Another thing to add on the marriage aspect is that lot of couples don't even get married, they just live together and make their lives together without getting married.

The thing in Europe is, that once you're an adult you'd never really ask your parents if you're allowed to go on a trip, you'd just do it - and like the girl said, you'd tell them who you go with, just so they know. It's polite to inform them, but as long as you can afford it, parents can't "forbid" their child to go on a trip with their girl/boyfriend.
Same with living together. When I moved in with my boyfriend in my mid-twenties, I just told my parents that I was going to do it. No need to ask for permission.

    • @livymandonguilles
      @livymandonguilles 3 года назад +25

Except my parents are strict despite me being 20. I'd say it depends on the family views but it is more permissive here.

Shooot you try telling a Southern Louisiana mom that your just “informing” her you’re going to move in with a bf and watch how quick that switch will still come out 😂 I had to give my mom 6 months to get used to me leaving for my 1st trip overseas solo, I was 24 and she still kinda got mad. It’s a different kinda parenting, different culture.

YEah, really the new generation!! I am a baby-boomer and when I was a kid Spaniards were very well known for being prude, it was the Franco's days. Now with tourism, and all the liberalization it's very different from the old days, it was as such in Latin America but things are changing with the new generations as well. I guess the Catholic culture still prevails concerning respect to parents, ideas about divorce, abortion and this respect feelings towards family. By the way divorce in Spain was approved in 1981, let me tell you that I was a college student back then , so it's only normal that your parent's generation still has some of these ideas. Not to mention your grandparent's attitudes concerning this.

Asking a parent's permission once you become an adult is really silly... that being said, being a respectful child and telling them where you're going and when you'll be back - calling them if plans change - in order to help them not worry should still be a thing regardless of how old you are. No matter how old you get, you are still their kid, so respect them and they will respect your freedom.

I do not know how it is in Spain but in Argentina we have a lot of distrust and insecurity (some not all) teens do not want to meet the parents (depending on the matter) in fact they take their liberty too much they tend to be irresponsible and can end up in very strong situations . Yes, it is true that you must be respectful with your parents, but there are people who do not care.In Argentina, it happens that many boys between 13 14 15 and onwards secretly leave their parents and go to other people's houses without warning since they feel that the They are pressing the issue a lot is that that person does not know or does not care where he is because he feels that he is in a safe place. I'm not saying that you have to watch them constantly but we are also concerned about what may happen to them. it is assumed that as an adult you learned from the consequences and mistakes but there are people who do not care and do not change.

It's good in western countries that people can express their affection in public without hiding it, but also sometimes they exaggerate and could cause embarrassing situations for others around. On the other hand, Asians don't do it and it might feel a bit cold-hearted, but they are also very respectful and it's true that all that does not have to be done and showed on the streets, they can show affection at home

So gotta go with the rules God has set my best interest at heart. Marriage is about working thru these things as well. 25yrs married both virgins on wedding day nor did we live together before. I feel like a lot of korean people it's like closed in a cage only because the society it's still old and they have those "rules" that were stablished when their parents were young and I hope that changes and teenagers start to be their selves without being scared of what will people or their friends think. How often you have sex is more determined by your partner more than age. If one person does all the work all the time, it can get tiresome, so you'd be reluctant to do it as often, especially if one has a job to get to the next morning. Also, while it's not publicly hidden as in the past, Koreans did have a lot of sex. There were cheap motels, dvd rooms, and no le bangs (karaokes are different than no le bangs as karaokes are pretty expensive) to name a few. There was a thing in Korea where most girls would say they were a virgin, but after they learned about the hymen breaking in sex ed, now many say that you are only the second person they had sex with.

Teenagers have hormones going nuts... that's why they want it so much. Adults usually have more stable hormones, so desire is a bit different... usually it will start out pretty hot and heavy, but as the relationship progresses that fire burns out and it becomes more about who you are as people rather than wanting to be intimate all the time.

Sometimes only 1 time but it could be 3 or 4 hours. Sometimes no sex for a while. You just need the time and stamina really.

So judgmental. Perhaps travel and befriend those from different cultures and see firsthand the many reasons why they choose to live the way they do. What works for you doesn't work for everyone and respect begets respect. You may begin to appreciate differences and recognize that those who choose a different opinion than you aren't necessarily less woke. In fact, part of being woke is understanding and respecting others.

In Korea, apartments/condos are HELLA expensive. Many adults will live with their parents even after college because it just isn't financially reasonable to try to rent your own apartment, especially in Seoul. In addition, there is the cultural/social pressure to respect your parents more and not just run away to do your own thing.
The younger generations are becoming more similar to the global attitude, but there are still a lot of older folks around. You can't change an entire culture overnight. :)

I have a different opinion about cohabitation, especially since psychologist have proven that relationships don't usually last if this is the given situation. You can never truly know someone even if you live with them for a couple of months, or even years. That's the great part of marriage you always learn something new about your partner. It's interesting that she said if you don't live with someone to see how they are, because you need to know how they live then most likely people will get the divorced, however that's quite the opposite. Usually when people live together they find out certain small trates about a person that they find annoying and they are quick to break up, however married people don't divorce over such a small insignificant annoyances usually it's something much bigger that led to a divorce. Anyway maybe cohabitation works for her and perhaps she will have or already has a great marriage.

That's like saying, I must go to school before I actually decide to be a student there.
You become a student then you decide whether you want to stay or move to another school.

I think in Korea is depending of the person too, case by case. I kissed and hug my Korean boyfriend on the street and nobody looked at me bad. Of course is not so usually as in Spain but still is ok. Korea is changing ^^ fortunately

    The ideas like
    "I want freedom","
parents and children should be like friends""
," freedom of speech and expression"",
"I am an adult I would do whatever I like " etc
People are using those ideas everywhere all the time without bearing the responsibility for the outcome, and if you point out the mistakes you are not open minded, not giving freedom, too controlling.the ideas of decency, respect, family values are just totally ignored.

I felt like Korean culture is kind of similar to Indian..I guess it's an Asian thing..like how parents react to couples goin for trips together, about sex relationships n stuff. But u won't find ppl kissing on the streets.I dont think it's legal by law and cops or bystanders will most likely object n insult u. Even if ppl hold hands n walk closely ppl stare u down like u r committing a crime.I find it kind of sad.Unless couples indulge in somethin obscene-kissing ,holding hands walking or sitting cosily shud be allowed n not looked down upon.

India is a bit extreme though, like you can't even hold hands with your partner or hug them while holding hands of your partner is very common in S. Korea
