounded muffled to me and trumpety this soundtrack is faithful to the arcade port but i dont like it. Megadrive version is overall more powerful than this.
@@vitorsmoke1837 kkk, pois é, vai do gosto, o assunto é com relação a música, e basta ouvir, nitidamente a musica do mega é bem melhor. As musicas de arcade são uns lixos, da até dor de cabeça.
If you’ve enjoyed this MKII Soundtrack, maybe check out the version meant for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive?

@@TangentChaos They can't sound the same because of completely different sound chips, but Probe could at least put the music on the right stages...
@@xyzzy-dv6te yes, and the most tracks are composited complete different from Arcade/SNES...
This WAS my 90's!
I like the SNES' soundtracks even more than the Arcade's! It's overall one of my all time favourite games, such a masterpiece!
This game was a piece of art

That stage is the reason why I remember this game
Me too..
The MK4 Living Forest is still my favourite
Sounds like I've been missing some cool stff.
The dead pool music is so sinister !!
i measn at the time dead pool wasnt rhe dead pool we all know and love
Still a proud owner of this game... Good times.

SNES version is the best. Hands down.
Jogo sensacional bons tempos.

***** Graphics wise, it's debatable. The SNES version had better backgrounds, while the 32x version definitely had better sprites and animation.

seriously you think that the music of the Snes is better than Sega, are you fucking deaf or what?

First SNES game I've ever owned.

Reptiles green was so badass back then.
The Armory absolutely slams
Best MK2 sountrack!
só música massa! muito bom
SNES was the best for any retro Mortal Kombat game it feels and sounds right everything else sounds silly. But that's my opinion
Yeah, the sound and music from the Genesis ports of MK1 and 2 don’t come close to this or the arcades quality.
Mk1 was decent, but, other than the original arcade, the SNES soundtrack for 2 blows Genesis out of the water
This version wins for me. It's just so sinister that it has a tone that is all its own. Transcends the arcade port.
The intro theme so SNES sounds cooler than the arcade version.
8:44 the best 🔥
I love the song at 10:42.Better than the atcade version.

Yess!! I feel the same way

this shit sounds
polyphonic. are you deaf?!!! you dont got ears my godness
Best version :')
Outworld sounds much creepier on the SNES.
The Living Forest scared me when I played it when I was 9 years old.
The Sega Genesis version is KING. Genesis music is too iconic and just better

SNES always sounds better than Megadrive in the most games. In MK2 I even like the SNES-soundtracks more than the Arcade's!

That is all.
Some of the sampled instruments have a lot of white noise in them. I wonder if that would have been noticable on real hardware?
I recall the "white noise" being on the actual SNES.
I think the white noise you are hearing is actually the "female chorus". It wasn't very well synthesized from the arcade version.
Love it

The SNES music is much more impressive than I gave it credit for. I think the effect is spoiled by the glitchy/shortened sound effects when fighting.
Does anyone know what the sources of the samples are from?

DEAD POOL AND SHAN SUNG
bem melhor do que os ost do arcade
usuário de drogas
reptile is the best
That is so old compared the other version
Portal 2 is the best
Faltou o Goro's Lair.
The GENESIS version is a child rated , unlike the SNES mature rated you can tell from the Graphics and soundtracks

They put the music on the exact same stages as in arcade (except Goro's Lair), Genesis order just sounds wrong to me
SNES music always sounded muffled to me and trumpety this soundtrack is faithful to the arcade port but i dont like it. Megadrive version is overall more powerful than this.
The sound on the SNES is by far theeeee worst out of all them...
Great soundtrack ! One of the most inspirating, dark OST i've never heard !! the game is also awful !!
ugh after sega this is trash
Sega music is superior
Ha ha ha ha... You weak pathetic fool!
Músicas muito pobres. A da Sega são bem melhores e mais nítidas:
