英検一級取りましたけど、もうかなり前ですねー。でも出てくる単語はやってるうちに満点に近づいて行きますけど会話では使うと通じなかったり変な顔されるだけです。。Timeとか読む時に役に立つので無駄ではないですけどねー
英検の長文って科学、政治、歴史とか多いけど、自分が知ってる分野だと問題文読まなくても答え分かるのまじである❤

In Japanese side there are also difficult words Kanji, idioms and 四文字熟語 etc. so it’s not surprising that native speakers don’t understand English words.
書いてある内容は理解してても ワードがが分からん出て来ないもどかしさ 分かるw
That English test is very tough indeed. I’m not a native speaker but I used English to present and write research papers. Those vocabs in the answers are crazy tough, I’ve never heard of most of them lol.
It’s kind of cool that they can put other subjects in the test but at the same time they’re also English

Omg yes! I remember helping my friend when he was studying with his eiken as well. He took eiken 2 though, not sure about 1. Even in the eiken 2 some were a little tricky!

ずっと日本で英語勉強したら筆記強くなって会話が落ちる
海外は日本語では生きていけないから会話は伸びる筆記はやる気次第

文盲という人が世界中でいるほど。文字すら持ってない民族だっていたしね。でも文字だけ読めて話せないという民族は皆無。
This is why a lot of the standardized English proficiency tests are pointless for gauging actual conversational ability. Even the ESL test takers that score highly on them aren't able to conversate because it doesn't focus on building real world skills.

私はメルさんと同じくイギリス出身で英検も一級持っていますが、しっかり勉強しても満点を取れなかったです。
Its funny how these test makers expect people who are learning the language as a second language are somehow supposed to be better at it then natives. Like bruh serisouly, what is hegemony!

単語の形分からなくても外国行けると言う証拠に
Chairperson (chairman, chairwoman) is not a CEO or something like it, it's a person that is a presiding officer of a meeting, organization, committee, or event.
Salient in that line, I don't think that would be the best English. But adding the other 3 options I guess it might be the better fitting one at least (salient could be translated as 'standing out conspicuously' as one of the terms)
And that should be levity, the other 3 are new to me.
Flowers one should be answer 3, wilted.
I am from the Netherlands and I did a better job on this test then you. To add insult to injury so to speak, I learned English by watching TV with subtitles and getting on chat channels. But if it helps you, Americans butcher English far worse then you can imagine haha.
For Shogo, might be wise to study English so you can read it as well as understand it. With a British lady next to you that might be a very wise decision to make. Specially in case you might be traveling alone to England at some point and need to get to her mom's house for example. Also would help with comments on youtube. For your test, 7/25 isn't actually that bad for someone that didn't learn English well enough. I think you can be proud of that one Shogo!
