Shout out to Brian and his giant two-liter of Schweppes
The late Sir George Martin was one of the best recording producers of all time. May he rest in peace.
That's an ordinary two-liter bottle. A giant two-liter bottle would be... a three-liter bottle?
@@dububro could it not be the same volume, but with a much wider spout for easier drinking for giantkin?
That ain’t no two-liter of Schweppes, you silly goose- that’s 33.8 fl oz, which is one-liter of delicious Schweppes
The way Brian says “George, I can’t believe this is happening” is so genuine and I love it
Imagine if these two got to work together in the 60s.
We're on the wrong timeline! I'm sure its awesome on that one.
Oh my god it’d be a different world
Drop Mike Love and sub in George Martin and it would have been epic!
The mutual respect here is so genuine. You can even see George’s face just in shock as Brian plays the chords and bass notes of “God Only Knows” like how did he come up with that?!?
It's why anyone who has ever been anyone has such reverence for Brian. Otherwordly.
Sir Paul, and Brian were born 2 days apart.
Paul was born on the 18th, and Brian was
on the 20th. Both in June. Saw Brian last
June 7th. AWESOME concert!
Watching George digging into God Only Knows,
simply smashing. Best song I've ever heard, and
a LOT of musicians agree with me. I am so glad,
Brian wrote this song for his baby brother. No one
else could have done it any better! Lucky angels
have the voice of Carl Dean!
steve
This feels like part of some George Martin "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" style reality show where he meets w/ musicians to produce their classic tracks. I'd absolutely have watched that series.
Paul McCartney and Rick Ruben break down the Beatles songs on 3,2,1 on Hulu. I enjoyed it.
@@scottdickens1454 I absolutely recommend that series, especially those of you who finished Get Back and are hungry for more.
What an amazing compliment at the end! Brian is such a lovely genius
Brian is a very honest guy, you know he genuinely meant that comment at the end.
He was madly jealous.
@@alansommer Jealous? Ha - what we're seeing here is mutual admiration, appreciation, and awe on Brian's part.
I love how Brian impresses George with his songcraft and George impresses Brian with his mixing skills. If *Brian Wilson* compliments your mixing? That is probably 100% genuine haha
The great Brian Wilson created all these pop masterpieces not just from mere talent but also from his intense and genuine love for music. He is a national treasure and deserves to be protected at all costs 👍👍
In reality, Brian is a global treasure, one of the great geniuses of world music.
i think this is my favorite youtube video ever
Truly a pinch me I'm dreaming moment
God only knows what would have become of the Beatles without George Martin? He was a true musical genius, arranger and producer!
Would love to have heard a complete remix of God Only Knows by Sir George. I don't think Brian was just being kind.
totally, the bells sound so good
A George Martin remix of Pet Sounds, I'll buy it at any price.
His son Giles did a remix of the whole album just this year for 5.1 Surround Sound
I could watch these two all day, RIP George❤
“George, I can’t believe this is happening”!
so glad someone was smart enough to put these two in the same room.... just a brilliant video and so insightful
It is hard to imagine anyone who does not like the Beach Boys. This is a great clip.
actually during the 1970's a lot of people wrote off the Beach Boys as musical 'has beens'. It used to piss me off when I'd hear them
get trashed. I'd tell them "you don't know what your talking about" "That group influenced all of the choral/vocal rock groups"
@@spactick The Beach Boys legacy will get deeper and deeper with time, especially as Brian Wilson gets compared more and more, as he has already with some of the household names of classical music.
@@spactick it's a sad thing, Carl and Dennis did some great work, but Brian withdrawing gave Mike a lot more power to shape the legacy & people wrote them off as an oldies jukebox thing.
BWPS, then SMiLE sessions, then "...Radio" seemed to bring them back a lot, 2022 really seems to have been a great year too. Hopefully with a bit of distance from the Kokomo/Summer In Paradise era people start to see the catalogue in full - cuz that run from '64-78 with All Summer Long up to Love You is just too fucking great.
Brian wilson is a total genius....
The idea of George Martin remixing Pet Sounds is musical porn to me. God I wish that would’ve happened.
George Martin was such a classy/decent man. I have nothing but respect for him. If I saw him hitch hiking I'd pick him up in a minute. I really would. That's how much I think of him
Two geniuses together. It doesn't get any better.
RELEASE THE GEORGE MARTIN MIX!!! 😄
Brian is so humble and honest, he's a music legend but he doesn't have a massive ego. Not many artists as big as Brian would have been as honest as that about George's mix, their ego would have got in the way.
Sir George Martin was an alchemist, any musician who said: "George i am thinking of iron", then he would turned into solid gold.....
Lennon heavily criticized his work after the Beatles broke up.
Brian is so right that music comes from the heart! It sure does! He must have an awesome heart as well as all of the BB’s! 😊❤ I love the antique car George drives!
This clip is so cool!
Without question Brian Wilson is one of the central figures in establishing pop/rock music as a genuine art form. Maybe not a great art
form but an art form that is up there with custom car designs or logos on products or TV commercials. Ya a lot of popular music is junk but
Brian Wilson did his best to produce music for us horny teens in the 60's on hot dates. I know I was one of them :)
I just started randomly absolutely losing my mind remembering that Brian just casually has a 2 liter bottle of Schweppes while talking to George Martin over the console, and had to come here to see it again lmao.
I don't think anyone better epitomizes the American Dream in all it's glory and pain more than Brian Wilson.
This made me way too emotional 😅Thanks for sharing it ❤
Two titans
What a fantastic ending to this mini doc.!?!
Brian had almost everything The Beatles plus George Martin had. The Beatles of course had all of it.
In a slightly different universe, George Martin might have been available to help Brian with SMiLE. The Beatles had originally planned to record what became Revolver in the US with an American producer.
Sir George, please go back and expand on this. Two such colossi should talk more.
I would definitely be curious to hear how George Martin would've produced these songs.
I don't know why Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney don't get together and produce an album. Both of them I'm sure have a bundle of
unreleased songs that would sell like hot cakes, besides creating electricity in the industry
From what I've seen of Brian recently I'm not sure if he'd be up for that kind of work
it's hard to find it now, but him and brian did collaborate on the song "a friend like you" in 2004. Its pretty good.
The best way would be Paul as songwriter, Brian as producer, Paul as lead singer, Brian and his band as backup. But some other combinations would be cool too.
If this happened 40 years earlier, there would've been jealousy. But this happened in 2006, and it was pure love Brian showed when George fixed things up
This footage is from 1997. Not sure why the poster of this video says 2006.
It makes me wonder why the two of couldn't come together on material and make an album. In wrestling we call that a dream match.
Imagine if they had, wow.
It wouldn't be practical because of how unpredictable Brian could be.
0:50 wish we could’ve heard the full rendition of this 🎶
Brian Wilson is truly amazing selfless kind hearted man who has done amazingly well and achieving so much for himself and the bravest and honest and sincere for all my dream is to meet Brian Wilson before he departs from this world I want to talk to him about my struggles with mental illness as I have very similar illnesses to what he has I have depression anxiety disorders and stress disorders and learning disabilities and being proud of my illnesses
Holden Caulfield: ya he's getting a little long on the tooth, but what they can do in the studio today (technically) can make up for a lot of
short comings in a performers skills or 'lack of there of'. Maybe what I meant is that it would be nice to see those two record unpublished
songs that they might have hidden in their proverbial closets. Why not? I know they both come on RUclips here, maybe we could give them
a little encouragement? what about it Brian?
And to think these two music geniuses had hearing problems. Mindblowing!
I would live to hear George Martin remix God Only Knows just for giggles
What fun. His peers. 😊
I saw the first concert, of last years season.
Brian retired FINALLY after that show. To say
it was a Bucket List Item, would be playing that
down! The second act, some group from Chicago,
was even better.
steve
2 geniuses.
How is it "previously unreleased"? I saw this on BBC TV when it was first shown as part of music documentary series Sir George Martin made.
The title refers to "previously unreleased on home media until 2006". It's named exactly the same way it is on the back of the box.
When Brian and his fellow Beach Boys cut this song, Brian's decision to let his brother Carl sing lead vocal was a stroke of genius.
I only trust people that drink straight out of a 2 litter bottle ;)
Was this great song used in Boogie Nights?
Two very nice and sweet men who just happen to have genius i them.
Genuine love of music - comes through loud and clear.
Where can I find this whole show?
This footage is from 1997
It's the version taken from the 2006 40th Anniversary Edition of Pet Sounds. It's simply titled how it is on that release.
2 Genuises.......
If you read the Pet Sounds Sessions liner notes by George, or listen to the All Star Tribute to Brian speech by George, or just this, you will not that George was so scripted. Just rehashing the same words to a tee.
Brian got mad because of the better mix! Thats what happened lol
