    • @shutupshelley1793
      @shutupshelley1793 4 месяца назад +9

      I disagree. To me, her mix of traditional and modern is absolutely not seamless and, in fact, isn't at all complimentary to the home's origin. If I were ever to buy that house from her after her renovation, the first thing I would do would be to replace all those awful, modern light fixtures that seem to be flipping off the stately integrity of that marvelous old home. They're so laughably wrong for this home and stick out so like a sore thumb that they distract from the original interior architecture instead of sticking to their purpose of sophisticated illumination of it. Next I would dim down that aggressively yellow paint color in the entryway and then I would merrily tear down that comically horrible wallpaper in the kitchen. (There are absolutely COUNTLESS* wallpaper designs out there... and she chose *THAT*?? 🙄 Wow.) And while I love the dining table, the chairs...oy! The chairs... again distracting from the rest of the room and simply not auspicious in any sense. Naturally, that's just my opinion, of course, although I'll note I'm well-schooled in art and design, not that that will matter to anyone, but maybe it should.😉 Obviously, we all have our different preferences and sense of what looks good, I'm just a true believer in celebrating and respecting the history and architecture of an older home by reflecting that more than less in its interior design. The End 🤗

    Fun little piece of minutiae: when Betsy was talking about how hard it was to deal with the tin ceiling panels in the kitchen, she didn’t mention that Wheeling, W.V. was actually home to the largest manufacturer of tin ceiling panels in the US in the late 1800s, roundabout when the building boom of this kind of home was getting underway. So there’s a really good chance that the original installer would have been able to go get the panels at the local distributor hot off the press right there in their hometown.

    It is always interesting to see a house being renovated. I love the wallpaper in the kitchen.

    The only thing I'm concerned about is her using wallpaper as a backsplash in the kitchen behind the stove. She reckons the exhaust fan will ensure it's kept clean but I can see it getting absolutely covered in splashes from sauce etc. The tiles in my kitchen are always dirty. She could even put some plexiglass up to protect the paper.

      Plus the fact that the wallpaper is hideous in this kitchen!

    This is so amazing! Your video two years ago inspired me to get my own old house! It's so surreal that when I watched it then, it was from a tiny city apartment I was renting, and today I'm watching this video from a beautiful old craftsman style home that I own. Betsy really swayed me on the charms of older homes 😍

Thank younfor the feedback and I believe you should go back again in a year when she is planning to finish it. I m so glad to see people going back to their roots and preserving those houses. In my country they majority just demolish them. Thank u and please make more. This is what suits you the most. I missed those traveling vlogs.

    She has good taste it's refreshing to see a house where they haven't painted half the rooms grey. When you've got a big hall and stairway you CAN paint things bright yellow and it doesn't look like its taking over. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the modern style light fixtures but I know the OG type might make things a bit dark for filming and show-housing so that's maybe a practical limitation.

    Props to all who've restored this home and respected it's history. Many here in CA have purchased California craftsman homes (my favorite) and simply gutted them on the inside without trying to keep much of the history in the restoration.
    Now I've even been thinking of moving to Wheeling.
