It could have 2 side plasma gunners. It would be extremely dangerous but it hover pretty high which makes landing shots easy. Light energy shields like the banshees had in halo5 with a poor recharge Definitely need a APC type vehicle that can tank explosives to play a good support role with a 40mm grenade auto launcher for the pilots weapon, there could be another variant built for vehicle combat with a light cannon that got major kinetic damage like the skewer has. Something that could actually go toe-to-toe with a scorpion/wraith.
@@goatman9499 Since elites were forgotten as cool playable characters the covennant new vehicles and weapons had been stopped appearing, since halo reach i don't remember a new covennant vehicle being added and i honestly was a big fan of the elite and covennant stuff, they were epic.
Halo Wars had some amazing looking vehicles, they deserved a proper rendition from day one, though I get that it'd have completely wrecked the vehicle meta 😂
@@blackmesacake5361 if I'm to take a guess, the chief reason is the time and effort needed to model, texture, script/develop, test, and especially balance the vehicle (health, power, speed, maneuverability, physics) with respect to the others. Compared to the variety of weapons, vehicles are a light mix and generally not mandatory for gameplay.
@@blackmesacake5361 if you look Into the history of halo wars you will see that bungi basically despised the studio who worked on halo wars. They wanted to get more insight and help and stay lore friendly, but due to some stuff behind the scenes, bungie acted like they wanted the game to fail. That is why the game in the overall story is not Canon, as far as I know. And infinite, 4 and 5 is developed by 343, another studio, that also do their own thing. So yeha, that is basically it why wars vehicles won't probably come to any other game.

5:17 Retriever Sentinel, can be really nasty if you aren't prepared to take it on in Halo Wars, not so bad with a moderate force. Pretty sure it is just a scenery thing in this, though it would be cool to actually get to fight it.
@@Leftysrev3nge A LOT of work, the modder would have to work in some form of AI like what the campaign enemies have, they would have to add in attack animations, likely derived from the Retriever's combat animations in the Halo Wars series, and they would have to give it a hit box and make it destructible so that it isn't invincible.
@@Alex20114 Given that there is a non-invincible version, it wouldn't be too hard in that department. Remember you can call upon one if you play as Anders and unlock that Leader Power. Hers isn't indestructible.
Its really cool to think we all wanted this kind of stuff back in the day and now its here. Its the same feeling as flood fight being introduced. I remember wishing they would make a flood firefight! Very awesome.
It would be interesting, but technically difficult to do, is a hybrid multiplayer between a mainline Halo game and Halo Wars. You'll have Commanders playing from Halo Wars building bases, purchasing vehicles, activating special powers, and giving out general orders to the FPS players on the ground playing in mainline Halo. There would be NPC ground units, but all the hero units are real players.
Sounds amazing conceptually. Kinda sounds like Battlefront II (EA) Galactic Assault but extremely large and with some players creating bases RTS style.

I'm still so pissed EA cancled a planned c&c fps that took place during tiberium wars after C&C 3 was such a massive hit. I remember it being a cover story for gameinformer like 10 years ago. I was so hyped for it, it looked amazing. Instead they gave us C&C 4 that was basically a moba and pretty much killed the entire franchise.
There should be a different version of this where there’s four teams like the banished would be red team, the UNSC would be Green Team, The Covenant would still be Blue team, and we could play as the flood on yellow team. Hell, maybe the rebels could be on brown team and the forerunners in yet another team.
Like two to six "commanders" take charge of the bases and direct NPCs, and "Hero" units like Jerome and Cutter, ETC. are the other players just doing whatever?

Would love to see that stuff and more lore friendly stuff incorporated into the mod. The Sparrowhawk also has a built in Spartan Laser too. And uses Guass cannons instead of machine guns

seeing you fly the Hawk in that camera view with those weapons suddenly made me realize where 343 got the Wasp design I honestly like the Hawk a bit more. It resembles the Falcon just enough that it feels like a Halo ship and not some random cool scifi ship like the wasp

There is a game like that but on a smaller scale. I'll post an update when I get back to my PC and check my steam for its name. Edit: the game is called Natural selection 2 and is a sweaty and smaller scale of this idea but it's exactly what you described.
This would be good forge update to have for MCC aswell. Just imagine the custom games being 10x better with this and paying respect to the halo war series. Could be a good seasonal event to celebrate halo war birthday which I would call this season update: Harvest. -New maps -New armor -New items, vehicles, weapons. -New game-Mode. Makes MCC greater than it is now.
when I first heard of halo wars all my brother told me was "its halo but you control the marines" and I always thought it would be like halo 3 but you can move units around or something it would be amazing if the mod allows something like that eventually
for the locusts I always thought it would be funny if a plasma pistol shot would disable whatever leg you hit so its starts limping and making a mechanical whimpering noise, so much potential for these to be officially in the FPS games too, if only infinite could have used them.
The texture and model of these asset up close is is a little a little low res but current standard, but it still surprisingly match the level of fidelity of Halo 3.

@@nexalcorp2323 it ain't an opinion that infinite is bad, the campaign was boring, the open world brought nothing of real value but took away alot of fun things about Halo's gameplay like Vechile Battles for one. The story was cut and paste at best, always promising cool stuff in the future but never delivering here and now. Like why are we fighting an appetizer of Atriox and not Atriox himself? And stop saying "Six Months ago." Every two seconds of character dialog. Each fight in the campaign is just a slight modification of the previous battle you were just in: eight grunts, four jackals, three brutes and a sniper. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Never do we get truly unique battle layouts like in previous halo campaigns. I could go on and on honestly but it's not really worth it as the game has zero creative inspiration to offer. Oh and don't get me started on the MP.
It would definitely be interesting to see proper AI for these vehicles, but this mod looks recent and AI would probably be very hard to make. Though I can imagine the AI would default to ramming while shooting in a modded vehicle.
It never ceases to amaze me how much fellow halo fans understand the direction in expansion we would all like to see of the halo franchise, and 343 is just completely clueless focusing on all the wrong things. What I've always wanted to see was halo wars sized battles brought to the fps mainline halo games that you could fight in on the front lines. With bigger more powerful hardware I wanted to actually take place in those amazing battles we only ever see in cutscenes. Unfortunately its almost as if they went in the opposite direction and made the battles in halo 4, 5, and infinite even smaller than what we got to play in reach, 1, 2, and 3. Hardly fighting alongside any fellow marines/vehicles and taking on the same small waves of covenant, and unfun robot forunners we've had forever.
Imagine a hybrid Halo game mode. One player is randomly selected to be the General of their team. From this player's perspective, it's like Halo Wars. They overlook the battlefield from an above view and manage the deployment of troops and vehicles. All the marines are NPCs and where they go is determined by the General. The Spartans are real players though. Their perspective is more like traditional Halo where they're on the ground and can go wherever they want. The General obviously has no control over the Spartans, but can redirect troops and supply drops to aid them. You know how in Halo Infinite when a Pelican occasionally comes in to drop off a vehicle? This time that would be determined by the General player, only they get to decide when, where, and what vehicle it is.
Look at the hud of the banished ghost when it's durabilioty is less than 75%, theres an easter egg there. The grunt suit as has an easter egg with the eys after it's destoryed.
The closest to a more "controlable" halo wars is halo spartan strike and spartan assault Would love to play as an odst in that game, wish there was a mod for it
Halo 5 can kinda be like FPS Halo wars. Command your teammates to control vehicles and then you can make them attack a certain enemy or move to a certain location. (This is campaign only of course, but warzone firefight kinda gave me a halo wars feeling)
Ya I always got mad we couldn’t use these cool vehicles that supposedly according to lore have but not see in the main game because it doesn’t show how the UNSC were a force to be reckoned with and the Covenant

You should see if you can find the original Halo Wars demo they showcased, the actual game turned out so differently

I expected vehicles to be essentially reskinned by this mod but WOW! The animations, sounds and visual effects are almost on par with official assets.
I loved doing the sounds for these.

Hardly fighting alongside any fellow marines/vehicles and taking on the same small waves of covenant, and unfun robot forunners we've had forever.
This is one of those things that I'd love to see 343 put into halo 3 or halo reach forge
Imagine a hybrid Halo game mode. One player is randomly selected to be the General of their team. From this player's perspective, it's like Halo Wars. They overlook the battlefield from an above view and manage the deployment of troops and vehicles. All the marines are NPCs and where they go is determined by the General. The Spartans are real players though. Their perspective is more like traditional Halo where they're on the ground and can go wherever they want. The General obviously has no control over the Spartans, but can redirect troops and supply drops to aid them. You know how in Halo Infinite when a Pelican occasionally comes in to drop off a vehicle? This time that would be determined by the General player, only they get to decide when, where, and what vehicle it is.

Look at the hud of the banished ghost when it's durabilioty is less than 75%, theres an easter egg there. The grunt suit as has an easter egg with the eys after it's destoryed.

The closest to a more "controlable" halo wars is halo spartan strike and spartan assault

Halo 5 can kinda be like FPS Halo wars. Command your teammates to control vehicles and then you can make them attack a certain enemy or move to a certain location. (This is campaign only of course, but warzone firefight kinda gave me a halo wars feeling)

Ya I always got mad we couldn’t use these cool vehicles that supposedly according to lore have but not see in the main game because it doesn’t show how the UNSC were a force to be reckoned with and the Covenant
