If you soak the beans (at least 2 hours minimum) as if you're going to make a pot of beans, then you can use a blender to puree it to make your dough ball and it's not hard on your grinder.
Thanks for the recipe! Cool to see how you are using the bean flour. Another source of potential bean flour recipes is Korean cooking. They mix it with rice flour to make dumplings with, as well as to make all kinds of other items. I remember seeing many colors of ground bean flours in the markets while in Korea.
You should make a porridge with one part of the beans flour to activate the starch, then when it cools you add activated yeast and more beans flour that way the bread will rise...
@TheMrsVolfie I have my bread rising now..I used 1/4 bean flour that I ground first in the blender then in my coffee grinder..It is rising BEAUTIFULLY..I think I am going to buy a corn and wheat grinder..beans are easier for me to buy and store than wheat!
Have you tried cooking with this flour yet? We have this book (Great book!) and tried it some time back and useing the bean flour really seemed to mess with my families tummies bad. It gave a use pain in the stomach not gas - but stomach pain. We eat beans all the time, it is a staple in my pantry. But I was thinking that maybe the lack of "soaking" might cause tummy trouble? I would love to hear other's experiance with the bean flour. I have been hesitant to try it again.
You know, it's much easier to use canned beans. They are already cooked and can be mashed up very easily in a food processor. That's what I use for bean bread and it's very nice.
i love your video's keep up the good work. a suggestion on the bean flour. adding baking soda to boiled beans releases the gas-methane. i don't know why it wouldn't work in the bean flour bread. let me know, contreeman
@mommysetfree The MRE thing is interesting, Good to know about the flour, I was planing to try that, but I really don't want to overload my system with beans.
depends on the beans, white beans have less of a taste than darker beans, I guess it depends on your personal taste, but I haven't really noticed any off taste.
I realized you made the bread...but what I tried was their recipe for :isntant beans using the bean flour - it was a lot more beans... so that might have been why it hit us so hard. It's probably not mig deal in a mix...just curious about others. Do you know what I did just started doing last week. I started cooking and dehydrating my beans for homamde Just homemade just add water- MRE's. It is a lot of prep work ahead - but no tummy troubles with those. :-)
Making bread with beans is a great idea, do you know if theres anther name for navy beans, they look a little like what we in the UK call haricot beans? Thanks for the demo
If I were to cook the beans first, just not as long as normal for eating, would it be possible to hand grind, or use a coffee grinder to make flour? This would be much cheaper than buying an actual grinding mill.
All the grinders I found have a coating inside. That coating flakes off into the food. Do you have a grinder that dont have that shiny coat? And what is it?
anyone who can answer this would be great, I made some assorted flour (about 20 different mixed beans, lentils, rice, barley etc the other day and used it to make myself pancakes, long story short i poisoned myself and ended up in the hospital in terrible pain....so HOW do i soak beans that are already in a flour form? and how much water do i use and what bread recipe can i use soggy dough for? any advice would be great!
LOL I didn't think about the gas issue! That's funny. Maybe that'd be another benefit of cooking ahead-add a half potato when cooking, and you don't get any of the gas issues!
How badly would the beans alter the taste of a recipe? Things might not be quite the same...However, I believe the health benefits with the beans would be well worth it.
yup, there's absolutely no gluten in these beans. I know the feeling, I'm worried about gluten too! Seems gluten free will solve a lot of weight gain issues.
i literally laughed out loud when you advised not to incorporate too much bean too soon into your diet as you do not want to have too much methane gas production
you just ground up some soy beans!...... the flour from beans will not bake up like wheat flour because it has no gluten and needs different ingredients to achieve a bread like texture..why not go ahead and show HOW you made the bread from beans.. or, .are you touting grinders? what!

A coffee grinder seems to work well too. Thanks for sharing, nice to see tools like this still in use

Thanks!
soak and then cook beans for one hour first..... Dehydrate in oven then grind into powder..... comes out smoother and no gas

I go to Indian neighborhoods to get bean flour or chick pea flours. They always have fresh and very very cheap chick pea flour & also bean flour.

Can you use that in a yeast bread as well?

Do you have a recipe using cooked beans please 😊
Cool beans! I've got to get a mill.
I read a book that suggests a mixture of grain and beans to make bread. The nutrition profile is better than either grain or beans alone.

Awesome I am going to try this..thanks!
Beans don't have gluten, so the more beans, the less the bread will rise.
Straightforward ... good. And something the 10 year olds can do ... keep 'em busy when the lights go out and the electronics stop working.
Okay ... 13 year olds ... lots of hormones to tamp down ...
Have to get a chain saw to cut THAT bread.
@mommysetfree The MRE thing is interesting, Good to know about the flour, I was planing to try that, but I really don't want to overload my system with beans.
@TheMrsVolfie Yeah, so I have been told. I cannot say for sure, but I have used it to make dumplingsalso and they came out pretty good.
@mommysetfree No, but it did say to start slow, I figured I'd start with the bread and work it in.

So can you use this if you have gluten issues? Just wondering...
Yes u can
If you have a Vitamix or similar, that grinds up beans into flour really easily.
I soak them overnight then grind them in a food processor but you would have to rework any recipes calling for flour that way
I cook my beans and freeze dry them for bean flour. They come out of the freeze dryer super dry and they just fall apart into flour.

My nutri bullet have a mill blade and it made the beans into flour real fast.

I believe great northern white beans is another name for navy beans.
@@s.leemccauley7302 thank you . Now I have a jar of Lupin Beans , can't find a recipe for them , or any info LOL Might have to improvise !
Iz that bread supposed to be extremely crispy?? :)

I'm thinking of finding a way to attach a drill on the handle of my grinder to make turning the handle much less labor intensive.
What are the make and models of the two grinders? The first looks like it uses metal burrs. The second I assume uses stones.
Can i make acara with that (acaraje)?
@SasyBecause like baking veggies into sweets?
anyone who can answer this would be great, I made some assorted flour (about 20 different mixed beans, lentils, rice, barley etc the other day and used it to make myself pancakes, long story short i poisoned myself and ended up in the hospital in terrible pain....so HOW do i soak beans that are already in a flour form? and how much water do i use and what bread recipe can i use soggy dough for? any advice would be great!
Brad Sullivan just soak the flour over night and drain it and rinse again. Or..boil it up and then bake it to dry and then use the flour
LOL I didn't think about the gas issue! That's funny. Maybe that'd be another benefit of cooking ahead-add a half potato when cooking, and you don't get any of the gas issues!
Which grinders do you use? Can you post the links to them on Amazon? -If you use an affiliate link you might be a percentage of the sales
I don't have a grinder so I'm going to cook the beans first and then puree them, can't wait to see how it turns out :)
Anything that can grind coffee beans.
So Y Don't U Tell Everyone Where U got Ur Grinder
me and the boys at 4:49am looKin For BEaNs!
No watch there is no recipe on the front
Hey were you on doomsday preppers?
How badly would the beans alter the taste of a recipe? Things might not be quite the same...However, I believe the health benefits with the beans would be well worth it.
I actually like this since I am not much of a meat person... My kids are gonna hate I found another way to hide nutrients
Without soak and boil the beans? That could kill you.
yup, there's absolutely no gluten in these beans. I know the feeling, I'm worried about gluten too! Seems gluten free will solve a lot of weight gain issues.
LOL Why don't you use your el. drill/screwdriver on your mill? Costs ya zero dollars...
i literally laughed out loud when you advised not to incorporate too much bean too soon into your diet as you do not want to have too much methane gas production
Clickbait! You did NOT show how to make it.
