    Indoor venues really make more justice to how fast these guys are, it's insane, looks inhuman.

      Sighs that’s not how it works, they started at the 400m mark not the 200 meter mark. 2:12 look at the starting lines that’s further back behind them. That’s the 200m mark. So by starting at 400 mark, their times are going to seem faster in the first 200

    If he'd gone out in 21.2 I'd say he runs a 44.9. No one was going to challenge him at the break, I don't know why he basically ran an all out 200m with 200m left to go in the race.

    for the record, michael norman and kerron clement went 21.33 and 21.08 for their first 200m splits. both ran 44.5X so both ran a 23.2-23.5s 2nd 200m. Warholm's 2nd 200m was more than a second slower than those (24.5s) . he nearly got beaten. Personally I feel that he is a long way off in his form and would expect him to be near WR pace if on song.

    Definitely went out too fast. You want to be ahead at the converge, but being on the outer lane, you can't see where your rivals are, so you want to go a little bit faster just in case.

    • @ufonious747
      @ufonious747 Год назад +2

      No he didn't lol You must not be familiar with him or his running style. He PICKS and prefers lane 8 or 7. He's a 400m Hurdler who is looking to break his world record again. This is just training for the world championships. He wants to get out as fast as he can and sustain it until his body gets back use to running at full speed for 45 second WHILE jumping hurdles. Pacing yourself in an open 400m literally won't help you with your goal. That's not how he training during his record breaking season and it's not how he's going to train now.

    • @existentialerasure
      @existentialerasure Год назад

      Outdoors, he hits the 200 in about the same time over hurdles. Warholm always goes full speed. That's how he destroys those who pace their race. R Benjamin would "float" 200-300 to gather for a kick the last 100. Warholm would break contact as he was still going full speed. You are new to t&f, but you have to start somewhere.

    • @markcynic808
      @markcynic808 Год назад

      Doesn't apply for indoor 400m races where running a slow first lap means having to run wide on the straights, let alone the bends, to overtake those athletes ahead. In racing, winning is all that matters.

    • @markchandler7089
      @markchandler7089 Год назад

      Yes, in championships, winning is the obvious goal and tactics make a difference. Here he faded badly, but won. Indoor records, fast times, and personal bests are different goals and cannot be acheived in lactate restraintsbiver the last 50 meters.
