I think there is one missing where if you ask the finger maiden how to burn the erdtree she will tell you that it needs a sacrifice. After that Melina pops up and says she will act as the kindling.
Actually there's another one missing, if you accepted her help from the get go there's 3 conversations you can have but must be done before entering stormveil castle. The third talks about her searching for her purpose and being sorry for not providing guidance. So what I did was the first one (where u get Torrent) at Gatefront ruins, the second at Stormhill shack, and the third in the tunnel before entering Stormveil castle.
Another one missing: going to one of Boc’s spot after giving him the sewing needle and before reaching Altus, she talks about how Boc looks up to us and how he would appreciate it if we talked to him once in a while
Such a shame you can get the frienzed flame to make yourself the kindling instead of Melina then subdue the frienzed flame and basically save her from burning and she never comes back. No extra dialogue from that :(
A slight addition to this: if you talk to her twice after beating mogh, she says herself “I shall see to the kindling. It is a purpose which I choose to fulfill. So please, leave the frenzied flame alone.” Her saying this actually convinced me to not try and inherit the flame just to save her, since I didn’t want to deny her something she wanted to do so bad. EDIT: this dialogue actually ONLY appears if you’ve talked to shabiri beforehand it seems
i really love how if you talk to shibriri and go down towards the frenzied flame. the game works out so at basically every bonefire you stop at she's begging you to stop. its a great scene. really made me feel conflicted on my choice but oh well i had my heart set on frenzied flame for my first playthrough!
I got parts of the Altus Plateau Dialogue (9:00) much earlier at the Stormhill Shack grace. She told me about her mother, purpose, and where she was born, but she also apologized for not being able to give me guidance even though she is acting as a Finger Maiden. So cool there are variations.
Gotta love how cursing the land and everyone born in it to fucking shit with the dung eater ending is acceptable for melina, but burning the erdtree to the ground yourself and becoming the lord of chaos is when you cross the line
I guess because as long as you repair the Elden Ring she's ok with it even if it's not the Perfect Order. But if you just destroy everything what's the point of all her struggles?
1:39 Greetings. Traveler from beyond the fog. I am Melina. I offer you an accord. I don't know why, but I like the way she says that. Quite memorable for me.
There has got to be more planned for her. It would suck a lot to have such an intriguing character relegated to only about 24 minutes of total dialog. There are too many questions for it to just end at her sacrifice or just leaving due to the frenzied ending. Idk there's got to be more in a potential dlc or something.
@@rickard486 She's also like the most important character in this story. That excuse of "she's only a fire keeper" is weak af. She's arguably the driving force behind this whole plot. She's underutilized, period.
For sure - Marika/Radagon is extremely hard to get a grasp on at the best of times. One more thing to consider is D (& D's brother), who are described as being one soul in two bodies, welcomed by the Golden Order when they were spurned by most others. They feel like a telling parallel, and a shared soul would help explain stuff like both halves having separate ancestry (Radagon has Fire Giants ancestry & angst over his red hair; Marika is a Numen) and histories up to their joining. Then again, their bodies end up fused, and that didn't seem to help much either, so who knows.
@@TheWaross She always talks about her mother, but there she wonders how one would behave if born from a mother. I really want to know what her deal is.
I’m so mad that I accidentally inherited the frenzied flame without knowing what it was. Thanks for making this video so I can see all the parts I missed without having to replay the whole game. Also, It’s pretty stupid that you don’t get an option to choose yes/no to the flame and the only warning is easily missable if you don’t see the “talk to Melina” option at the bonfire.
@@mrimthebeast I did the quest to remove it, but it doesn’t bring Melina back or show me any of the cutscenes and dialogue I already missed. Can’t do much better than that
It's crazy how much dialogue she has (I think she has the most out of the majority of NPCs) yet almost all of it can be completely missed if you dont actively try to talk to her at certain points in the game.
Hey these are the patch notes, they currently added on to further npc quests : "Added new quest phases for the following NPCs: Diallos/ Nepheli Loux/ Kenneth Haight/ Gatekeeper Gostoc."
This give more context to her. My first play through i didnt interact with her till she left and came back and then burned up. I didnt feel anything lol.
Except one thing. Marika's own word says "let us be shattered, my other self". It really give the vibe like they were one that separate before merging again.
So... Something happened to her making her unable to ascertain her own purpose, showing there is a gap in her own memories. But at the same time, she knew she was born at the foot of the Erdtree, and she knew her mother was within It. At the capital, she went galivanting about and when she returned, she knew her purpose and realised we have to burn the Erdtree. I surmise that Melina's mother was Malika, and Melina knew Malika was within the Erdtree as they were synonymous with one another (Malika = Elden Ring and Erdtree = Elden Ring), but she did not anticipate there being brambles preventing access to the Queen. She then realised that Malika was now effectively a prisoner of the Greater Will within the Erdtree, and there would be no recourse to the current breaking down of Order as there cannot be a new Elden Lord to restore Order unless they were able to meet with Malika. By our various escapades in the Churches of Malika, she deduced the natural enemy of the Erdtree was the eternal flame of the giants, and in Malika's own words she encouraged all her offspring to define their own purposes, so Melina decided she would free her mother by using the eternal flame of the giants. Now, she might have known there was a difference between the giants' flame and the frenzied flames or the three fingers, as she bears the mark of three fingers on her eye and burn marks, there was a possibility she had encountered it before and knew its true nature, and the consequences of using it. It would be detrimental to her goal of saving Mother, should She perish at the same time when frenzied flames were used. As this was what happened during the frenzied flame ending, her dialogue at her final appearance probably forewarned she would then be taking revenge for the death of her Mother at the hands of the MC, rather than the lives of the masses that she had used to appeal against the MC's decision of using the frenzied flame. If Melina were truely the daughter of Malika, who, then, was her father? If we were to follow naming conventions then it would not be Godfrey but Radagon, thus making Melina an Empyrean as well. But Radagon's Empyrean offspring all had cursed afflictions, maybe Melina also had a hidden curse she struggled to live with which explains her readiness to sacrifice herself in order to free Malika from the Erdtree.
Hmm... What if Melina was the other personality, of Lady Ranni? Marika's daughter. Marika had a split personality or a separate being within the same body. Radagon. What if Lady Ranni also had that same effect? Perhaps that was the reason, that Lady Ranni had a death, that is oddly different. She shed her flesh but how? She committed suicide. Yet, only her body, died. While her soul, lives on. Perhaps once their flesh is gone, Lady Ranni as well as Melina, does not need to embody within one single being. As Melina, only appears, when we are at a Site of Grace. Where her connection, to the tree, by the Grace, are the strongest.
@@VCR8883 Hahaha. That is very much true. It's just that I thought Ranni's other half face, the spiritual one, looked a lot like Melina. They both have the same short hair as well. They also fade away with that blue effect particle. That is why I assume so as well. There always "Two as One" principle in the lore.
@@VCR8883 Yooooo i definitely think you are right.. When melina is sacrificed a certain string of music plays. The exact same string of music when the Elden beast is revealed.
@@VCR8883 She also mentions she was born at the foot of the erdtree (where the elden beast resides). Also explains why melina doesnt have a physical body. But if you become the chaos lord and destory the erdtree she does?? and the mark over her eye is gone.
GUYS, what if, and hear me out, melina IS marika? The whole «radagon is marika» is a red herring plot twist cuz no one gives a fuck about that but melina? Think about it fellas. When we find marika she a stone cold bitch, literally. She’s like an empty husk, a stone statue, marika no longer inhabits the bakery. That’s why radagon is able to take over and whoop your ass. But melina? She’s marika’s soul, or at least a part of it. She’s burned and bodiless, and was given a purpose by her mother, but she choses her own path. She knows all about the frenzied flame, so maybe her original purpose was to inherit the frenzy flame? Listen to this mfs, who knows what marika’s will actually is? She tasked hewg to make a weapon to kill a god (elden beast, her master) she shattered the elden ring, the very foundation of existence, starting a great war, and diddly doo. Maybe the bitch is just fuckin crazy and wants to end it all? Destroy everything? But then melina who is like her soul but she’s forgotten the teason for doing all this shit so with a clearer mind not burdened by heartbreak n all the other baggage decides that life is the shit and she’d rather burn herself for the sake of the world than to burn the world for the sake of herself??
I heard in the new patch today that people are finding Patches in the shaded castle and he's giving and item for lady Tanith? Hope to see a plethora of videos coming soon for all the updated quest!
The Frenzied Flame Ending gives me IRL frenzy. This ending is just pure mystery with zero answers. None of the new physical features of Melina can be explained, nor can be seen or displayed on any other character or enemy. ( the tattoo, the blue eye) without mentioning her new hair color and the fading tatoo. The gloaming eye only could be linked to the ... Gloam-eyed Queen, but the purpose and powers of the Gloam Eyed Queen don't fit with Melina at all. Why is she the only survivor of the fucking apocalypse ? I'm going nuts after months of research.
I love how people complain that she isn't in the game but she has the most amount of Dialogue in a fromsoftware game 24 minutes is insane and this guy also missed a couple of them so it’s probably 27 minutes
I still can't find the line, "They will fight and they will die in an un-ending curse. For how else is a champion, or a lord, to be born?" Does anyone have ANY idea?
they dropped the ball on melina so fucking hard man. she has no impact on the game whatsoever until the end and then she either dies or disappears. and no extra dialogue for using miquella's needle...it really seems like certain parts of this game were rushed. so disappointing.

Thank you for this. Went down to the three fingers thinking I could just wipe the frenzy with the needle later, next thing I know Melina is mad at me and leaves me alone right before the forge. I even sat at the bonfire to see if an NPC would spawn, but missed the option to talk to her. One mistake and I got screwed, but that's Fromsoft.
This is most of it but there is still alot missing, like if u talk to Shabriri, and then go to another grace site she'll immediately tell u nope I told u to take me to the place so I can handle the kindling. And if u try to go frenzy like he said she'll warn u but say it's her choice to be kindling so stop it lol
I'm so pissed, I missed half of these all because of a way gate that jumped me to the capital early. Not to mention the fact the area with the seal for the lift of Dectus is in an area more difficult than the areas leading to the capital, which makes no sense at all. Basically they are terrible at quest progression design, but oh well, who cares if things are ruined or spoiled right?
There's a piece of dialogue where she talks about herself near the beginning of the game that you missed. It starts off with "Me?" But I don't remember the rest or the specific requirements to get that piece of dialogue.
Yeah, I was looking for this one as well. The WIki has it as the following: "Me, I'm searching for my purpose given to me by my mother inside the Erdtree long ago, for the reason that I yet live, burned and bodyless. "There is something for which I must apologize. I've acted the finger maiden yet I can offer no guidance, I am no maiden. My purpose was long ago lost..." I'm not sure this is 100% correct, though, as I thought it was "burdened and bodiless" and is actually the reason I came here, to see if someone recorded it
I haven't defeated Margit but I just got the dialogue and transported to the round table. I missed the dialogue because I rested for grace and went and made some food 🤣 Glad I could find it here to see what I missed!
I wish there was an option in this game to just not become a lord at all. The Tarnished is a wondering warrior who killed the gods for their own amusement. That kind of person might be good to have a beer with, but not lead a country.
Imagine if DLC were to be released and Melina turns out to be the ultimate boss. Where her soothing voice becomes the voice of terror, becoming a badass. I'd lost my freaking mind.
Just went and inherited the frenzied flame. The way you can hear her usually monotone and emotionless (not in a bad way btw, since it's the point of the character) voice start to break and be filled with fear and desperation is heartbreaking. The fact that even Melina, who is perhaps the most closed-off individual in all of the Lands Between, is this scared and desperate really goes to show how terrible the Flame of Frenzy really is.
No maidens🌚? Spoiler ahead: It appears, that we actually had a maiden, but white-face Varre (the guy who meets us at the begging and calls us "maidenless") is the one who killed our maiden and took her blood, due to the fact that he serves a lord of blood Mogh. If you talk to shabriri before going to the frenzied flame proscription, I got a prompt at the church where you kill mogh. Got a slighty different dialogue about her being the kindling in the second half of her asking you to not become the lord of frenzy.
Just got through the jumping section and she continued her speech, adding the part where a lord is no lord in a lifeless land. If you don’t talk to shabriri or at the church right before making your way down you miss a whole batch of dialogue it seems. There’s so much detail in this game.
@@ronroller5731 Wait, I'm pretty sure I spoke to her at the grace of Frenzy Flame BEFORE speaking to Shabiri at the Mountain, but she still has that line about "a lord is no lord in a lifeless land". @@plipplop728 ruclips.net/video/SSheiQLiTSk/видео.html at 0:47 in this video is the extra bit of dialogue I got about her being the kindling. I’m not sure if you have to talk to shabriri before hand but I’m assuming the game expects you to do that to point you towards the three fingers.
I felt like I was in a long distance relationship with Melina as I played the game lol. The dialogue before and after the frenzied flame was hard to hear but I needed it for 100% completion.
10:40 I feel Marika manipulated her children to wage war on each other, basically telling them that if they didn't achieve greatness, then they were nothing.
So after frenzied flame she loses her guidance because she lost the gold glint in her eye. Meaning she is basicaly like godfrey when he became a tarnished Yet opened the other one with a now blue eye clear eye like ranni, maybe she is renna?
Her speech in the Queen's Chamber is honestly a large part of how I've formulated my theory/idea about Radagon and Marika. 13:18 (I am fully aware of the Rebis) I should also note it's more working knowledge than full theory, since I always keep finding new snippets. So, let's start the story like this. Marika and Radagon are seperate. Marika is with Godrey, have 3 kids, Marika thinks two smell and yeets em into a sewer. Radagon fights Rennala, likes her, uses celestial dew, marries her, has kids etc. But Godrey gets ousted, with all the other now-tarnished. So Radagon is called back, dumps Rennala, and DOESN'T use Celestial Dew. (I don't think this points to him already/not alreadty being one w. Marika, just him following Marika's goal to break Rennala). I presume that they fused somehow after this. Notably, Melina is speaking in the BEDCHAMBER. While in some ways her dialogue is confusing, as it starts with "O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order. Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god." This seems to point very clearly to them being seperate. But how does this reconcile with what comes very shortly after, in the same dailogue course. "Let us be shattered, both. Mine other self." While this seems very hard to get working, I do have a theory, actually 2. Theory one is that we are basically hearing right before and after fusing. That her talking about "not yet being me" is right before they are both one. Of course, the shattering part is odd, but the second theory focuses more on that. Theory 2 is like the first theory in that it implies that the first and 2nd dialogue parts are seperate. However, this theory would put them further apart, with her saying the last part on the way to go and shatter the elden ring. The odd part for this theory is why the echoes are at the same time, but since echoes seem to go past time, maybe that's just fine. As for items such as Malenia's rune, I have no issues with this, since I assume that Radagon and Marika are fused before Melania and Miquella are born anyways. Regardless of when they fuse, while they are one creature now, in body, I think that even by the end of the game they are seperate in mind(maybe soul, basically just seperate in their "ego"). After all, Radagon still takes over to fight. Maybe the beast even broke the cross for him.
They should not have had a talk to melina option cause I only saw her that 1 time when you first meet her and the second time for the round table then when I learned that you can talk to her she just says "thanks bro gotta bounce"
I still wonder about her hair colour. Is she really having the complex appearance of marika and radagon in her. Then her having black hair could be the actual gloam eyed true form. It’s still interesting.

I guess she likes people being born as unholy chimera over setting the planet on fire

13:20 is actually really important for the lore. Now we know more about the Marika is Radagon
I wonder about the one at 9:25 She seems to wonder what it's like to have a mother

Also, It’s pretty stupid that you don’t get an option to choose yes/no to the flame and the only warning is easily missable if you don’t see the “talk to Melina” option at the bonfire.

It's crazy how much dialogue she has (I think she has the most out of the majority of NPCs) yet almost all of it can be completely missed if you dont actively try to talk to her at certain points in the game.
The dialogue at Marika's chamber is so relevant to the lore. 13:20.

i’m so bummed i didn’t pay enough attention to the menu when i rested at grace i didn’t notice u could talk to her until like 60 hours in
6:45 So it wasn't the Greater Will who abandoned the Tarnished, it was Marika.
Lol
This give more context to her. My first play through i didnt interact with her till she left and came back and then burned up. I didnt feel anything lol.
Nice lore tidbits here. Further solidifies the idea to me that Radagon was a separate person that worked to merge with Marika.
Except one thing. Marika's own word says "let us be shattered, my other self". It really give the vibe like they were one that separate before merging again.
Idk why but her voice tickles a part of my brain that’s just so satisfying
@@VCR8883
Hahaha.

None of the new physical features of Melina can be explained, nor can be seen or displayed on any other character or enemy. ( the tattoo, the blue eye) without mentioning her new hair color and the fading tatoo.
The gloaming eye only could be linked to the ... Gloam-eyed Queen, but the purpose and powers of the Gloam Eyed Queen don't fit with Melina at all.

It starts off with "Me?"
But I don't remember the rest or the specific requirements to get that piece of dialogue.

Yeah, I was looking for this one as well. The WIki has it as the following:
"Me, I'm searching for my purpose given to me by my mother inside the Erdtree long ago, for the reason that I yet live, burned and bodyless.
"There is something for which I must apologize. I've acted the finger maiden yet I can offer no guidance, I am no maiden.
My purpose was long ago lost..."
I'm not sure this is 100% correct, though, as I thought it was "burdened and bodiless" and is actually the reason I came here, to see if someone recorded it
Found a recording, it is "burned"

Melina always made me feels safe...
I wish there was an option in this game to just not become a lord at all. The Tarnished is a wondering warrior who killed the gods for their own amusement. That kind of person might be good to have a beer with, but not lead a country.

Melina is a liar. I have played through the entire game and she killed herself. I never received my Honda Accord.
With the dialog at the end of the video she goes full John Wick.
9:50 oh so that one gave a gesture
So after frenzied flame she loses her guidance because she lost the gold glint in her eye. Meaning she is basicaly like godfrey when he became a tarnished
Yet opened the other one with a now blue eye clear eye like ranni, maybe she is renna?
Her speech in the Queen's Chamber is honestly a large part of how I've formulated my theory/idea about Radagon and Marika.
13:18
(I am fully aware of the Rebis)
I should also note it's more working knowledge than full theory, since I always keep finding new snippets.
