Bun is the master of conservation of energy. Everything happens below the elbows leaving his torso relaxed. The fact that he could dangle a cigarette while playing at such a heightened skill level is evidence of this. He’s my ergonomic hero!

Once he was removed from Cheap Trick, they lost their sound. He had such an unusual cadence and style of playing that really made their sound. I believe Rick's son, or one of their sons, took over. He was a good drummer, but he wasn't Bun.

I was reading an article many years ago about a producer that worked with Cheap Trick- cannot remember his name, I think he did the Dream Police album, but he said that Bun always had a gone fishing sign on his drums because he would nail his parts mostly on one take! Now, back in the day, you had to be a great player in the studio. There was no way to hide like you can today. Bun is a tremendous player with great groove and feel.

I was 14 when I went to my first concert; it was supposed to be turned into "KISS Alive II." I didn't know that the opening act was Cheap Trick. 20 years later, I waited for everyone in the band not named "Robin" to finish with a small group of women, and then I told them about the night. They also told me about the night. They said that the sound wasn't usable, so the live album had to be recorded in a studio in New Jersey. I was also told that Gene told our heroes that his drummer was so wasted that Bun might have to put makeup on.

Once he starts to bring his left foot into play it really starts to get rhythmic. A lot of modern drummers because they grow up with double bass drums underestimate the importance of using the hi-hat for timing.
