Your accent depends on who teaches you that language if you're learning it as your main language growing up. She was homeschooled and was taught English by her parents. If she learned English either as an adult or learned English from African teachers who had an accent, then she would have an accent.
You've already pretty much mastered your native language at age 5. Your accent depends on your parents. She might be fluent in Swahili, but speak it with an American accent.
22:14 I'd like to mention that even though I don't know someone that was hit by a bus I do know someone that was hit by a car and through physical therapy they were able to make a full recovery in 8 months so its not outlandish to assume that Regina George, a junior was able to make a well-enough recovery to play lacrosse in 9 months for a school team.
You know what would've been an interesting twist? If the plastics were actually really nice and friendly, and the unpopular kids were just being super bitter and unkind because they resented the kids who were more popular. I've seen that IRL and no fiction has ever really mentioned it.

hi!! just to clear one thing up as a former resident, "e-town" is a nickname for evanston, the town that "northshore high scool" (fake high school obviously) was set in. cady mentions evanston in her "eating the lunch in the bathroom" scene. the entire movie was set in evanston, part of northshore since thats where northwestern, the college they moved to illinois for, is located in.
Fun fact: Lindsay Lohan was supposed to play Regina George and Rachel McAdams was supposed to play Cady. But Tina Fey thought it would be better if they switched roles.
Yeah and Amanda auditioned for Regina. Paramount wanted Lindsay to be Cady and it was noted that Rachel was the only actress auditioning for Regina who could genuinely intimidate Lindsay, being older and an established actress.
Are we not going to comment on how clean the bathrooms are at that school? Holy shit, those bathrooms in that movie were so clean you could do neurosurgery or run lab tests in them. The bathrooms at my school were so dirty and smelled so much like tobacco smoke that I was legit scared to set foot in the stalls because I was afraid of what horrors lurked inside. And no way would I ever eat lunch in them no matter how desperate I was.
I had the misfortune of dating someone in high school who decided to take a shit in the men's bathroom in a spot other than the toilet bowl, if memory serves he took a lunch tray and shit on that, or something close to that, in the bathroom. He ended up cheating on me while I was visiting my grandpa in the hospital, didn't find out until I went back to school. What is really strange though is how he attempted to get ahold of me on Facebook a year ago or so, and its crazy how much he has aged. I never responded back to him. He must think I am naïve.
You left out the biggest discrepancy to me. Regina says "I found this Burn Book. Only three girls in the whole school aren't in it." First of all, how are they able to write about 500 girls in the whole school? Do they know every student, including in other grades? Is the Burn Book 500 pages long? The three girls not in the book are Regina's three former friends that all the teachers and staff know about. One of the girls says, "Regina is trying to make it look like we did it," which the principal says couldn't be the case because she's in the book. Which is, yeah, how she's trying to make it look like they did it. Also, he acts like Regina couldn't have done that and then the teachers all admit they have been "personally victimized" by Regina George so they know her true character.
Taylor being at the party could easily be explained by her either sneaking out or lying to mom claiming she’s at the library and her moms didn’t think to check
This movie deserved at least a couple more sins off but I respect you so much for not taking off sins for every little thing that became a meme or pop culture symbols like: Glenn Coco, or she doesn’t even go here, or Jingle Bell Rock and acknowledging that yes in fact even this movie (which I and many other people love) isn’t in fact without sin.
Glen Coco was an actor who auditioned for the movie and didn't get in. But he just turned up on set one day to try his luck and the director admired his gall and said he'd cast him in a scene.
No sins off for the “and none for Gretchen Weiners bye!” Or “she doesn’t even go here!” For shame! Good for you for taking off sins for Tim Meadow’s performance though. That “I will keep you here till 4.” line always makes me smile.

My HS had over 4000 students and we all had the same lunch schedule. We just didn't have a cafeteria. We spread out across the school campus, each "group" having designated areas rather than a table. There were a couple "lunch areas" that had tables and seats but the school was built for 800 kids so...
K as someone who used to work at the mall the watering hole scene was filmed (and the teachers side job)... This is borderline accurate behaviour for Sherway Gardens 😅🤣
It should add another sin the fact that when they are doing the Christmas dance and Gretchen being a few feet away from the record player but still somehow manages to kick it. Also should’ve been more sins when Damian said “they do this dance every year” but they’re only in second year, meaning they have done that dance only once in first year, unless they did the dance in middle school but I doubt it lol
From someone with severe emetophobia, I’m glad they didn’t show any visible vomit. When movies do that, it’s horrible. Also yes. The sprinklers react to heat. Not the alarm.

Regarding the James Bond line of succession, "III" need not mean he's the first James Bond's grandson. Napoleon III was the *nephew* of Napoleon I & the cousin of Napoleon II. In six months, you're gonna be sinning the Ridley Napoleon movie; you need to know these things!
I perceive room for a legacy sequel where it's revelated that Cady unintentionally made the crown into a Horcrux and next she needs to recover each piece and reassemble so her soul can transcend wholly to the afterlife.
My high school had a notoriously small cafeteria and many kids had to sit in the hall eating on the floor because there weren't enough tables. And most of this is because the cliquey kids ensured that they sat at the tables, so the non-cliquey kids had to sit in the hall.
What right did they have to not let you sit with them if there were free seats at their tables? Why didn’t anyone tell on them? It’s unfair! They are not the center of the world, they have to get used to the fact that they’re not the only ones who deserve to sit at the cafeteria
"E-town" is short for Evanston Township High School, the actual public high school in Evanston. I'm glad they sneaked that into the fictional Northshore High School set design! The sports teams are the Wildkits, though, not the Lions.
Lindsay Lohan was fantastic in this movie. It's a shame that she burned out later on, though thankfully is married with a baby boy, and appears to be thriving now. 💙👶
She was yet another Hollywood person who got famous way too young and let the partying get to her because she hadn’t had any consequences in her life before. It does seem she’s doing well now, it would be kinda cool to see her do some more serious roles. I could see her making a comeback in those kind of roles.
There is such a thing as a dual VHS & DVD player. My dad had one and after he retired he spent time converting all the home videos he made from VHS to DVDs. He converted a lot of movies from VHS to DVD also.
In regards to the 12 sins about hollywoods stereotypes, in this case a research zoologist would be out in the wild with the animals rather than in the city
I've posed the same question several times about James Bond Jr., and have never gotten a satisfactory response. But, I loved that show and that theme song.

The cafeteria size is accurate for a school. I teach high school math. Our cafeteria can't accommodate half the student body, and that includes the outside seating. Many students eat in classrooms with teachers, on the grassy area, on the tennis court, on the baseball field, and in the halls.
14:34 there's a deleted scene that explains this, and should have been left in, cady used dental floss to make the scale Regina was using always weigh up to 110lbs
no one ate in there. most people could find a stairwell or a cool teachers classroom to hang in. most we did in the bath room was smoke and there was no one eating food when we arrived.
As someone who had no friends for a year in high school, I ate lunch in the bathroom. You weren't allowed to be inside the hallways or classrooms during lunch, and if you sat alone in the cafeteria, you'd be ridiculed and bullied. So bathroom it was.
I did a couple of times and I know some of my friends did. It wasn't "oh no there's no seats left" though, it was "I'm about to have a full on breakdown and don't want anyone to see me but I'm also not skipping lunch"
When I was in college I met a white girl from Kenya who didn't have an accent because she was educated at a private school where everyone spoke English. The main character not having an accent isn't as unrealistic as you think it is.
my mom and I watched this once (because I was 16 and Lindsay Lohan had boobs, and that one girl looked like somebody I knew) and about the start of the third act my mom said "yea, this movie was clearly written by a woman" I asked "well how can you tell?" she said "its VERY accurate"

I graduated from a high school with 2500 students. We all had lunch at the same time - we just didn't all eat in the cafeteria, so that could be a possibility at North shore (also im going to see the musical again this week and im SOO excited 💕)
I went to a high school with under 250 students where most people who are at school (lots went out or home) sat in the hall as there was not nearly enough room in the cafeteria.
As a teacher, I can sin a lot in this movie but Norbury having exercises for the situation is pretty accurate. We go through a lot of different trainings every year so it's not uncommon for at least one teacher in the school to have experience/certification with various situations and be put in charge of a situation like that. It might not be a huge likelihood that she's the one but still.

The biggest "problem" is they never elaborate on WHERE in Africa is she from.
@@kendall7086 at least in the musical they say she is from kenya
Tbh it just happens sometimes. I was born and raised in the caribbean and have an American accent
This movie is seriously so good. It was my favorite movie to watch my junior year.
You know what would've been an interesting twist? If the plastics were actually really nice and friendly, and the unpopular kids were just being super bitter and unkind because they resented the kids who were more popular. I've seen that IRL and no fiction has ever really mentioned it.
I mean the film kinda did this by having Janis being mean
Buffy the Vampire Slayer kind of did this with the invisible girl episode.
@@nothingtoseehere2336but Cordy and her friends were straight up mean though.
@@Tesko91yep, she only toned it down a tiny bit while dating Sander
@@Tesko91 Oh yes, agreed, that's why I said "kind of", but it did also peel back the mask of popularity to reveal the lonely, vulnerable girl underneath, which allows you to understand and emphasize with Cordelia more, even if you don't agree with her actions.
3:30 ... I was first thinking, yeah, the same cliques tended to sit in the same places at my school the whole time I was there, and in middle school. I think high school had 3 lunch shifts, but everyone tended to sit in the same place year to year. Basically just actually small enough for things to stay so much the same.
hi!! just to clear one thing up as a former resident, "e-town" is a nickname for evanston, the town that "northshore high scool" (fake high school obviously) was set in. cady mentions evanston in her "eating the lunch in the bathroom" scene. the entire movie was set in evanston, part of northshore since thats where northwestern, the college they moved to illinois for, is located in.
Fun fact: Lindsay Lohan was supposed to play Regina George and Rachel McAdams was supposed to play Cady. But Tina Fey thought it would be better if they switched roles.
Lindsay Lohan WANTED to play Regina and Rachel auditioned for Cady. But neither was "supposed to play."
@@johnsmi213i don't know why tina fey got dragged into that comment either
But then they were getting on her last nerve!
@@emusaurusshe wrote the script
"How many pieces can you make from this crown?"
"The limit does not exist"😂
I'm giving Cinema Sins 15 additional sins for the failure to use Karen's mouse-ear-fueled "Duh!" for the spoiler warning at the beginning.
"I will keep you here until 4pm" is definitely worthy of a sin off though.
Glen Coco was an actor who auditioned for the movie and didn't get in. But he just turned up on set one day to try his luck and the director admired his gall and said he'd cast him in a scene.
9:17 It’s explained that Janis also did this dance with them in 8th grade😭
As a 27 year old black man from the Bronx, this is one of my top 10 favorite movies
You have excellent taste in movies
You are a man of culture
No sins off for the “and none for Gretchen Weiners bye!” Or “she doesn’t even go here!” For shame!
Good for you for taking off sins for Tim Meadow’s performance though. That “I will keep you here till 4.” line always makes me smile.
The 12 sins for Africa warmed my heart. CAPE TOWN IN THIS BIH
0:30 She said her parents were research zoologists, so they would be out in the bush areas. Or do you think they’d be researching animals in Nairobi, Kinshasa, or Pretoria?
THANK YOU 😂😂
I came to the comments to write this! Why would they go to the cities to research wild animals…?
Yeah but African we dont wear traditional attires and spears all the time i think that’s the stereotype he’s showing… we wear normal clothes but they decided to show someone in traditional attire taking pics next to them in the wild
Kevin didnt find out Janice was Lebanese until the end because he assumed she was Puerto Rican. Which is why he was initially attracted to her and made the comment at the talent show.😊
How do you not take off a sin for..." Oh hell nah, I DID NOT leave the South side for this!' LOL
I love that line
I’m glad you finally did this movie just so we can see how much of it you secretly can’t help but love too.
Slept on "Swim team practice will be held in the projection room above the auditorium"
" And I want my pink shirt back!!!" 😂👚💗
It should add another sin the fact that when they are doing the Christmas dance and Gretchen being a few feet away from the record player but still somehow manages to kick it.

The cesar speech by gretchen is such good writing.
"11 years went by and you never saw another person you liked?"
Me, 18, who had my only crush when I was 5
Regarding the James Bond line of succession, "III" need not mean he's the first James Bond's grandson. Napoleon III was the *nephew* of Napoleon I & the cousin of Napoleon II.
In six months, you're gonna be sinning the Ridley Napoleon movie; you need to know these things!
A well placed Homer Simpson yelling 'nerd' gets me every time 😂😂
You definitely should have removed a sin for that transition between the “stab Ceaser” scene and the next bc it was immaculate
Maybe the most unbelievable part of the movie is all the girls cooperating during the "healing" scene. Movie has never high schooled before.
As a former bullied kid, this irritated me to no end and initially made this movie only a 4/5 for me.
I perceive room for a legacy sequel where it's revelated that Cady unintentionally made the crown into a Horcrux and next she needs to recover each piece and reassemble so her soul can transcend wholly to the afterlife.
You forgot Cady’s test that was a 54 was a D when American grading scales rank anything below 60% an F not a D
Gretchen speaking Vietnamese awakened so much in me.
"How dare you sin this masterpiece." I say while happily clicking on the video excited to hear what they have to say.
Loved the "Mrs. Norbury parks K.I.T.T. like a real asshole". 😂
6:53. That line from Amy with her one of a kind delivery deserves a 2nd Sin off. 😊 Love her!
That was nice
In regards to the 12 sins about hollywoods stereotypes, in this case a research zoologist would be out in the wild with the animals rather than in the city
Jeremy just wanted to call a movie racist cliche
I've posed the same question several times about James Bond Jr., and have never gotten a satisfactory response. But, I loved that show and that theme song.
@1:21 Silicone is on the board instead of Silicon because they're referencing The Plastics... remove the sin and remove another sin for the genius and give that sin to CinemaSins instead 😂
Also, I'm just now making the connection that Cady is just Eliza Thornberry 😅
“Cuz i’ma pusher, I push ppl” …😂I use that line all the time 😂
YOU HAVE NO IDEAD! HOW LONG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO DO THIS MOVIE! THANK YOUUUUU!
I have a Christmas T-Shirt that says, "You Go Glen Coco".
I've always wondered that. Did anyone actually eat lunch in the bathroom stall? I don't feel it's a real thing but Hollywood keeps showing it.
no one ate in there. most people could find a stairwell or a cool teachers classroom to hang in. most we did in the bath room was smoke and there was no one eating food when we arrived.
I saw some people eat in one of the bathrooms, not in the cubicle, but on the windowsill
I was in 9th grade when this movie came out, and everyone in school loved it and kept quoting the movie.
When I was in college I met a white girl from Kenya who didn't have an accent because she was educated at a private school where everyone spoke English. The main character not having an accent isn't as unrealistic as you think it is.
This channel doesn't care about logic.
But she didn't go to private school
She would have to be exclusively exposed to only English speakers with American accents which doesn't seem very likely.
you missed the part where she said "research zoologists" which mostly explains why they were in a desert
This movie is hilarious! So many good quotes! "You can't sit with us!!!"
Holy crap, Cinemasins sining one of my all time favorite movies, what a treat 😍
i’m surprised you didn’t comment about rachel mcadams staring right at the camera after saying “that is the ugliest ‘effing skirt i’ve ever seen” 9:28
my mom and I watched this once (because I was 16 and Lindsay Lohan had boobs, and that one girl looked like somebody I knew) and about the start of the third act my mom said "yea, this movie was clearly written by a woman" I asked "well how can you tell?" she said "its VERY accurate"
I was surprised they haven't sinned this movie yet! Could've sworn they did, but I guess not. It will always remain an iconic movie that has so many great lines!!! ❤❤❤
My high school band teacher did the same christmas song during their christmas concert every year, and I'm pretty sure they still do, at least until he retired
I graduated from a high school with 2500 students. We all had lunch at the same time - we just didn't all eat in the cafeteria, so that could be a possibility at North shore
(also im going to see the musical again this week and im SOO excited 💕)
I went to a high school with under 250 students where most people who are at school (lots went out or home) sat in the hall as there was not nearly enough room in the cafeteria.
As a teacher, I can sin a lot in this movie but Norbury having exercises for the situation is pretty accurate. We go through a lot of different trainings every year so it's not uncommon for at least one teacher in the school to have experience/certification with various situations and be put in charge of a situation like that. It might not be a huge likelihood that she's the one but still.
I played football with the guy who says he's voting for Regina because she got hit by a bus. Met him in training camp, for some reason Mean Girls was playing in the plane on the way to the first game 😂

7:09 I have to agree. Kevin is clearly the coolest kid in school that I totally would’ve hung out with as a teen. It’s crazy he can’t meet girls in this film
