I am a DIE Hard Crow fan. I have been since I woke up in the middle of the night one night when I was 11, now 29, and The Crow was playing on HBO. I am literally the target audience for this movie, and I have 0 interest in seeing it. To quote Dennis Miller, I don't wanna go off on a rant here, but I can tell from just the trailer alone that they don't understand the character they're using nor do they understand the story or even the purpose of why it was written in the first place. The story isn't just about revenge, it's about what's right and what's wrong. Do people die every day? Yes, of course they do, but sometimes, just sometimes, you can be so screwed over and die such a horrible and unjustified death, that even death itself thinks you deserve to make it right. On top of that, you owe it not only to yourself, but to the person who died with you to make it right. That's what the crow is about on the whole, making things right. I just don't get that from this new edition, so sadly I'm just gonna have to pass, which is saying a lot because I'm one of the 5 people on earth who actually liked Crow: Wicked Prayer.
As a dude born in the late 1980s, I was definitely too young to see the OG Crow film in the cinema back in 1994 (and as a result, may be part of the "target audience" for this "remake"/"reboot" too)! I ended up watching the OG film in the mid 2000s thanks to Netflix's DVD rental (long before said company became the streaming juggernaut it is today)! And it has stuck with me for a long time since then! The OST also rocks (and prolly helped bolster its legend as well)! Brandon Lee will ALWAYS BE THE Eric Draven! 😊 As soon as I heard about this "reboot" and found out they were recycling the Eric Draven story arc, I was like "this will bomb real bad at the cinemas" - and many of us who saw this coming were vindicated by the said movie's horrid opening weekend box office gross! I swear the "reboot" would have stood a much better chance had they gone with a different main character and story arc (and there are a shit ton of Crow comics they could have plucked from if they were too lazy to write a new character and story arc)! 🤦♂️
The original 1994 Crow inspired the look for WCW superstar Sting when he went to the "dark side" in 1996. Sting would keep "The Crow look" for the rest of his career til his final match in 2024. I don't think this Crow movie will inspire anybody, even the lowliest jobber.
During the 2010's Sting also had a 'Joker Sting' persona which make up inspired by Heath Ledger's Joker. Last year he even had half and half make up like a 'Two-Face' of Crow and Joker make up while also having a hat and coat like Jack the Ripper. There's an action figure of that out soon too. :)
@@Carnivius_Prime Oh yeah, I wasn't watching TNA at that time, but I did hear about "Joker" Sting. I watch AEW occasionally, & I don't get all the PPVS (or PLE's or whatever they call them now) so I must've missed "Two-Face" Joker/Crow Sting. The action figure does sound cool though.
@@justjoe4775 Yeah, it was kinda funny to see some of the criticisms to Joker Sting being "oh he's just copying a popular comic book movie". Like... did they not know where his most common make up style came from that he's used the majority of his career? They didn't know The Crow? Anyways yeah, Joker Sting was a lot of fun. He really just went all out with the crazy and it fit the storyline they were telling. WCW, TNA and AEW treated Sting well. WWE wasted him. They just couldn't have the icon of WCW actually win that big match against Triple H, eh?
1 thing I always like to point out from the original movie is that with Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore from Ghostbusters) n Tony Todd (who played Candyman) n when they go at each other the ghostbusters beats the ghost just a little meta there is all
You know it's sad bc for YEARS studios have been going back and forth about remaking the original and going from actor to actor and director to director and script after script but nothing stuck, and when it finally does we get this sh*t. They should have just gone for ANY of the previous choices bc I can't imagine those past potentials having been any worse. I'm sure some were far better.
I don't think WCBS will cover War of the Rohirrim as I recall they don't like Lord of the Rings. War of the Rohirrim makes me sad as I liked Kenji Kamiyama's previous work. I will just stick with the six Peter Jackson films (yes I really like The Hobbit trilogy warts and all), the books and the Howard Shore scores.
@@DecultureReviews the hobbit films are fun. Too overhated. Jackson did the best he could with the studio breathing down his neck to force a trilogy instead of the duology he wanted instead as he knew the Hobbit wasn’t trilogy material but also didn’t have to be just a single film.
@@ParkerCS2 I keep hearing that but nothing official from him. He stated he had no regrets making those films and took responsibility for them and seems overall happy with how they turned out and I haven't heard him say otherwise. He even stated in an Exeter college oxford interview (on youtube) that it was his, Fran and Phillipa's idea to do three movies and they pitched it to Warners. I have never heard him confirm that he was strong armed into doing three. It could also have been a case where warners suggested it and as filming went along he became open to the idea and went ahead with it. Plans change in movies all the time. All I heard about him being strong armed was from third party sources, hearsay and some questionable trivia on imdb. He openly admitted the films were difficult to make in the extras and the change of plans made things harder and although looking very tired he never gave off the air of a man who hated or showed disappointment in what he was making. If he was strong armed or unhappy with them in anyway I believe he would have said so by now as whatever NDA he would have been under would have expired. Like how Sam Raimi got candid about Spider-man 3 about a decade hence. But Jackson has not done that. Anyway, I think the films are far better than given credit for. Not everything worked and there are criticisms I whole heartedly agree with but I loved the expanded scope to explore the concept of treasure.
@@DecultureReviews yeah like I said the films are overhated. Not bad in the slightest, and Peter Jackson did a great job. It feels like it’s the same world as the original LOTR trilogy. And is fun and dramatic and whimsical at the same point.
As someone who absolutely loves Brandon Lee The Crow movie..(watch it a few times every year) i knew the reboot was gonna be bad but its downright awful and dull as hell to watch..
The crow part 2 isn't that bad any more. You know the one where the girl from the first one is a tattoo artist, and the guy looses his son...,and don't forget Iggy Pop being a villian! It's a good movie now!
As a The Crow fan Yep the original and sequel are the only 2 Crow film I like and accept. Not a fan of Salvation or the TV series ..so not going near this
No one will ever capture the same atmosphere as Brandon, this one was like seeing Steve o from jackass running around trying to take him seriously 😂. 🤫 CASH GRAB 🤑
I can't ever agree with that statement. Sorry. The scene where he throws himself through a windshield was rad. I'll bet most people complaining didn't even see it. I'm a fan since the original came out and the comics. This was the second best movie in my opinion. Not a great Eric Draven story, but at least he finally looked more comic accurate. (Should've done the Flesh and Blood story though) the bird had more sadistic input in that one.
I have them and liked those movies. I have the Crow comics that the first movie was based on. Why didn't they just make the movie based more on the comic. The comic was darker yet meaningful. Hell, they could have done the movie based on another of the Crow comics. That would have made more sense.
Them changing the main characters into recovering drug addict human trash...yeah...The Crow or ANY of the powers that be, would not grant waste like them the power of revenge, period. Also, come on now...Bills Pennywise is NOWHERE close to the same league as Tim Curry...counted on CGI and "trying to" act scary all the time. When Tim Curry could go from "funny clown" to scary at the drop of a hat...no CGI needed. He was good in Hemlock Grove though...
The original works so well is because eric and shelley were innocent, lovely people trying to live their lives before they were targeted. This new one has them both be scumbags, which ruins the entire premise.
Why do the younger generation think that they can make classics so much better than they already are? The original was just wrote better, acted better. And there was no need in remaking it. Not saying that these actors suck, but the original was just so much better. More relatable
I went to see the 30th anniversary of the Original The Crow in theaters recently-they actually showed the long preview for this right before it started. Can't even tell you the reaction of the audience(dead silence and then not seeing that crap out loud-some other expletives as well) This movie was DOA. It does nothing for the original story or anything new-when the best thing anyone can say is the opera house was bloody and gory-what the hell, The original had violence but for a reason not just for 'blood and gore'.
What diversity tho? I'm not watching this dumpster fire of a movie, but the trailer only showed white people, that one black guy, that one Asian chick. I don't understand why people say that this movie is diverse just because they race swapped Shelly. The original crow had Brandon Lee (Asian-American), Ernie Hudson (African-American), Bai Ling (Asian), the bad guys were black and white. Even the detective who hates officer Albrecth is Latino... I think there was enough diversity in the 1994 film and very little in this 2024.
@@beusin Right? The original film is very diverse. I think a lot of people somehow forget Brandon Lee is half-asian despite his father famously being the iconic Bruce Lee.
As an answer to this unnecessary reboot, we really need a Netflix anime-style animated series that combines James'O'Barr's original "The Crow" comic book and Brandon Lee's "The Crow" movie.
@@glennjosechristman4612 1. The movie doesn't need a remake. 2. Have you seen what Netflix does to beloved properties? 3. The movie doesn't need a remake.
This is my fear for the Cavill led Highlander movie. I like Cavill, but I cant help but think they will once again, screw over a classic movie with a shit re-make. Hollyweird needs to STOP with the shitty re-makes and TRY and come up with some originality.
Some stories should be left alone. Everything about the original & the obvious tragedy should mean the story is retired, like how they do with jersey numbers to honour players. This is Brandon Lee's story. Cashing in on it shows how little they respect anything. 🕊️
To be fair only the first movie was good the sequels got progressively worse. At the end of the day this is just another sequel. As for the more Nihilistic ending of the new movie..... If you ever go back and watch the making of featurette for the crow they mentioned that originally the movie was going to have a very different ending but they made a much more romantic and sentimental one in honor of Brandon and his wife. It gives it a cinnamentality that the other movies just don't have...... Particularly this one. People aren't going to feel good about the movie walking away if the titular character winds up suffering in hell for all eternity now are they?!? Never mind the further you get away from the source material when you're making an adoption the less interested people who actually liked the source material are going to be. The sequels all had that problem and this one is no exception.
Reboots=💩 There’s literally got to be thousands of writers out there just waiting to have there story told on film. Why do these people think that we want reboots? I hard pass on any reboots.
If you are a fan of the original, there is no way you should see this. The sequels were 10 times better than this piece of garbage. This movie is everything wrong with Hollywood today.
I've only seen the City of Angels and thought it was bad but I'd rather watch that over this because at the very least, City of Angels tried to do something new and the grungy aesthetic was still intact.
I always try to watch the original film on my birthday which coincidentally is the same day/ night that Eric Draven n Shelly Webster died on October 30th
The only possible redeeming quality that a remake COULD have had would've been if it attempted to adapt the original GN more closely, but this film didnt even attempt to go that avenue. If anything, this take is even FURTHER from the source material than the original film. This was just a case of Hollywood wanting to do its own story while using a beloved IP to market in a pre-selected audience. Nothing more. This shouldve been a new entry in the saga using original characters....NOT a remake. The only thing more depressing than what they did here are the ppl praising this movie as vastly superior to the original. Sad times, indeed.
I agree with everything u said except that Bill is in better shape than Brandon Lee. Brandon Lee was in incredible shape and an excellent martial artist in his own right. RIP Brandon Lee
They refused to listen to us! Don't remake the Crow ! There was no point because the Crow was perfect . Can't do it any better and then Lee was killed and ascended instantly to classic! But no Hollywood had to remake it and nobody knew it would be bird shit no nobody saw this coming😢😮😂😅😅😅
I've been a fan of the original since it came out, but not the sequels. This definitely outshined all 3 sequels. Even the original failed to capture the comics 100% though. Only ONE non cannon character ever spoke to the bird like a fellow character (SARAH). This version doesn't deserve the hate. It just shouldn't have been Eric Draven if it's in Europe with a demonic witch involved. I've said it before, I'll say it again... "just adapt Flesh and Blood!"
The crow was just a bad luck movie even though the 1994 original was actually good. The movie was cursed because of that movie we never got to see Brandon Lee’s movie career takeoff because he was shot and killed on the set so why would the movie even need to be remade?
ENYA? Lordy lordy lordy. That's beyond stupid. HARD pass. I also concur with the comments elsewhere. When you make Draven an addict and both lovers part of the criminal underground--The studio does not understand and completely misses the story, the plot, the soul, and the whole point of the source material comic and the 1994 movie. I loved that movie and I don't even like comic books.
That movie was the memorial of brandon lee. And no one asked for a remake. Just stop assaulting the stories that already end. Create new stories. If you cannot, there are too many young and briliant screen writers over there. All around the world! Find them and give them a chance. "The money guaranteed" projects are not guarantee that much anymore. You should start to try something new.
Prague is not eastern Europe it is central Europe. I will not watch this film because why did they make this with the heros name Eric it should have another name it might have got more people watch it
I gave it a chance, its not awful by any means, not great either. It was a tad to slow in my opinion and they took some of the mystery away from it by explaining it aloud. I totally understand it was for a modern audience that's new to it, but things could've been done differently. Whoever cut the trailer did a decent job.

*Actual idealism,* centralized government, *social Darwinism, planned economy,* anti-democratic, *meritocratic, extreme nationalism,* militarism, racism (Nazism). *Traditional and/or exaggerated gender roles. One-party system.*
Ideas of Fascism
*The union between businesses and the State, with the state telling the business what to do,* with nominally private ownership. *Corporatism in Italy,* National Socialism in Germany. Central planning of National economy. Redistribution of wealth (Nazi).
Economic Coordination in Fascism
Businesses are nominally privately owned; *the State dictates outputs and investments.* Planning is based on projected labor output rather than money.
Ownership structure in Fascism
The means of production are nominally privately owned but *directed by the State. Private ownership of the business is contingent upon the submission to the direction and interests of the State.*
The point I'm making here is that these corporations act under direction from the State to achieve a desired result. The goal right now is to turn people away from Liberalism/Marxism towards religious Conservativism.
What is the “7 Mountains Mandate” (Dominionism/Dominion Theology)? Supposedly there are 7 “mountains” of global society-Arts and Entertainment, Education, Economy, Family, Government and Military, Media and Religion. (Note: The US voting machines are called “Dominion”.) According to this false teaching, by conquering these 7 “mountains”, the Kingdom of God will be established.

It’s all part of the demoralization phase. The Commies who are actually running Hollywood, are systematically destroying all the beloved IP’s. This was pointed out 40 years ago by Yuri Bezmemov.
the crow tv series is better than the crow remake.
Mark Dascascos is a great substitute for Brandon Lee. He's got the looks and the skills.
@@Carnivius_Prime And from what I remember reading in an article back in 1998, he starred in the series as a tribute to Brandon Lee, whom he personally knew from when they were both kids and used to play together (their families knew each other).
The crow that fights with the squirrels in my back garden is better than the crow remake.
I still listen to the soundtrack.
@@jessejames8900 I play my cd frequently. Last Friday, in honor of the "reimagining's" opening, I raised one to Brandon and watched The Crow "94.
As soon as I heard about this "reboot" and found out they were recycling the Eric Draven story arc, I was like "this will bomb real bad at the cinemas" - and many of us who saw this coming were vindicated by the said movie's horrid opening weekend box office gross! I swear the "reboot" would have stood a much better chance had they gone with a different main character and story arc (and there are a shit ton of Crow comics they could have plucked from if they were too lazy to write a new character and story arc)! 🤦♂️
Rupert Sanders owns public apology for the fans, James O'bar and Brandon Lee.
Remember, this man ruined his marriage for Kristen Stewart.
Brandon lees probably turning in his grave
I bet Crows have landed on his headstone right now
The original 1994 Crow inspired the look for WCW superstar Sting when he went to the "dark side" in 1996. Sting would keep "The Crow look" for the rest of his career til his final match in 2024. I don't think this Crow movie will inspire anybody, even the lowliest jobber.
I heard the inspiration for the crow's makeup is from Alice Cooper.
Poor Brandon Lee please forgive us.
It's always a good sign when you hear about a movie for the first time and it's from everyone agreeing the movie seem terrible 😹
1 thing I always like to point out from the original movie is that with Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore from Ghostbusters) n Tony Todd (who played Candyman) n when they go at each other the ghostbusters beats the ghost just a little meta there is all
the villian was pointless why the hell was he in this film? why was this film made?
Somethings just shoud be left untouched... the Crow would be the very top of that list.
They could remake this a million times and they could never remake the magic of the original.
All the failures aside -- The Crow is a GOTH classic.
I don't know WTF this tripe is, but it is about as Goth as an Alabama gospel choir.
You have to watch the original to get the wack ass version out your mind. Kind of did the same thing with the Michael Bay Ninja turtles.

War of the Rohirrim looks like it could be a girlboss disaster. WCB needs to do video on it.
As good as the Brandon Lee movie was, the James O'Barr comic was f**king legendary.
As someone who absolutely loves Brandon Lee The Crow movie..(watch it a few times every year) i knew the reboot was gonna be bad but its downright awful and dull as hell to watch..
This was dark as the HBO watchmen to the 2009 film.
Top Dollar, T-Bird, Funboy, Skank, Tintin, I still remember the gang’s names. THOSE are memorable characters.
The crow part 2 isn't that bad any more. You know the one where the girl from the first one is a tattoo artist, and the guy looses his son...,and don't forget Iggy Pop being a villian! It's a good movie now!
It was never a bad movie.
Iggy Pop made it unwatchable for me. Ever heard what he got up to? His 1995 song Lookaway has him brag about it.
As a The Crow fan Yep the original and sequel are the only 2 Crow film I like and accept. Not a fan of Salvation or the TV series ..so not going near this
omg i just realized he also (suicide squad joker) has some tattoo above his eyebrows T_T . who the fuck comes up with that shit-
No one will ever capture the same atmosphere as Brandon, this one was like seeing Steve o from jackass running around trying to take him seriously 😂. 🤫 CASH GRAB 🤑
The comic was great and had a really interesting story behind it’s creation.
So naturally the new movie has to be as awful as possible
This film is just crow poop
The Crow City of Angels and The Crow Salvation are Masterpieces in comparison to this Hot Garbage.
@@darkmatterterraformer In the comic book Eric has long hair actually.
@@adinadamian5634 it's a glam mullet in the first few issues.
@@darkmatterterraformer Exactly.
They could have made a great film if they had race-swapped and gender-swapped the protagonist, and made her an insufferable _mary sue._
One thing else that’s out of place about this new version: The lead actor is still alive when the film released.
THIS. Everything you just said. 100% spot on!
Never understood the hype of Bill Skarsgard. Stellan, yes. Alex, maybe. But Bill is mediocre at best.
The original works so well is because eric and shelley were innocent, lovely people trying to live their lives before they were targeted. This new one has them both be scumbags, which ruins the entire premise.
And apparently Dion loved this movie (but not as much as he loves Dark Fate)
Now if this was a different characters, not Eric and Shelly. Then I guess it be, alright.
Since I don't do reboots, this was an automatic hard pass. Definitely won't bother with it on any other platform.
Why do the younger generation think that they can make classics so much better than they already are? The original was just wrote better, acted better. And there was no need in remaking it. Not saying that these actors suck, but the original was just so much better. More relatable
I don't like that short hair
I went to see the 30th anniversary of the Original The Crow in theaters recently-they actually showed the long preview for this right before it started. Can't even tell you the reaction of the audience(dead silence and then not seeing that crap out loud-some other expletives as well) This movie was DOA. It does nothing for the original story or anything new-when the best thing anyone can say is the opera house was bloody and gory-what the hell, The original had violence but for a reason not just for 'blood and gore'.
They also raceswap the crows girlfriend like in the MCU Spiderman for forced diversity and black representation
Yep, and they couldn’t even cast a competent one at that! Whoever this chick is, cannot act her way out of a wet paper bag.
@@Carnivius_Prime agreed. This movie feels so lazy because they just brought in one black person and called it "diverse".
I would have been fine with a version that was closer to the comic, but I had a feeling this wasn't going to be that.
Rest in peace, Brandon😢🐲
As an answer to this unnecessary reboot, we really need a Netflix anime-style animated series that combines James'O'Barr's original "The Crow" comic book and Brandon Lee's "The Crow" movie.
No, we don't
@@xXHashassinXx Why not?
@@glennjosechristman4612 1. The movie doesn't need a remake. 2. Have you seen what Netflix does to beloved properties? 3. The movie doesn't need a remake.
This is my fear for the Cavill led Highlander movie. I like Cavill, but I cant help but think they will once again, screw over a classic movie with a shit re-make. Hollyweird needs to STOP with the shitty re-makes and TRY and come up with some originality.
6:06 WAIT! Isn't that the plot of Iruma Kun?
Some stories should be left alone. Everything about the original & the obvious tragedy should mean the story is retired, like how they do with jersey numbers to honour players. This is Brandon Lee's story. Cashing in on it shows how little they respect anything. 🕊️
I feel like Im the only one who hated his portrayal as Pennywise.
@@MONTALVO-rf6so You're not I agree he sucked and couldn't hold a candle to Tim Curry
Yep, he was completely overrated, especially compared to Tim Curry.
@@crazyralph6386 Tim Curry didn't need CGI. :)
Should've had a Brandon Lee cameo at the end hello eric draven im eric draven
Reboots=💩 There’s literally got to be thousands of writers out there just waiting to have there story told on film. Why do these people think that we want reboots? I hard pass on any reboots.
I think a lot of people knew better to skip this movie.
pointless is the word after watching the original just now. I got to see a cam version of 2024 and its a disgrace
If you are a fan of the original, there is no way you should see this. The sequels were 10 times better than this piece of garbage. This movie is everything wrong with Hollywood today.
Yep, I wish that bloody place would just fall into the Pacific already.
I've only seen the City of Angels and thought it was bad but I'd rather watch that over this because at the very least, City of Angels tried to do something new and the grungy aesthetic was still intact.
Living in Sweden as an English man from London, i could never take a Swedish boy crow seriously.
I cannot believe they were so short on ideas for movies, they touched such a classic. I will pretend this doesn't exist
If they want to piss money away, piss it into a charity

I agree with everything u said except that Bill is in better shape than Brandon Lee. Brandon Lee was in incredible shape and an excellent martial artist in his own right. RIP Brandon Lee
You've obviously never seen my shot glasses.
Yes to all this!!!
If anything, it made the original even better. Seriously, watch it again and compare it to this abomination, and it’s a literally a masterpiece.
I have the original James O'Barr material. Why can't people just read it. And go from there. I hope this movie bombs in the worst way.
Looks more like "The Dork."
Great critique.

I gave it a chance, its not awful by any means, not great either. It was a tad to slow in my opinion and they took some of the mystery away from it by explaining it aloud. I totally understand it was for a modern audience that's new to it, but things could've been done differently. Whoever cut the trailer did a decent job.
