I really hope this gets read one day... The Walking Dead could still be and highly rated and interesting show without killing characters for shock value...this recent change in story did not bode well with viewers as the ratings are still dropping...Here's the deal, It is up to the showrunners to take the material and make it work...People are saying this is because they are using the comics as the source, so what about other shows like HBO's Game of Thrones or True Blood? What about movies? ...90% of the movies we go see come from a book or a comic...the writers, the directors, the producers and the actors all work together to make that material into something memorable...take for example Stephen King's It or Marvel's the Avengers ... they came from written works...they took the material presented to them; a book, a comic and adapted it their own way...What makes the Walking Dead any different? They did it for four seasons...They did not use the source material for most of the first four seasons and honestly those were the best seasons in the shows history...And this is coming from an avid comic reader...honestly the show got worse when they started using the comics...why? because the writing got lazy...they didn't interpret the comics they used the comics directly...for example, Negan's entire speech in Season 6, Episode 16 - The First Day of the Rest of Your Life... was taken word-from-word from the comics...the only difference on the show is that the omitted the F-bombs...the writers did not change the dialogue, make the character more interesting or change him in anyway...What is the reason why the governor is a more popular villain than Negan? Because the writers made the governor different from the comics...The show started declining when the show writers got lazy...they stopped making the magic...they stopped making the show interesting...honestly they just stopped....and Gimple is the one letting it go on..He has been the showrunner of the Walking Dead since in 2013 and that is when the ratings started to decline...Before that if you believe it or not he just a writer for the show and surprisingly he was one of the best writers on the Walking Dead prior to becoming the showrunner. Killing Chandler is in my opinion is a desperation move...the only real way to save face for Scott Gimple is to go back to the format that worked in the early seasons...just use the comics for reference, develop interesting characters and for fuck's sake get the writers to write...Killing characters for no reason is not the way....that's just my two cents from a comic reader and show lover.
As my wife said: “what they are doing is insulting the viewers intelligence... I don’t care if I see anymore or not” I was heart broken seeing where the show has gone,from where it’s been. I hope they take yours..or someone’s advice!...in the beginning I was hypnotized!,mesmerized!...now I’m bewildered by 2:35 minute face shots and repetitive (remember-when’s) I’m afraid they went from trying to put out the best possible product to playing “how long can we string these dip-shits along for the money” all I have gotten from this season was a slap in the face. The most painful since season 4?...I think. But even the one I’m trying to remember had plenty of substance and payment for time and attention.
I just cannot accept Carl actually dying and them actually burying him.... That is freaking devastating. Carl Grimes being dead and in the ground for good is just... horrible. Rick & Michonne standing at that grave... just the thought makes my skin crawl. I can't believe it. Rick just getting up and walking away from his son's grave is ridiculous.

scott gimple must be stupid, this is the most out of character storyline, we have ever had! carl is supposed to be a badass and he gets killed for NO REASON? why put himself at risk like that for a stranger who just goes around killing walkers? my guess is they did not want to renew his contract because he is nearly 18 and at 18 they would have to give him a pay rise simple as that given this companies record it seems the most likely explanation they do not care about viewers what makes sense or Chandler Riggs

Also WTF are all these saviors keep coming from. Jeez they captured 35, killed at least 100/200. There weren't that many at sanctuary or they wouldn't have been nervous about the workers uprising. Makes no sense that at sanctuary alone was enough saviors to siege all three communities with any resistance.
They need to let Kevin from comic book men write this show a real fan who actually wants to see the literary version brought to life. Not play lets get some shocks and cliffhangers. Ruining the show for a small ratings spike.

I'm a bit shocked that the other leading actors didn't take a stand for this bullshit... seriously. Just because some Hollywood pansy gets upset with an actor he has to destroy the whole show?!? Someone should have used their million dollar voice and stood up for Chandler AND the longevity of the show. With all the political bullshit that happens on a daily basis and all the people that use their voice and take a stand... The argument "they shouldn't have done X because its not in the comic" doesnt hold up, it's just nót the comics. It's simply not an argument. Otherwise just say that you want an exact replica of the comics, which would suck because there would be no difference anymore. Where is the fun in that? But apart from that, my argument was that Carl hasnt had a very big role in the show (again, the show, never mind the comics) and they can easily miss him. It can bring interesting story arcs for Rick and Michonne. But again, at this point in the show, what will be missed by Carls absence, other than just his persona? I can't think of a single thing.

I will continue to follow this channel, but I am quitting the show once Carl dies. After Glenn, my only motivation to continue watching was the Grimes Family 2.0 unit. If you are asking was that the real reason Carl was fired, then, yes, if his father is telling the truth. The kid was promised to stay for another three years. Then he bought a house near the set and decided to postpone college for the filming. Then his parents asked the renewed contract to be more expensive as the current one was about to expire and he was fired during the s8 e6 rehearsal two weeks before his 18th birthday out of the blue. If you are asking if that is what everyone did when Chandler was fired, then, that is my guess. the show is dead either way. they never cared about the quality, they always fired people before characters develop to prevent them from becoming eligible for a raise. :( too bad, that is the best zombie story ever. I wish I could have seen what it would be like if they didn't only do it for the money. It would have earned them more money if they decided to invest properly. but amc and gimple got the funds to themselves. i give gimple up to a year. he will pay for this. he has been sabotaging the show on purpose ever since he became the main guy. he should have invested in it, but he chose to pursue the momentary gain instead. it is only about profit for him. killing characters for shock value and to hire cheaper actors is what he did, dragging the story through bottle episodes in order to minimize the scene frequency for actors just so he can extend the viewing time (more episodes=more money for him) and make their screen time pay lower. I can see and understand why people get frustrated with the show but I have never been so frustrated to seriously consider not watching it. I've seen things that I thought was kind of dumb or just not well thought out but it's still really good and keeps me coming back.
I want to see Rick go hatchet-terminator mode. When Carl was shot in the eye and he thought his son was done, we got probably the best terminator mode from Rick since Terminus. I dont know how Rick would allow Negan to live with Carl dying. I know Ricks statement about mercy, but Carl was Ricks reason for everything. Rick does tend to respect a dead persons wishes. I'm guessing that the old man Rick sequences from the premiere episodes were actually Rick's dream of a perfect future and not an actual flash forward to season 9, because in one of the old man Rick sequences you can see and hear Carl talk for a brief moment which obviously isn't going to happen if he dies next episode, thoughts?
I think a huge problem with TWD lately is that they don't give fans a payoff for villains. Villains suffer no real consequences. On GOT, Joffrey died. The Freys died. Ramsay Bolton died. Theon Greyjoy was endlessly tortured and lost his cock. Cersei will die. TWD is seemingly attempting to integrate Negan, Jadis, and others w/the mainstream characters in this kumbaya existence and have their actions go unpunished. I don't understand it. This was such a bad move. Carl Grimes was the one character who wasn’t supposed to die and saying things like it WAS supposed to happen for Rick’s comic book arc to make sense is complete bull. The show and the comic book weren’t the same thing from the beginning and suddenly when Glenn died they decided to be faithful to the comics and now they go back to doing whatever the hell they want? A bunch of hypocrites... They’re basically confirming they could’ve changed Glenn’s death with this stupid move. After Glenn died, Carl was the main reason I kept watching because he was one of my favorite characters. I am also one of those Grimes family 2.0 supporters and that precisely was the reason I ended up enjoying the show for some time until it all went downhill. As my sister Davie has previously stated in the comment section, there are also many people who are fans of the characters instead of the show itself. I think the scene with Negan with the three tied up walkers is from the comics when Negan is addressing the saviors, telling them to gunk up their weapons with the walkers.
Gimple needs to find other plot climax points or enhancements than killing off characters. It is called character and plot development. I don’t know if I can hang with this show much longer under these circumstances. The show is becoming repetitive and with the Wisperer war on the horizon, based on the story so far, I don’t see Scott Gimple providing high quality stories in the future. 😔😔😔

I watched the episode a little late couse I didn't had internet a few days. At least daryl got his vest back and rick his jacket and I'm glad daryl considers dwight one of the group when he said "All of us" in the sneak peek. Dwight is back at the sanctuary, do you think laura will cover for him?

I totally agree....my first thought when I saw the bite mark on Carl, was “what about 801 when we see the flash forward with Rick, Michonne, Judith and Carl, all living happily and listening to Weird Al Yankovich?” I now think that they were trying to show a dream sequence where Rick was dreaming about what his world would look like if he could kill off Negan successfully. Losing Carl is horrible. He's like everyone's son. We all watched him grow up, experienced his grief over his mom, we sat on the edge of our seats after he got shot in the stomach, then losing his eye. His death makes no sense at ALL. I just want to thank Chandler for 8 unbelievable years... I can't wait to see your career just get more diverse and more successful! ✌🏽❤️

My mother died before my dad, and when he passed away it was harder to deal with because all those feelings from my mothers' death came rushing back. It was like losing her all over again. I think Carls passing is kind of pulling memories of Glenn and Abe back up in peoples minds like it did when my father passed. I have a lot of mixed emotions about all of this. I sure hope its worth it in the end.
I am sorry but where was Kirkman in this? Why didn’t he fight for Carl? The comic was huge for him. Then the Forbes article mentioned the gap between the reason between what happens with Negan in the end of All Out War. Well I don’t think that was the reason to kill Carl? Imagine it like this: each FlashForward sequence of something that Rick was working toward, but was taken away by events in the present. So now they only exist in his dreams

Which major Savior character (the female with the neck tattoo who asked Eugene in Ep. 6 or 7 how much time he thought they had before the walkers surrounding the Sanctuary would find their way in) was it that Dwight killed during the ambush he drove them into when they went in pursuit of Alexandrians who fled the Safe Zone during Negan's assault on it?
My prediction is that in the season finale Rick will have Negan at the point of death and he'll be about to kill him but then it will cut to Rick's red eyes and he'll say "My Mercy will prevail over my wrath" which will show that the red eye Rick scene in the season premiere was a scene from the season finale and then he will save Negan's life and put him in Morgan's cell that he built
I'm calling it, they are going to use the conversation between Negan and Carl a way to guilt trip Negan. Rick may blame Negan for the death of Carl in the finale, to lower his guard.

Carl will be what brings peace. Negan's face when Carl was talking about the kids was the first time Negan looked concerned and "human". He always liked Carl & when Carl dies Negan will be as heartbroken as Rick. I think that's what will bring everyone together, eventually.

rick was the test subject for the antidote.that is why he never died after all the power was out.i am sure he was being fed through the i.v.the military was killing everyone there.a soldier entered ricks room & ignored him.probably because he knew rick was the cure test subject.carl gets shot & rick gives blood to carl.carl goes into a seizure from the blood mix reaction.then he stops seizuring & wakes up fine in a few days.
I hate the fact that Carl has to die too, but for those people saying that there is no Rick without Carl just a reminder in that episode when Rick and Michonne were alone looking for guns, (the one where the roof top they were standing on caved in.....Rick tried to kill a deer.....they found some guns) I remember Rick saying to Michonne that if he loses any other imporatant persons in his life for example, Carl, Michonne he would find a way to be ok with it and live on. He also suggested to Michonne that she adopts the same mentality. At the time I understood that at some point in this episode either Carl or Michonne would die. I wished that I was wrong though.
Reasons Negan will most likely die. *Killing Abraham and Glenn not only did he kill Glenn like originally intended, but he also killed Abraham a big asset to the group, two head bashings is almost unforgivable, if its forgivable at all. * Tried to make Rick Cut off Carl's arm. This broke Rick, and though Negan had already bashed in two great characters heads, Negan still felt the need to torture Rick further by making him hurt his own son. * Burning beds, taking guns He took the Alexandrian's beds when they weren't even needed, and burned them in the woods just to make the Alexandrian's suffer. Not only that, but in the comics he let them keep most of their essentials of survival, unlike the T.V. show where he is just a complete asshole. *Killing Spencer Even though it felt like a redeeming quality in the comics, in the show it felt more like he wanted to do it to fill his psychotic needs. *Sasha's death (Not his fault, but he will be blamed for it) Sasha, the sniper of the group dying was Negan's responsibility, whether it was his fault or not. *He was willing to kill Carl Last season he was actually willing to kill Carl and might have actually done it, if not for Shiva. Plenty more reasons why he is more likely to die in the show.
I really don't think that they`re going to kill Negan. I just think that with Carls death Rick is going to need someone else that can be a voice and help him lead and that might have to be with Negan.
TWD staff has said for along time no character is safe and not everything will be as the comics. Nobody should be too surprised. I understand the emotional response to Carl's death however, it is good that they deviate from the comics at times. Parts of Carl's comic storyline can be modified to suit another character or characters.
Killing off Carl destroys so many theories of how the show is being told. I know a big theory was that the whole show was Carl (as well as others) sharing stories after the whole apocalypse is done. What do y'all think?

I think the future with old man Rick is obviously fake now because of sweet baby Carl😭 but the scene with Rick crying and saying “Let my mercy prevail over my rath” is after Carl has died and that’s Rick trying to honour his son, so I think the 8B might open with that scene and then we’ll go back to before Carl has died.
I don't read the comics but I have heard something about Michoone leaving on a boat...what if Morgan is the one to leave after Rick fails to kill Negan..also I think they killed Carl off to give Rick a reason not to kill Negan

Because the writers made the governor different from the comics...The show started declining when the show writers got lazy...they stopped making the magic...they stopped making the show interesting...honestly they just stopped....and Gimple is the one letting it go on..He has been the showrunner of the Walking Dead since in 2013 and that is when the ratings started to decline...Before that if you believe it or not he just a writer for the show and surprisingly he was one of the best writers on the Walking Dead prior to becoming the showrunner. Killing Chandler is in my opinion is a desperation move...the only real way to save face for Scott Gimple is to go back to the format that worked in the early seasons...just use the comics for reference, develop interesting characters and for fuck's sake get the writers to write...Killing characters for no reason is not the way....that's just my two cents from a comic reader and show lover.

I hope they take yours..or someone’s advice!...in the beginning I was hypnotized!,mesmerized!...now I’m bewildered by 2:35 minute face shots and repetitive (remember-when’s) I’m afraid they went from trying to put out the best possible product to playing “how long can we string these dip-shits along for the money” all I have gotten from this season was a slap in the face. The most painful since season 4?...I think. But even the one I’m trying to remember had plenty of substance and payment for time and attention.

I will continue to follow this channel, but I am quitting the show once Carl dies. After Glenn, my only motivation to continue watching was the Grimes Family 2.0 unit. Without an integral member of this unit who was not supposed to die, I am out. For the record, everyone is free to be the type of fan you want to be. If you are asking was that the real reason Carl was fired, then, yes, if his father is telling the truth. The kid was promised to stay for another three years. Then he bought a house near the set and decided to postpone college for the filming. Then his parents asked the renewed contract to be more expensive as the current one was about to expire and he was fired during the s8 e6 rehearsal two weeks before his 18th birthday out of the blue.
If you are asking if that is what everyone did when Chandler was fired, then, that is my guess. the show is dead either way. they never cared about the quality, they always fired people before characters develop to prevent them from becoming eligible for a raise. :( too bad, that is the best zombie story ever. I wish I could have seen what it would be like if they didn't only do it for the money. It would have earned them more money if they decided to invest properly. but amc and gimple got the funds to themselves. i give gimple up to a year. he will pay for this. he has been sabotaging the show on purpose ever since he became the main guy. he should have invested in it, but he chose to pursue the momentary gain instead. it is only about profit for him. killing characters for shock value and to hire cheaper actors is what he did, dragging the story through bottle episodes in order to minimize the scene frequency for actors just so he can extend the viewing time (more episodes=more money for him) and make their screen time pay lower. That is what he did, a pathetic little man.

I dont know how Rick would allow Negan to live with Carl dying. I know Ricks statement about mercy, but Carl was Ricks reason for everything. Rick does tend to respect a dead persons wishes. I think a huge problem with TWD lately is that they don't give fans a payoff for villains. Villains suffer no real consequences. On GOT, Joffrey died. The Freys died. Ramsay Bolton died. Theon Greyjoy was endlessly tortured and lost his cock. Cersei will die. TWD is seemingly attempting to integrate Negan, Jadis, and others w/the mainstream characters in this kumbaya existence and have their actions go unpunished. I don't understand it. This was such a bad move. Carl Grimes was the one character who wasn’t supposed to die and saying things like it WAS supposed to happen for Rick’s comic book arc to make sense is complete bull. The show and the comic book weren’t the same thing from the beginning and suddenly when Glenn died they decided to be faithful to the comics and now they go back to doing whatever the hell they want? A bunch of hypocrites... They’re basically confirming they could’ve changed Glenn’s death with this stupid move. After Glenn died, Carl was the main reason I kept watching because he was one of my favorite characters. I am also one of those Grimes family 2.0 supporters and that precisely was the reason I ended up enjoying the show for some time until it all went downhill. As my sister Davie has previously stated in the comment section, there are also many people who are fans of the characters instead of the show itself. I think the scene with Negan with the three tied up walkers is from the comics when Negan is addressing the saviors, telling them to gunk up their weapons with the walkers.
The three walkers tied to the fence in front of negan looks like the scene from the books when they cover their weapons in walker guts.
I thought the most dramatic moment was when carl told negan to kill him. That shocked negan and wiped the smile off his face.
Gimple needs to find other plot climax points or enhancements than killing off characters. It is called character and plot development. I don’t know if I can hang with this show much longer under these circumstances. The show is becoming repetitive and with the Wisperer war on the horizon, based on the story so far, I don’t see Scott Gimple providing high quality stories in the future. 😔😔😔

Losing Carl is horrible. He's like everyone's son. We all watched him grow up, experienced his grief over his mom, we sat on the edge of our seats after he got shot in the stomach, then losing his eye. His death makes no sense at ALL. My mother died before my dad, and when he passed away it was harder to deal with because all those feelings from my mothers' death came rushing back.
It was like losing her all over again. I think Carls passing is kind of pulling memories of Glenn and Abe back up in peoples minds like it did when my father passed.

Carl is a ghost in the Episode 1 it does make sense that he's going to notice how only Rick notices him he's seeing him like he did Lori simple.
Which major Savior character (the female with the neck tattoo who asked Eugene in Ep. 6 or 7 how much time he thought they had before the walkers surrounding the Sanctuary would find their way in) was it that Dwight killed during the ambush he drove them into when they went in pursuit of Alexandrians who fled the Safe Zone during Negan's assault on it?
The real reason Gimple killed Carl off was because like Enid said,"I'm better than him,"so she will take his place.
My prediction is that in the season finale Rick will have Negan at the point of death and he'll be about to kill him but then it will cut to Rick's red eyes and he'll say "My Mercy will prevail over my wrath" which will show that the red eye Rick scene in the season premiere was a scene from the season finale and then he will save Negan's life and put him in Morgan's cell that he built
I'm calling it, they are going to use the conversation between Negan and Carl a way to guilt trip Negan. Rick may blame Negan for the death of Carl in the finale, to lower his guard.

Carl will be what brings peace. Negan's face when Carl was talking about the kids was the first time Negan looked concerned and "human". He always liked Carl & when Carl dies Negan will be as heartbroken as Rick. I think that's what will bring everyone together, eventually.

rick was the test subject for the antidote.that is why he never died after all the power was out.i am sure he was being fed through the i.v.the military was killing everyone there.a soldier entered ricks room & ignored him.probably because he knew rick was the cure test subject.carl gets shot & rick gives blood to carl.carl goes into a seizure from the blood mix reaction.then he stops seizuring & wakes up fine in a few days.
I think major shit is being overlooked and plans are much more elaborate than what's going on in the show.

I hate the fact that Carl has to die too, but for those people saying that there is no Rick without Carl just a reminder in that episode when Rick and Michonne were alone looking for guns, (the one where the roof top they were standing on caved in.....Rick tried to kill a deer.....they found some guns) I remember Rick saying to Michonne that if he loses any other imporatant persons in his life for example, Carl, Michonne he would find a way to be ok with it and live on. He also suggested to Michonne that she adopts the same mentality. At the time I understood that at some point in this episode either Carl or Michonne would die. I wished that I was wrong though.
Reasons Negan will most likely die.
*Killing Abraham and Glenn
not only did he kill Glenn like originally intended, but he also killed Abraham a big asset to the group, two head bashings is almost unforgivable, if its forgivable at all.
* Tried to make Rick Cut off Carl's arm.
This broke Rick, and though Negan had already bashed in two great characters heads, Negan still felt the need to torture Rick further by making him hurt his own son.
* Burning beds, taking guns
He took the Alexandrian's beds when they weren't even needed, and burned them in the woods just to make the Alexandrian's suffer. Not only that, but in the comics he let them keep most of their essentials of survival, unlike the T.V. show where he is just a complete asshole.
*Killing Spencer
Even though it felt like a redeeming quality in the comics, in the show it felt more like he wanted to do it to fill his psychotic needs.
*Sasha's death (Not his fault, but he will be blamed for it)
Sasha, the sniper of the group dying was Negan's responsibility, whether it was his fault or not.
*He was willing to kill Carl
Last season he was actually willing to kill Carl and might have actually done it, if not for Shiva.
Plenty more reasons why he is more likely to die in the show.
It could be Gabriel grave, it makes no sense that they kill off Carl because it’s a huge chunk of the story that they’ll be throwing away!
I really don't think that they`re going to kill Negan. I just think that with Carls death Rick is going to need someone else that can be a voice and help him lead and that might have to be with Negan.

TWD staff has said for along time no character is safe and not everything will be as the comics. Nobody should be too surprised. I understand the emotional response to Carl's death however, it is good that they deviate from the comics at times. Parts of Carl's comic storyline can be modified to suit another character or characters.

Killing off Carl destroys so many theories of how the show is being told. I know a big theory was that the whole show was Carl (as well as others) sharing stories after the whole apocalypse is done. What do y'all think?
I have been following the show since Season 6 and it’s sad to see so much potential be crushed. I will be converting to following the comics in case the show falls apart.
I think the future with old man Rick is obviously fake now because of sweet baby Carl😭 but the scene with Rick crying and saying “Let my mercy prevail over my rath” is after Carl has died and that’s Rick trying to honour his son, so I think the 8B might open with that scene and then we’ll go back to before Carl has died.

All that savior stuff in the previews is just them showing you what happened and how they escaped and attacked hilltop, alexandria, etc.
I don't read the comics but I have heard something about Michoone leaving on a boat...what if Morgan is the one to leave after Rick fails to kill Negan..also I think they killed Carl off to give Rick a reason not to kill Negan
The way the posts from Chandlers dad act..hmmmm I seriously think Gimple was planning on Carl still being in the show when they did that flash forward....then something changed or made Gimple mad and he fired Chandler.
I hope Rick puts his sheriff hat back on in season 8b, but honestly it probably doesn't suit him anymore
