  • I've always had a mixed relationship with the Man of Steel but his modern incarnations give me hope for the future.

The animated movie Superman vs. The Elite addresses Superman’s optimism and world view very directly (sorry if you’ve already seen it.)
This is an interesting, worthwhile video essay…earned my sub.

You just unlocked a memory for me! I have seen that movie but its been a while and a lot of the details are fuzzy. Will give it a rewatch.

      @@aurum8276 ,
I hope it gives you enough stimulation to mention it in one of your future videos; given how much thought you put into this topic generally, I’d enjoy hearing what you have to say about that film’s particular approach.

You should watch Superman & Lois. He has to raise 2 sons and one season Lois has cancer.

Superman is about humanity in any levels of relationships, from saving a cat to fighting against gods. But he saves people's with his heart.

I have seen people use the Phrase " Absolute power corrupts absolutely" but does it really tho? Superman proved it wrong, Absolute power doesn't corrupt people, their weakness does, their weakness of being unable to control the lust for being a superior being. Superman was meant to be a man who could show the best of humanity which he did and still does even though he goes through the same problems as us but on a grander scale, My love for Superman came when I was going through immense depression and suicidal thoughts but This wonderful character helped me overcome it, I learned how to push through the worst.

That's why I think Superman should be damn near incorruptible maybe susceptible but able to OVERCOME it, and I think him doing that would prove you're point exactly

I agree with the Saturday morning cartoon thing on maws
Ever since the first season up to now with the second a tradition I hold is pouring my cereal and watching the newest episode every Saturday morning bringing me back to when Cartoon Network used to be good
I honestly felt like I was watching the origins of the young justice superman

“He’s never faced issues that he couldn’t deal with by punching it” Are you reading the right Superman books? Because there’s tons of stories where Superman uses his brains to fix or he uses his ability to understand human emotions

Superman is all bout choices and consequences. He knows that he’s powerful and that he can do whatever he wants with the power he has but he doesn’t. Because he’s just a good man with powers. He may be an alien but he’s more human than anyone. Even Lex.

I love a Superman who is almost all poweful but also has his story focusing on Clark Kent, THE MAN, his earthly life especially at the planet and hia lofe with Lois, and his mental struggles with notnbeing able to save everyone, and brinf Supwrman bringing him back to what he is: the hero od hope.

Smallville is also a Great watch! Gets kinda dragged out by the end but it shows Clarks upbringing in a cool way and develops Lex Luthor I dare say into the best version of the character… Of course it’s not perfect and we never actually get to see him be a suited up Superman but it imo is really good and worth the watch

superman in my adventures with superman seems a bit too cheery. also seems a bit too green but he is literally just becoming superman so i can excuse it
also, pondering that name, is lois the main protagonist? because it would be weird for my in "my adventerues with superman" to be superman himself. or does my refer to us the watchers?

Batman is the attainable, but is also symptomatic of an unjust, violent, and unfair world. Batman is a creation of a criminal world - a creation of mindless, selfish greed and crime, of a random act of crime that cost a young boy his parents, his childhood, and his innocence. You CAN become Batman, but it's probably not all that mentally healthy to do so.
Superman is the unattainable, but also the inspirational - it's not about being bulletproof, but about being, simply, good. About giving a damn about other people, about being selfless and honest and hopeful. About seeing a sunrise on another day, and rather than thinking about how much money you'll make, about what you'll do for others, what sorts of people you'll meet, what kind of experiences you'll share. You CAN'T be Superman, but you can always be a little bit of Clark Kent.
