I have a story that probably nobody cares about ( it's about this song) In year four, my amazing teacher-whose name I shall not include- complimented me on my singing in the choir, she said I should sing this for my class. Of course I did. She gave me the warmest smile a eight year old could ever want. Anytime I hear this song I think of her and the amazing things she did for me and my classmates Thank you,
This was the version I learned at Sunday School in Cardiff as a child, it's only in recent years that it seems to have really caught the public's imagination. The quality of the singing is fantastic for a junior choir. Thanks for taking the time to put it up.
I remember singing this version of 'While Shepherds Watched their Flocks By Night' at primary school in Lancashire in about 1976. Have heard it only rarely since so a real treat!
I bought this record many moons ago. This song has always been my favourite. As I no longer have a record player, I didn't think I would get to hear it again. Thank you so much for uploading it. An amazing arrangement.
I, too, had this on a long-since-lost vinyl LP, over 30 years ago. I never thought I'd find it again, but found the CD in a charity shop in Beverley this summer, and just HOPED it would have the same version of Sweet Chiming Christmas Bells. And it did! Such an infectiously catchy tune.

every Christmas eve i trawl the village of ackworth playing carols on my Eb Tenor horn, at our church we had a family at the time I sort of knew em, but now we are good friends, anyway was outside their house unbeknown to me, my background was a junior sally army band, this particular Christmas eve a familiar figure popped her head out of the house, the mother who I knew quite well of the said family. She said " I bet you can't play sweet chiming Christmas bells" and of course cocky me replies, I bet I can, so I played it, she bursts into tears,I am now feeling dead guilty because I didn't know what I'd done. Lady in question had lost her hubby, not sure to this day how he passed away, but this was their favourite, and now no matter what the weather outside in twinkling star and streetlight on Christmas eve I play this religously, if you live in Ackworth and read this listen out for me and my daughter we may be in a street near you
