My favourite Wes Anderson film to date. I love how the visuals reflect Zero's narrative, since we're viewing the entire film through the memory of Zero and other characters, so not exactly how they happened, but how they were experienced.

All of Wes Anderson's latest movies have had a humongous cast, like this one.

The Paddington movies definitely took some influence from this, which is why I love them so much.

5:30 (TW: I'm a Film Person) Believe it or not, this has a thematic purpose! One of the movie's underlying themes is the takeover of facism/Nazism in 1930s Europe. Several of the characters can be interpreted as stand-ins for groups who were especially targeted by facism: Monsieur Gustave represents queer people, Deputy Kovacs represents Jewish people, Zero represents immigrants/refugees of color, Serge X represents the French who were subjugated during the German occupation, and Serge's sister, who has a prosthetic foot, represents disabled people.

I think you’re drilling in too deep to it, there is obviously the parallels to fascism and Nazi invasion of Poland but I don’t think characters are intentionally laid out to represent people who were persecuted (unless you can show me where Wes has said this).
Also I don’t think Gustave is queer/gay/whatever I just think he is a little bit camp, it’s well established that he is a GILF hunter

I’ve met the person who created the design props for this film. The attention to detail is insane. The calendar was a mistake even Wes missed. She’s love that 158,000 people got that pointed out lol

Watching a Wes Anderson film is like playing a Halo Campaign on Legendary.
Your self-confidence is obliterated within the first 30 seconds.
