I watched hundreds of Ernie's games on WGN and saw him once live at Wrigley field when I was 12. I loved his exuberance for the game. He always had a witty saying… My favorite was 'the Cubs will be heavenly in 67-Ly' ....you know Ernie is up in baseball heaven telling everybody it's a beautiful day let's play two
Not old enough to have seen him, but I met him during a card show just before the 1988 All Star Game and he was a great human being! Even got an autograph with others. A moment I will never forget. Walked in with Mr. Mickey Mantle and when left saw Mr. Andre Dawson and got his autograph! What more can a kid ask for!!!

Played for the joy of the game. His attitude is an inspiration well beyond and baseline or park fence.

HEY HEY! Love ya Ernie!
My baseball hero when I was a kid… a million years ago.
Second greatest SS in MLB history, behind only Honus.
I, as a fan of the crosstown White Sox, don't have a negative word to say about Ernie Banks.
Legends
The most positive baseball player and hardest hitting shortstop!
Alex Rodriguez
@@doublem1975xIn the 50s and 60s there was only 20 teams. 69 had 24 teams. Around was playing with AAA putchers.

Cool footage!!!! Go Cubs
I kinda notice most black people had been called hey hey 👋👋, cool awesome 👍😎🙏,like Willie Mays 🖤🤟
Ernie Banks wasn't called "Hey Hey." That was Jack Brickhouse's signature homerun call.
Almoar all Ernie video is when he is already past his prime.
How does this have downvotes? God bless Mr. Sunshine, Ernie Banks!
明るい性格、人気者、大スター😊
ひざの故障後に成績が下がったのは残念でしょうけど😢
Was a good defensive shortstop, but I guess that footage is all gone?
Mr cub I watched 👀 every game it was beautiful miss ❤️ those days 😢 thanks
"Hwwoooooooeeeeee!" - Jack Brickhouse
Amazing how jammed Wrigley was back in a time when the Cubs weren't particularly good. Cubs fans have to be the best in the game and I'm a Yankee fan.
Better athlete then Kobe fr fr
The selfish Kobe. Look at 2004 finals. Kobe was soooo great. Lakers list in t games.
Awesome to see these Classic Highlights!! I had a few Ernie Banks Cards from the 1950's . Nice to see the "Stats&Star" Come alive
Let's play two today he was great 👍 the sixty nine seasons was the best but we lost don't know what happened loved them all great ❤️ team
Cubs won in 2016
