    Buses are fine, but trolleys are way better. It’s apart of Philadelphias’s culture. SEPTA needs to restore this trolley route ASAP!!

      32 years ago? Maybe it is not a part of the culture any more

    In South Philadelphia this trolly ran north on 11th Street and South on 12th Street, I lived on 9th Street and rode it often during the 60’s & 70’s. I wish SEPTA would bring this back as a tourist attraction.

      @@edgebartholomew4231 I heard that it’s a possibility that they’ll be restoring the 23 trolley as light rails in the future. There’s no guarantee

      @@johnjohnson4610 There have been whispers - *nothing* more substantial - that some service might be restored on the upper end where streets are wider. Sadly there seems to be no chance of any restoration further south. Both the city and SEPTA have surrendered to auto traffic.

    I drove this chestnut hill trolley, it was only driven on the weekends. Most likely, I was driving this trolley, while the person was filming. I am the last person to operate the rt 23 trolley, in regular service. The last day Feb 28, 1992.

    what names this city?

  • @RRansomSmith
    @RRansomSmith 5 лет назад +3

    This was the Chestnut Hill Trolley, not Route 23.
    This was a separate operation that ran between Germantown Depot and Chestnut Hill Loop.

    • @RRansomSmith

      The only commonality were the cars and the track route

    • @SebisRandomTech
      @SebisRandomTech 5 лет назад

      Then why does the front window of the trolley very clearly say “23”? If you’re going to act like such a know it all at least get your facts correct.

    • @RRansomSmith
      @RRansomSmith 5 лет назад +2

      @@SebisRandomTech Because at that time, they didn't have a Chestnut Hill Trolley sign so they used what was there, hence the Germantown Ave - Gorgas Lane sign. Not to mention, that pale green paint scheme it has, never was a PTC scheme. It was a special scheme for that service. Every REGULAR service car was red, white and blue at this time. Plus, I have family that operated that route so I know it well.
      Maybe YOU need to do your research before you talk about what you DON'T know. I'm well versed in my hobby, sir. How about you don't be a douche your whole life, buddy.

    • @RRansomSmith
      @RRansomSmith 5 лет назад +1

      And for the record, the CHT ran over the rails of ROUTE 23.
      And railfan charters, often changed the signs to the routes that they operated over so that they can get pictures of cars with correct signs.
      But keep thinking you know everything.
