For the uniformed, or unaware, Bun plays John Bonham's drum break in the middle of "Whole Lotta Love" perfectly! So cool. Bun is just an American institution. He has an encyclopedia mindset of drums, drum beats, drum history, drummers, and everything that is relevant to drums. He just kills it on this compact, but functional Ludwig kit. GOD BLESS BUN E. CARLOS!
I feel personally, that Cheap Trick and Bun E Carlos separating, spelled the very end for the driving, rock spinal chord that was Cheap Trick. I sat learning the Budokan, and Dream Police album, lifting and placing the needle so much, that my albums sounded different at different places on the disc. I learned his fills, and his smooth, solid style I still chase. He made me a much superior drummer than I would have been had I not known his music. Also, his strangely cool, different style of look make it all amazing. So laid back, cigarette dangling barely on the lip while just slamming down the sticks to make the Trick WORK. I ONLY HOPE, we get a chance to see them together again.
Really? Bun E gets thumbs downs??? I personally witnessed musicians and Average concert goers alike get converted and/or won over for many years by Bun’s talent and ability to drive his “old band”... He’s a legend
The 6 1/2 X 14 Acrolite snare is so PHAT! It is the new secret weapon Ludwig has out. Why go broke buying a Black Beauty? Bun could make major $$$ just going around tuning the drums of "the big names" in music. These Ludwigs sound perfect. Amazing tone. Just perfect. Don't ever doubt this man's chops on the drums.
These drums are amazing, bought them on friday, cant get enough. with the right tuning, you can make it sound exactly this. if you want a vintage tone, go get em
I love the playing of Bun E, and I own this edition of the Ludwig Club date which is called the cavern club and in blue oyster pearl. They're incredible to play. They cherry\gum wood combination makes for a big drum sound, and warm. wish I had that acrolite to go with them!
Hey Bunny, When I heard you on the "Rock n Roll Hall of fame " induction I was not surprised how much of a difference in sound and feel there was in your playing compared to Cheap Tricks current drummer. They truly are not the same band without you. You are one of the greats. Greg Hickey.
I like his style. He's a blend of so many things, vintage rock and jazz, probably knows latin and salsa beats. He is a walking encyclopedia of drum knowledge
Cool video Bun . You still got the chops brutha . Ive been picking up your marys place posters at guitar center ! Please come see our beatles tribute band BritBeat . Rock forever Bun !
You sir are a very good drummer, would love to hear you play more. That first beat you were doing I had seen two drummers on the Lawrence well show do that song with that drum beat but don’t remember the name of the song.
My favorite Bun E. story: When James Iha, Taylor Hanson, and the late Adam Schlesinger were forming Tinted Windows, they were kicking around ideas as to whom they could enlist to play drums and decided it should be someone who played like Bun E. Carlos. Rather than do that, Adam asked the man himself, and he happily agreed.
i like this LUDWIG, beautiful sound, beautiful colour ! And beautiful and good Carlos /drummer ! Friendly ! (of DIdier D"agostino frenchy drummer/composer,teacher, videos on youtube)
I believe the bass drum lugs here are the same as the tom lugs. The rods bend inwards, as opposed to a proper bass drum lug, the rod would be straight.
First Video I have seen of Bun E. actually play a solo. Effortless and classy. Aaaa to be a right handed drummer on a right handed kit. I'm a lefty and still struggle after 45 years of drumming.
and that's only a 5 Piece SET.. He puts these new kid drummers to shame... Don't get me wrong, I love Huge Drum Stets, but when a drummer can do more with less. Then I'm impressed !
Another drummer who (I think) still endorses Ludwig and plays a basic kit (extra floor tom) is MATT FLYNN of Maroon 5; He has such a solid groove and just nails the BEAT.
So why does this version of the club date have a BD tom mount? Do they offer this version anymore? I love the club dates but really don't like my rack toms in snare baskets.
Don't get that..You'd have to drill extra holes and that's the last thing you want to do on a Ludwig kit, especially one that may become collectable ! Get the ATLAS arch rail mount consolette.. Remove a couple of lugs, place it anywhere you want on your kick drum, and you're done ! No drilling necessary..
Ludwig, you make exceptional drums and your snares are unparalleled. For the love of (insert deity here) though, please make at the very least, a small change to the dated P-85 strainer you put on your very best (and quite expensive) snare drums. Please make it drum-key operable - that's it. Having to keep a screwdriver handy when virtually everything else on a kit, including the butt on my LM402, is adjusted with a drum key is both inconvenient and shortsighted. Pearl, Tama, Yamaha; heck every other drum company figured this out 30+ years ago!

He's an encyclopedia of players and styles. Plus he's just a sublime drummer -
One of my favorite players, smooth as silk.

Bun E Carlos is the reason I got into drumming. Cheap Trick is the reason I got into Rock N Roll.
He makes it look effortless
One of my all timers...”Ain’t That A Shame “ from Budokon made me switch from guitar to drums
hollyshit that guy can play the drums. just noodling 'round and still sounds great. saw him play at LA coliseum in 1980, he's still got it.
Really? Bun E gets thumbs downs??? I personally witnessed musicians and Average concert goers alike get converted and/or won over for many years by Bun’s talent and ability to drive his “old band”... He’s a legend
Love the sound of this kit...and Bun E's style.
Love watching this guy play drums, a complete pro.
Super underrated drummer...Dream Police is a drum master class of song playing with creativity and pulse...he is a Swiss watch on that recording.

What a great drummer and what a great guy!!!!
Damn.....Bun is THE man!

love that sound
My Christmas gift to myself this year !
Wooooooww. Amazing set. Just perfect for those Bonham triplets as well as some creativeness on that rack tom and snare.
the man has incredible feel
always been what makes him great
this kit sounds really nice as well
Lovely drum sound! It is pretty much what I have been looking for! That drum sound is real music!
Thanks for the video.
Nice that these are brought back.
I like his style. He's a blend of so many things, vintage rock and jazz, probably knows latin and salsa beats. He is a walking encyclopedia of drum knowledge

I want to be able to play like this guy
Can’t hear Bun E. talk but we can sure hear him drum speak! 🥁
WTH. he makes it look so easy
One of cooler drummer ever!
@LudwigTV Thanks for the video! It helped me make the decision to buy this kit in White Marine Pearl.
You make them sing!!!
Man, i wish i had Bun E's collection.. I'd never leave home..
wow such a great sounding kit D: !!!!!
If I was in a live band Carlos seems like a great drummer to have in a band
great sound!
I think I count 38(maybe 39!!!) snare drums in this video :-)
HEAVEN!!!
Ludwig owes Ringo plenty 🥁
Makes it look so easy , just another day at the office
Thanks B.E.C., big fan!
Good sounding drums...for over seas Ludwigs. Haven't seen that finish yet.
Smooth like butter
The snare fits in well with this kit.
You sir are a very good drummer, would love to hear you play more. That first beat you were doing I had seen two drummers on the Lawrence well show do that song with that drum beat but don’t remember the name of the song.
Just bought this Kit!! In the smaller size 20,12,14...
I have one to and sound amazing...

Bun is the balls !!!
Thats his house and his collection. Pretty amazing. The acro is new for 2012.
When I first discovered Cheap Trick I wasn't all that impressed. I have to say it was the drums that hooked me in before anything else.
Bun’s drumming and Tom’s 12 string bass sound make a incredible rhythm section
Hi there.can someone place the microphone to bun so we all can hear what he is saying thank you
I love Cheep Trick but I enjoyed them a lot more when Bun E was playing with them
i like this LUDWIG, beautiful sound, beautiful colour ! And beautiful and good Carlos /drummer ! Friendly ! (of DIdier D"agostino frenchy drummer/composer,teacher, videos on youtube)
Great Musician!
I'm a guitar player, but that's what drums should sound like.
Curious why there's not a proper mic'ed studio to showcase such an unparalleled collection of drums.
very cool
I believe the bass drum lugs here are the same as the tom lugs.
The rods bend inwards, as opposed to a proper bass drum lug, the rod would be straight.
I believe that Bun E Carlos could make a cheap Sears drum set sound good!!!!!!!!
that sounds fuckin awesome
Great open sound.
A lot of kits these days have very little sustain.
This has more of a vintage sound.
Louder!
I want it
Niiiiiice!
Bad ass!!!
reminds me of Ringo - Chip Barkhouse The Drummist
Would you happen to know anyone selling a 16 floor Tom in this finish ? I recently acquired a 13” rack and 22” kick
First Video I have seen of Bun E. actually play a solo. Effortless and classy. Aaaa to be a right handed drummer on a right handed kit. I'm a lefty and still struggle after 45 years of drumming.

justin nelson
He’s playing a 4 piece set, although I do like the double floor toms on that style set.
Bun E. can I have this kit? Lol
Would you please let me know what cymbals are those? Sound terrific!
A. Zildjians
Bun E isn't with Cheap Trick anymore. What's the story?
So why does this version of the club date have a BD tom mount? Do they offer this version anymore? I love the club dates but really don't like my rack toms in snare baskets.
cheap trick just aren't the same without him.
6.5" Acrolite? Never seen one of those before...not that era anyway.
Nice set, but I'll take the OBP on Bun's right.
A series Zildjian
Where can I purchase that exact rail consollette mounting system for my 2016 maple/poplar Club Date kit?
Don't get that..You'd have to drill extra holes and that's the last thing you want to do on a Ludwig kit, especially one that may become collectable !
Get the ATLAS arch rail mount consolette.. Remove a couple of lugs, place it anywhere you want on your kick drum, and you're done ! No drilling necessary..
Bun E. Carlos 🤔🥁👏

Agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee x1000.
No kidding, it's archaic and low budget.
whole lotta love?
I envy you Bun E...
Any way you could get this finish on a legacy or classic maple?
Bun E Carlos. One of the top 5 drummers of all time.
Ludwig users. Led zeppelin. The beatles. The stones. Van halen. Etc
Brand new limited edition
Them baby's have some volume
*Guitarist:* Why in the world does he have so many dru... Oh yeah.
Where is he in this video?
cant even hear it, maxed volume.....
If you have a 16'' floor tom in sky blue pearl you want to sell let me know PLEASE!!!!!!!
is this a 22inch bassdrum?
Brad Carlson ... aka the BUN
Pardon?
can't hear a thing
An iconic drum company indeed! You guys do need to update that piece of crap P-85 strainer though.
Didn't he USED to be.....?
Este tío hace tripletes mejor que Bonham, mas claros de sonido y sin esfuerzo ninguno y a una dinámica baja.
Fluidity
I know, he’s good... BUT, does he really need all those drums?
😆
What??........
