A note with Ral, let's say we've cast 4 instant/sorceries already, we have 2 mana floating and 2 rituals in hand. You can cast the first ritual, then in response the to Ral trigger, cast the second one as well. This will make a second Ral trigger. Now, for both Ral triggers, we will have cast 6 instant/sorcery spells so if we win either, we can flip and get 8 loyalty. If you're in a spot where you need to flip Ral, you would have effectively increased your odds from 50%, where we needed to win the second flip, to 75% since we can now win either.
really appreciate you explaining your thought process during sideboarding in this new unfamiliar meta environment, and the degree to which you're willing to experiment with different sideboarding strategies in the middle of a match. i often feel like that's the hardest part of magic and your experience and heuristics are very useful. congrats on the trophy!
I am really liking the version of this deck that runs past in flames with unstable amulet along with a bunch of ways to exile off the top and cast spells from exile until end of next turn. That version can rather easily go off on turn 2 with a lucky draw but even if it fizzles makes for a consistent turn three because you have the cards in exile to work with. Questing druid seems like a good card to try and work into that version though.
The 2 mana amulet is a substantially more powerful when running 8 reckless impulse effects since each spell from exile deals damage. Dont know if that makes it good enough, but i think the impulse effects alone are so powerful in this shell that they probably warrant slots
I just don't agree, some incremental damage from casting spells in exile isn't valuable in my eyes. I'd rather just get the additional card from the reckless impulse effects.
Finding the right 75 for this list is going to take a lot of trial and error. I do like the versions that run Past in Flames over Breach, with a ruby in play the mana is less of an issue than escape cost. I also wonder if Wish is any good
@@TheEPICStorm It definitely is when your DRC sticks around. I do like the high upside card when you're an all in archetype. Breach gives some appeal to Unstable Amulet, because it makes casting Bauble over and over an immediate win like it is in gruul prowess
If you're going to be playing Druid, would it not be better to play Goblin Anarchomancer over Ruby? They discount all the same cards, but Anarchomancer also discounts Druid. Obviously more susceptible to removal, but upside of discounted Druids?
@@TheEPICStorm I figured it would be! How do you feel about the Wish/PiF version of the deck with no Druids and Impulse/Resolve? They seem to be way more resilient and see a lot more cards
I look forward to seeing where you end up taking this as things settle down and what the "best list" ends up being. I am trying out the wish and past in flames based lists first but subbing Questing Druids for one of the other exile the top 2 cards they are running.
Thanks for becoming a member! Those are reasonable cards to play, I chose to run something that I thought had slightly less synergy but overall more powerful cards.
If you are expecting graveyard hate (and who isn't nowadays), you should be able to sideboard out your Underworld Breaches for Glimpse the Impossible, which is basically Ancestral Recall (with a Ruby Medallion and a Ral in play on your storm turn) in this deck.
once i saw a single video about ruby storm i instantly took apart my dredge storm list and built it into ruby storm 🤣. I'm gonna be running pure mono red with wish and unstable amulet but I've also noticed boros and gruul versions as well. im more leaning towards boros for the new side board options but either way.....STORMS BACK IN MODERN LETS GO!!!!! i know we had twiddle storm and lotus breach but....this just feels more fitting.
I like both builds, but you are overlooking something with amulet. It doesn't just ping from exile, it pings for casting a spell from anywhere but your hand. So it pings off of Breach casting and past in flames casting, so it isnt nearly as narrow as it seems.
I agree on amulet being cheeky but not amazing. However I much prefer the 8x reckless impulses instead of questing druid and strike it rich. Not sure about pif vs breach, they're bot fine.
I think you need to run some amount of reckless impulse/Wrenn's resolve with seek the beast, and you at least need to be running some amount of glimpse the impossible. A big problem in these games seems to be running out of steam mid storm so card draw/impulse is pretty important. Glimpse is nice because it is both impulse draw on turns you are going off and if you miss you still fill the graveyard and make blockers/mana. I am not sure if you need a full playset of breach as well but I can see the argument for refilling your hand with bauble when you are forced to topdeck late in the game which is something you can't do with past in flames.
This is what I've been playing, I like this better than this version Spike cooked up. I like Birgi better than Ral since Birgi front and back are both really good and Birgi can keep the mana flowing. RUclips doesn't like links in comments so this is the last string for a moxfield deck after the /decks/ portion of the moxfield links; zndALZMbW0-ZipNdfvryNg . Would love to see you try it out since it looks a lot closer to legacy Ruby Storm.
It's about damn time storm returns to modern, when storm stopped being part of modern thats when the modern essence died a little bit, among other factors that changed the format to be unrecognizable. Hard to believe but it seems MH3 did something right and is getting modern back on track or maybe it's just this feeling of old modern nostalgia until the meta settles, either way i think storm is here to stay and finally i can do more than just watch legacy storm videos (sadly im priced out of that format/lack of local support) and actually play storm in modern. Amulet is trash for sure now i will have to see if breach or wish is better and later on build the deck, sad i missed the cheap rals before they spiked, was focused on other decks, either way i hope you make more modern videos and im sure they will be quite successfull for you just like when you played neoform and rotpriest. There is always love for storm and looks like wizards finally remembered storm! ⚡
Ral into Ral is straight busted, but not as busted as that simic wizard. Funny how dredge is back with modern horizons. Hopefully it isn't as bad as Hoogaak season....
Auto yield will be your best friend. It will save you a million clicks. Time. Takes the focus aspect off of your mind. Just a suggestion from a worse player who uses a mouse to play modo one handed. It’s a life saver.

Not gonna lie, i definitely joined up for this video $5 well spent! Thanks for the content!!

M2:G1:T2 - Would it have been any better to have gone Pyretic/Medallion/Morphose/Ral/Seek the Beast giving us a chance to flip Ral??...🤔
Time stamp
@@TheEPICStorm 19:00
@@OilfieldSmokeEater I don’t think so, it just creates risk of medallion being destroyed or a removal spell on Ral.
@TheEPICStorm Fair enough.....You got the trophy anyways, so it can't really be said that the wrong play was made.
1:57 Don't you mean like Mind's Desire?
I was going for a modern card since this is a modern video

this is my list I'm going to be running at my local.
3 Bloodstained Mire
4 Desperate Ritual
4 Dragon's Rage Channeler
3 Glimpse the Impossible
4 Manamorphose
7 Mountain
3 Past in Flames
4 Pyretic Ritual
4 Ral, Monsoon Mage
4 Reckless Impulse
4 Ruby Medallion
3 Scalding Tarn
3 Unstable Amulet
2 Wish
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Wrenn's Resolve
SIDEBOARD:
4 Blood Moon
1 Empty the Warrens
1 Galvanic Relay
1 Grapeshot
1 Past in Flames
2 Roiling Vortex
3 Shattering Spree
1 Thassa's Oracle
1 Underworld Breach
Great list as always, I believe you had lethal in R1 G2, as soon as you surveil the grapeshot

Maybe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You don’t play MTGA? There’s Timeless which only one card is on the restricted/banned list. I want to see your awesome decks there :)
I'm just not interested
Love the list! Really excited for the possibilities with Ral
Same here
That double Ral ultimate was sweet
Should this run wish?
Should is a strong word, more like can.

No glimpse the impossible and no wrens resolve or reckless impulse? All are auto 4 ofs imo.
That's an opinion
Maybe try 1 Party Thrasher??
meh, I dont think this card is good

Like you finished the game with under 10 minutes total. Something like this will have you finishing with 15+ minutes. And that’s with talking
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
28:27 oh that’s gross!
If modern is just people running indeterminate combos against each other, it’s going to be a rough format
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Haven't kept up with modern in the last few years but this deck looks busted
nice
I love watching the bird players lose
you seem so low on card draw, breach doesnt even cast the adventure of questing druid
Yes it does
I felt bad for the elves player :(
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is a much worse version without the impulses and amulet
Tell that to my trophy
Nice 4-1
Chess clock is not a win condition. Do better, Bryant
It is on Magic Online
