I’ve loved watching your van slowly become more homey as you figured out what you needed and what works for you. Cool to see how inexpensive it was all for
I watch a lot of vanners, heading that way myself, but, you are the first person I look forward to checking in on! Your real, honest and could give a sht what others think because you are secure in who you are! That's half the battle! That in itself is freedom!I love your realistic approach to your van build! We don't need a preconceived way to do anything we think we can do because if we think it we can do it! Van onnnn!
Hello Chrome and Disco. I can't believe it only cost $2700, you have without a doubt the most beauriful, functional van on youtube. I know I've seen over a hundred van builds.
Chrome, I am so happy for you! Total freedom has got to be the best! I know when I quit trucking, and retired after 38 years, I felt a million pounds of stress lifted off of my shoulders. THAT was my freedom! As you know I am about to embark on full time RV living myself, and, can hardly wait until it's a reality! Carry on, Brother, and, enjoy life to the fullest because we only have one chance in this life! Travel safe, Chrome! Be happy, keep loving God, and, Adios! I just liked the fact that you’re straight up. I think I told you but I’ve done about 35 trips in the last year. And I’m getting actually ready to leave this evening for about four days. Up in to the mountains of West Virginia Pennsylvania. I have a little log cabin that I keep. I have things that I still have to take care of around here for about another year. And then me and little lady are heading west. But I definitely will come through BC for sure before I head that way. Looks beautiful there. Anyway be cool party on. Treat everyone excellent and spread the love. Your smile is you’re umbrella. Peace out ✌️ and your van is awesome.
I said a long time ago, and it never got acknowledged, that Chrome's video and editing skills are 2nd to none. I noticed this past week that other van channels are trying to keep up in copy cat style. Lay out all the camera crap on the bed you want, Chrome rules.
If you are thinking about solar here is my van's system: 100 watt panel $140 20 amp charge controller $30 1000 watt pure sine inverter $120 105 amp hour battery $150 Cables fuses wires etc $30 ish 2 hrs of sun brings battery to 100% fast. I can help you set it up but am not around vancouver much.
Great video Chrome. I was just thinking about you talking about power recently. I think that last year Canadian Tire had a sale on lithium batteries (like car batteries) and they were a couple of hundred dollars (great price for lithium). The sale was around the end of August, maybe beginning of Sept. I would much rather have lithium and I might pick one up this year if they have that same sale. Just wanted to let you know to watch for that. Hugs to you and Disco!
Super pretty!! I agree one does not need construction knowledge if you just watch other RUclips video's to see how it is done, and a friend that will do the cuts for the walls for you. She is a beauty now, and done super duper cheap! I love your decor of the flowers and plant. So all in all a teenager could even do this if they have it done your way with some help of a friend to cut. Simple and easy and one step at a time, little by little the end of a van build gets done.
Thanks so much for the breakdown! I'm looking to build my own van and "check out" of the rental game for awhile....at least until I get debt and bills paid off. I'm house sitting and couch surfing for now, and looking to get my own sweet home on wheels. This was really helpful....thanks for the tour!
Ty for this van cost update. I will have to investigate prices here in South Africa, as Canadian and US dollar amounts don’t mean much to me...hugs to u both
What is going on with You Tube? When I clicked on the video to watch the sub button was red like I had not subbed when I know I had. Anyway subbed and clicked the bell and watched the video. Scrolled down to read some comments sub button red again. Wth? Subbed and clicked the bell AGAIN. They CANNOT stop me from watching you and Disco!!!!!
What do you think about the Buddy Heater? Is your heater better? Okay, I am coming to Canada and get your help in building....LOL don't freak out, I would not do that to you. I love the cabinets and would like to do the same whenever I get my van, sometime in the future. Your build looks so neat. So far I like your build the best, because it is simple, clean and easy to access what you need, especially the little cabinet between the seats. I don't think I could do without some kind of air flow at night. I tend to get hot very easy. Love my cool nights for sleeping and cool days to enjoy. I may have to do like some of the nomads and just travel with the climate. Also, you still live in or near a city where you can shower and take care of all the personal things. Thanks for sharing, love your videos as always and of course Disco, Chrome is growing on me as well. You are full of some good information. Dude you got it going for you, stay safe and I am still smiling, always do, when I get to watch your videos. Okay enough of that, hope all is well and I am out.
Really enjoyed your video. We are momentarily inside & been living in minivans forever... But johns guitars & amp are crowing us out. Really remember having a ford van & building it out & the space was too cool. I love you refer to the van as "your home" that really helps people psychologically 😊💜
Thanks for the cool video.. 👍 The van sure is looking great, I remember when you started out.. You guys come a good ways with the build and it's really coming along well , so keep up the good work and keep the videos rolling with all your great info and beautiful scenery... Lov the B-Roll shots and the great music you play,so thanks again for being you chrome 👍 enjoy your day and God bless you guys ✌️😎 sup Disco!! Weirdos Unite!!
Morning dahling!!!😜 soooooooo....... What's new? Whatcha been doin? Hope you're enjoying the weather!!!! Its frickin HOT here in Seattle! !!! Stay cool 😉 my friend!!!! Great to see your face!!!!
Thanks so much for all your content. I have been watching van life for years and wanting to try it you give me confidence that I can do it. I just bought a van last month and I am about to getting it order. I am going to keep it simple and build my way up.
Some carpet and thick padding would work well for me as well as art on the walls over the vinyl and taller storage elements. I would also position a smaller bed facing the other direction so there is room to move about the van and for more storage. Very nice ideas and template to be inspired by, though.
KIS, keep it simple. Awesome approach to the start of van life. Getting mine started tomorrow, woohoo! Loved the video man, couldn't of said it better, peace!
I really like your channel! I use to drive around in a 1998 Ford conversion van for work until it broke down last month. I had to junk it and am now researching what kind of van I'd like to get so I can go on another cross country trip. Thank you for providing great content to keep my spirits high while I'm stuck without a van.
Hey I know you most likely don't mind but if you ever want to cover the top insulation a easy way would just putting some white or what ever color fabric on it. Also love the vids man keep it up.
Good video Chrome. Only thing I would do differently is the insulation. Very important here where the average winter temp is -10C. If you watch Eamon and Becs channel his father did a van conversion and got a company in Toronto to spray foam it for $600.
yep to live in van is cheap ! I have started few weeks ago ,maybe 2 1/2 months juste with a bed and a small cabinet made in a pallet, 1 or 2 suitcase or bag that all ,for 1 month now I got a puppy Rottweiler also I removed the passager seat to put a cage .Rock is his name get more space that me . and lets go fun even for me is not so fun
I've been watching all your videos, to get caught up! LOVE your attitude! K.I.S.S.! I've been watching so many channels on the van life (my dream) and periodically looking around for a van. I'm thinking I need this or that before I can start... oh hell no... going out again tomorrow to look at vans. I'd love to get an old bread truck or something, but I'm a bit nervous with driving around in it and I don't feel it's as stealth as I would like... if I find a good price in a high top, great. If not, not a big deal, I'm only 4'11", so I won't have any issues! LOL I just retired from the workforce (YAY ME!!! I paid my dues!). I start getting my Social Security in October and I already get my military pension (retired US Navy). My goal is to start about March / April (time to pay off my credit card, my only debt other than household utilities requird by law to live in a house) and I have a military reunion I have to head to in October. I have lots of STUFF to get rid of. What my kids don't want, I'll sell or give to Good Will (or trash, depends on the item). I'll have to get my passport in order, as I would LOVE to travel to Canada and drive up to Alaska as well!! I will buy some internet service for on the road, as my idea is to be a TRAVELING GENEALOGIST! That's my passion! Helping others find what they need for their research! I'm so excited to get started! Thank you! You have really put my mind at ease on just getting out there and going! Blessings to you and give that sweet pup of yours (DISCO) a big hug from me!
But what about solar! You are not a real fan dweller/can’t survive without solar. You *need* it. J/k. I love that you still have to explain what you *don’t need. I can’t say how much I appreciate your simple realistic approach to getting out there.
The only thing you need to do is drill holes in your plywood under your matteras to allow ventilation. There is a product you can get from a marine store that you lay under your matteras to help with ventilating the matteras.
Life is an experimentation! Spend 500-spend 2000-spend 10,000-whatever. What is the price of freedom? Its up 2 u-just b happy ppl! Live life!! Always Rockn my day-Chrome&Disco!!!
Simplicity to the Max - very impressive. I especially like the drawer units with the slits, may I ask where you found those? Thanks, man, enjoy your channel
Hi! Im starting my van build! Bought it and the TRANS went out.... Oh well! Got to fix it. I have a question. What are the dimensions of the cabs in your van?

Can't beat his positive energy. And he's a Canuck !!! A miracle.
I’ve loved watching your van slowly become more homey as you figured out what you needed and what works for you.
Cool to see how inexpensive it was all for
I love the way you built the van. Pay-as-you-go.
Chrome - your van looks awesome! I'm trying to convince hubby that we need that wood paneling on one of the walls in our front room. LOL
Someone is starting to like the country living more than city living... Lol enjoy your weekend coming up

Your build is the best. Practical, sturdy, and attractive in a masculine yet neutral way that is very appealing. 👍
Love the way this van is set-up
I just liked the fact that you’re straight up. I think I told you but I’ve done about 35 trips in the last year. And I’m getting actually ready to leave this evening for about four days. Peace out ✌️ and your van is awesome.
Fantastic! I've watched from the beginning, the van is rad and Chrome has evolved to a much calmer and wiser guy! Disco-----Priceless! Love you guys!
I said a long time ago, and it never got acknowledged, that Chrome's video and editing skills are 2nd to none. I noticed this past week that other van channels are trying to keep up in copy cat style. Lay out all the camera crap on the bed you want, Chrome rules.
cesalt He proves it’s about talent and skill, NOT about what gadgets you use! 🐶❤️
Good tour & breakdown. 😁 Love the build-as-you-go practicality. Rock on 😎🐶🚐
If you are thinking about solar here is my van's system:
100 watt panel $140
20 amp charge controller $30
1000 watt pure sine inverter $120
105 amp hour battery $150
Cables fuses wires etc $30 ish
2 hrs of sun brings battery to 100% fast. I can help you set it up but am not around vancouver much.
Keep the creative juices flowing, let it be a work in progress. You never know where or when life will take you
Some days u sound just like everybodies very excited little brother and his dog!! Your buildout is fabulous ! I love it!
I took your floor plans, it turned out awesome, the bed build perfect. Thank you !!!

I waited the entire video to see how much the string of flowers cost, and not a mention. lol
Nice rundown. Puts it into perspective.
🤣 I believe they were from a dollar store.
Just a great build for not a huge amount of money.... Love this.... I'm going to binge watch next weekend,
Thanks so much for the breakdown! I'm looking to build my own van and "check out" of the rental game for awhile....at least until I get debt and bills paid off. pacfolly No carpet! Gross!
Thanks. You gave me a great estimate of a build for a van. I'm excited that it is so easy to make it beautiful. 💕
I think I'm going to go second hand cabinets from "Habitat Resale" type store
Whoopi Ding? LOL I like that. :)
Cool breakdown, that might have been a $1000 here, lol. Just kidding. Diggin that you're finding nature! Happy travels bro
KIS, keep it simple. Awesome approach to the start of van life. Getting mine started tomorrow, woohoo! Loved the video man, couldn't of said it better, peace!

FUCK YEAH CHROM!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT'S UP!!!!!
My dad is a contractor so he’s gonna be converting my whole entire van for me 😍
For real!
All I saw was Disco saying "Where is mah frend Ball?" And from top of the rock: "I'll find you old frend Ball, or you can find me too?".
BEEN WATCHING SINCE THE 1ST NIGHT IN YOUR VAN AND THRANSFORMATION SINCE THEN FUCKEN COOL MAN. STAY WEIRD BIG HOMIE.
Simplicity to the Max - very impressive. I especially like the drawer units with the slits, may I ask where you found those? Thanks, man, enjoy your channel

At 56 seconds in Disco shows up to remind Chrome there’s no I in team.
🇨🇦 VIKING VAN MAN ! Hell Yha !!!
Sport Mobile! check them out. They have some very innovative van builds that could give you some good ideas.
Can I ask where you bought you cabinets please. Definitely a cost and time effective route!!
Love the cabinets - where did you get them???
Wow that's cheap,good job.
How much weight was added...
yea...the first to see!
rut row...lol.
So much for that free healthcare!!
Hey Chrome wouldn't it be beneficial to take a road trip to the states and buy some big tickets items. Travel and buy. Maxxair fan maybe tires ect.
Tim Stretton Maybe study a little on how the exchange rate works, Tim.
27 hundred dollars just throws me. Good job you said 2G. So that's 2 thousand 7 hundred dollars to me. 😂
Chrome where did you buy the cabinets from IKEA?
Hi! Im starting my van build! Bought it and the TRANS went out.... Oh well! Got to fix it. I have a question. What are the dimensions of the cabs in your van?
Who does your stickers? I want to get a custom decal made for my TT.
I LIKE THAT necklace , where can i get one
I was thinking it would be a good idea to have a house notebook. in it list the items purchased, receipts, maintenance, budget.
kindav like a ships captains log.
Scan App and sort into a van file.
Chrome bro.what about the AC to Disco....✌from miami.
How do you keep the cabinets from sliding around in the van?
Chrome Im not sure if u said it before n I just ah didnt hear it but how big is the ned? I mean what size is it? Full or Queen? Or whatever? I think u had said it was a foam mattress but I wasn't sure and I wasn't sure if you said u bought it off Amazon or at a local store or whatever? Much 💘 & give Disco a 💋for us. Lol
VANCITY VANLIFE thank u and i did see that but when u buy sheets is that a full size? Just asking. Thanks
How did you mount the dressers?
Dude, can someone buy you a Max Air Fan in USA and ship it to you? I liked watch watching the evolution of Chrome!!!!!
VANCITY VANLIFE: So I would have to pay duty on anything shipped to you? Weird!! Trying to think of a work around.
The base model fantastic fan (no remote, rain sensor) is like 250 here while less than 100 in the states! Friggin Canada! Though I bought my new fan for 108 free ship online. Maxx air are better but more expensive and way taller,
Steven Jeffrey : I would rather quality first. Make a little fund for fan.
need a battery first!
his fundies....... I love it ...weirdo for sure
Thankyou, I shall go hunting.
