It's like 2012 youtube before all bike reviews went high end bikes only. Well done, tip of the cap.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the support!🧡
I love this First Impressions take on a 2nd hand bike. Can't wait to follow the process from first impressions to finished product.
Thanks Ben, been a busy week but more Cannondale content on the way soon! 🧡⚙️
Smashing bike👍 rescued a 2014 Giant Defy and built it back up bolt for bolt by watching your videos👍 Looking forward to the upgrade video for more good tips
Wow that’s great to hear. Enjoy your work and riding! Upgrades coming soon🧡
I have been subscribed for only a few weeks and have your channel on all the time! Great job keep the vlogs coming. Looking forward to the journey and seeing what upgrades you guys do to this bike. Just bought my first road bike, a boardman x3 aisl from 2011. Only paid £200! Had it serviced £80 and wheels straightened as they were buckled. I have done 150km on it. Keep toying with upgrades but after my service the bike engineer said he’d not change anything.
Enjoy it. Wait for upgrades if you do chose to go that way. You’ll learn exactly what you need!🧡⚙️
I absolutely love your videos. I love all the way in the US and wish I could send you my bike for a service however I’ll just keep learning from your tips and using your teachings to get by with my repairs, upgrades and services. Keep up the good work!!
Great to hear! Thanks for all your support!🧡
Great to see you smiling out in the sunshine Lee. Cracking content and excited to see how this little cannodale progresses in the coming weeks. Keep it coming and we'll done both of you 🎉
Back tonight and then more cannondale content possibly next week🧡
Get stuck in mate that bike will cane the weight off. Saved myself in a similar fashion, got a CAAD 8 and a specialized Tricross, aged 54 and a 32 waist and falling. Respect.
Well done! I hope to get there 🧡
I have only subscribed for about 3 weeks, coincidentally i have a cannondale synapse 9 or 10 years old and it needs parts replacing, so this has given me the nudge to ring you soon ! great vlogs .
Glad you enjoy the cannondale content!🧡⚙️
Oh man. Personally i don't watch these vids for long, more into the bike restorations, but I am SO PLEASED for you that you're back into cycling again. AMAZING. Congratulations 💪
We’re hoping to merge the two with each blog being half a work shop video half a test ride. Thanks for the support!🧡
@@Bikespeeds Very much looking forward to that what a grand idea.
Great video. I’m almost tempted to get on my road bike! Thanks for the inspiration 😊
Best of luck enjoy! 🧡⚙️
A nice set of NTN bearings into the BB would be a good upgrade. Veloflex tyres on Campy Zondas would up the performance of the Synapse considerably.
Really enjoying these ride vids, looking forward to seeing you fettle the bike to your preferences. Nice looking C.annoondale
Been a busy few weeks on tonight’s video but hopefully gonna start filming some content on the cannondale this next week🧡
Keep rolling brother great scenery 😎
Wow what a lovely area to cycle, was great to see you out on the bike love watching your videos they are awesome.
Hi Michael, thanks for the support! 🧡⚙️
Amazing bike can’t wait to see the build finished but always great to watch a bike speeds video.
It’s going to be a long process but hopefully that’s the enjoyable aspect. Thanks for your support!🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds I enjoy every bit of the videos even if you miss a week
The smile on your face at 12:32 - magic. Great to see. If you were to organise a group ride when you feel able, I'd def make the trip to join. Stick in Lee 👊
That’s interesting to hear, we’d love to one day so something like that!🧡
In 2021 I bought a 2009 Synapse for $450. Terrific bike...still my go to bike. Thanks for great video and review.
Enjoy it, thanks for your support! 🧡⚙️
I have an aluminum Cannonade Synapse from the same era as Lee's. If Ohio were a little closer to his shop, I would take it in for an overhaul! Look forward to seeing the upgrades Lee makes to his. I have learned so much from this channel. Thanks, Lee & team.
More content coming soon! Been a busy few weeks so no videos 🧡⚙️
Nice looking bike, can't wait for the upgrade video.
We’re going to try do one a week or so, a half service video half vlog review of it!🧡
Bikes like these, a new set of good tyres and a full service and they just work beautifully. The " base model" groupsets are set it and forget it. Glad you're getting out pal, will be good to see you upgrade and fit the bike to your liking.
That’s been my experience so far! Very reliable 🧡
Super stuff. Great riding once again. Can't beat a synapse for riding quality 😊
Thanks Adam, I am liking it so far! 🧡⚙️
Chapeau to you on your road to full fitness & health 👍
🧡🧡⚙️
We want to see a video with the complete process of the upgrade for this bike! ❤❤❤
It’s starting tomorrow!🧡
That’s a lovely bike and at a good price. I bought a 2017 Giant Defy on Marketplace last year for £600 as the owner bought it and did less than £1000 miles on it. In perfect condition just needed some simple fixes as it had been left unused in a garage for 4 years. I love it.. it’s perfect for my riding a style. Look forward to the service video.
Enjoy the Defy Hitch, thanks for the support 🧡⚙️
I like the vlog style videos. 👍
Thanks Tony, glad to hear it? 🧡
Great idea to upgrade the second hand bike, keeping it real for the ordinary cyclist unlike so many other channels! Also it’s great to see your fitness coming back, you’ve definitely been bitten by the bug again.
Thanks for the support Andrew 🧡⚙️
This is excellent content buddy and really shows that you don’t need the latest bikes and to spend thousands.. older bikes are just as good if not better in some ways.. my bikes are steel, Campagnolo group with rim brakes, tubes etc all excellent made by Condor, Genesis.. top work dude your looking and sounding fitter already.. look forward to see what you do next.. great to see you riding to 😊 Pete 🚴🏻🚴🏻👍💪💕
Thanks for all the kind words Pete! Enjoy the Condor sounds mega! 🧡⚙️
I enjoy riding my 2917 hybrid bike with v brakes . I hope you have an excellent experience with the Cannondale enjoy your rides
Hi Matthew, enjoy your riding and thanks for the support 🧡⚙️
Nice one Lee and Simon………..showing what it’s all about ! 😇Buy a decent used bike at sensible money and tweak it for personal upgrade. So much more to show on this topic ………. You have a potential mini series here from how to size properly, what to look for, basic checks, what to avoid, first upgrades. Looking after newer riders……… sometimes the old ways are the best, chapeau👍
The mini series is officially underway!🧡
Bad shoulders and going back to old positions for former older cyclists a big one shockwave therapy gun helped me a lot
Good to know, thanks for the support🧡⚙️
you look great! lovely riding and countryside. love my caad 10. got in just b4 NOT made in USA.
Thanks Phillip, enjoy your riding! 🧡⚙️
More brilliant stuff Lee! Talking to us real cyclists! Keep it up mate!
Thanks for all the continued support! We’re back tonight 🧡
Nice 👌 I have a 2015 Synapse Hi Mod with ultegra 11 speed and it’s a beaut! Comfy and fast enough for a 58 yr old. Looking forward to seeing how you mod this one
Enjoy it! More content coming soon🧡⚙️
Rim brakes is good enough for me. Take out the wide bar, put on the wheeltop wireless groupset + 11 speed(enough)
1x maybe.
I be all set
Hips seem to be rocking alright
Lovely bike, saw that on FB market place, I'm only a pleasure/fitness cyclist, 10 miles or so every other day so couldn't justify £500.
I have a 2014 Edinbugrh Cycle Co-op Revolution Courier Hybrid.
Love riding Somerleyton, Hopton, Corton. Browston etc.
I always avoid the A143 (except for the cycle paths in Bradwell). At 65 I'm too young to die! 😉
Have been binge watching your previous renovation videos, I've used Autoglym Resin Polish on cars for donkeys years, never thought to use it on my bike, I do now!
Thanks for all the support and enjoy your local riding!🧡
175mm cranks are usually on road bikes 58cm frame size & above 😳
Glad to see you're cycling again! I had one of these Synapses for a bit. Good that you're changing out the crank. 172.5mm sounds way way too unoptimal for the frame size. You're probably more suited to a 165mm or 160mm crank length. The new 12 speed Shimano R7100 cranks are pretty fairly priced for the 160mm at the moment. I reckon you'd also be better off with a 38cm width drop bar as well - your arms look way too widely stretched apart in some of the segments.
They’re my exact planned specs🧡
Nice ride on a nice bike. It needs some white bartape😊👍🏻👍🏻
We were undecided, white always gets mucky but white is certainly better for the bike! 🧡
Your opinion of this bike was really interesting.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it🧡⚙️
Wow nice cannondale road bike 🚴🏼♂️ cool 👌
More Cannondale content, coming soon. Vintage video tonight or tomorrow! 🧡⚙️
I watched this with much interest and will follow its progress, a year ago I bought the same vintage same colour scheme 54cm CAA8 with tiagra for $A 450 in perfect little used condition, I too feel the bars are a bit wide as I had been used to the narrower bars on my late 90s steel on which I have upgraded everything and is where I feel most at home. Maybe with your work on the synapse I may be able to feel more at home on the CAAD8
Sounds like a nice bike, thanks for supporting! 🧡⚙️
excellent ride. You looked to be going at a decent speed there. 👍
Felt faster than my last few rides!🧡
Fair play keep it up 👍
Thank you thank you!🧡⚙️
please make a video about the maintenance and repairs that this bike needs
It is on the way, looking like next Wednesday 🧡
Been a while(Life...), hope you are well. Plenty of your videos to catch up for me.
Enjoy them!🧡⚙️
I recently purchased a as new specialized allez for £300 . Claris 8-speed and rim brakes are fine for me as is the light weight. I plan to try some CST CITO tyres on it as I've heard good reviews about them and should make the bike even lighter
That’s a great bargain!🧡
Helmet camera: point a little farther up, get more of the road ahead instead of handlebars and hands, making me car-sick 😂
Appreciate all the video angles. But please be careful cycling w so many rods sticking out holding cameras. I worried some errand drivers hit into U.
Hello :)
I am writing to you or of our frustration! Nothing to do with you and what you do; I find your channel very very informative and I enjoy the content.
My issue is to do with finding out where to look on the internet for torque settings for any particular bike.
You always say to torque everything up to manufacturers recommendations.
I have bought and am completely restoring a KONA PRECEPT 200 DH full suspension bike
But I cannot find any torque specs for that bike.
I am referring to the pivot bolts in particular.
Can you give me some idea as to where I need to be looking to get the correct settings?
I am looking but not finding anything, and am becoming exasperated to say the least.
Any help/advice from you would be so much appreciated
Thanking you in advance
Kirk
I got my bike a year ago, very similar spec but it’s a trek Madone (I think 2.1), I’d like to upgrade if I can but it’s a good bike nonetheless and has let me put in some good mileage.
Those are the best bikes! Easy to run and easy to ride 🧡
175mm cranks amd 44cm bars ona 48cm frame. I get that some touch points on the bike will eventually get changed out to make the bike more bespoke but those numbers are obscenely outrageous.
The Crank and handle bar spec seems way off even for the era. But a lovely bike for running about on. 105 is hard to beat
may i recommend you a 360 type camera, more versatile for cycling videos.
From a neighbour, I just picked up a Trek Madone 5.1 2010 model in near perfect condition for $500 Canadian.
Lot of bargains to be had at the moment 🧡⚙️
Hey bikespeed ...big fan and subscriber from Bakersfield California..
What is the best chain lube you recommend
We recommend 365 chain lube available on www.bikespeeds.com/shop 🧡⚙️
Just out of interest, how tall are you to ride a 48” frame? Great video once again, thanks!!
5’2🧡⚙️
Good stuff. Crazy that now one can find a fantastic rim brake fairly top end bike for under €1,000…..sold by someone, convinced by the bike industry that they really need to spend €4-7,000 on a new disc brake, ugly, soulless, heavy race bike…then get rid of their perfectly good rim brake bike for pennies!
I agree! People are buying bikes far better than they can ride!🧡
Nice keep it simple
Thanks John! 🧡⚙️
Dude.... Got to be honest subscribed but not watched much as you well know I'm not mechanically minded plus I've not rode for several years as well... But just watched the latest and loved it, like this style of blog... Just don't inspire me again as that lead to many years of being fit and healthy ( and a lot more skinter).. Nice job
Lol 🧡⚙️
Strange the camera angle makes it look as if your seat is too low your legs seem not to be fully extending.
The fisheye effect does do that!🧡⚙️
For 500 quid, this is a fantastic bike.
I completely agree 🧡
nice bike for the money that one.
Smitten with it so far!🧡
Guesses on the groupset upgrade?
Nothing super exciting or imaginative but a good upgrade!🧡
@@Bikespeeds Campagnolo / Sram? A different mechanical Shimano groupset might not be much different than the existing 105 groupset
My son had this bike and it was a good un - til it got nicked in France!
I had a Cannondale bad boy 2014 model stolen you never forget about a stolen bike I ended up getting an endurance bike but I never felt connected to it like that one that was stolen to bad .
What a shame!🧡
Very very first
Thank you Karlos! Good to see you back🧡⚙️
If don't mind me asking how tall are you?
5’2🧡⚙️
44s and 175s on a 48cm frame is a bizarre set up.
Yes it is!🧡
Jeez there's a lot of armchair experts in the comments today! That's going to test your patience.
Lol we’re getting used to it now but everyone seems to think they know better!🧡
175cm cranks?? Did you mean 165?
