The way I wore out this movie until the dvd skipped, HONEY. Also, the styling & costume design really went beyond. 2000s maximalism >>> minimalistic aesthetics.
ty for calling out life with derek, being weirded out by the sexual tension between those two is one of my core preteen memories
absolutely obsessed with the gun noises over the final song
this movie came out when my parents were working on their custody situation & i was missing my dad a lot. i remember he came and picked me up early from school, took me to see this movie in theaters, then took me to a bookstore to buy the soundtrack CD 😭 it holds so much nostalgia for me fr!!
A very underrated 2000s teen movie!
Agreed!
hey everyone! sorry for the month long hiatus, i’ve been going through some personal stuff.
this video was filmed ages ago, it was also super impromptu, so the lighting and camera angle is kinda horrendous, but we move! from this geriatric drama queen to you!!
enjoy ! 💖
hope you’re doing okay
glad you’re back with vids hope you’re doing well and taking care of urself
I always thought it was weird that her mom never said (at the beginning) that “Mary” is the name she/her dad/WHOEVER gave Lola. Like she mentions it being on Lola’s birth certificate as if it was randomly assigned lmao
Those fits were awesome I miss when teen movies ate this hard with the wardrobe
This was my comfort film growing up and I would watch the video tape at least once a week
I’m waiting for someone named Mary to be like “now why am I in this?!? “ they are catching strays after that “Lola eats Mary” comment
Here I am 😢 it’s okay I get it 😢 I am named after my grandma so like I get it
loving you so much lately .. a mother is BORN this year!!!!
I couldn't find it just on looking briefly but they rushed production for mean girls so it could come soon after this movie because they thought this one would floop and it could've effected viewership or something. Daniel Franzese who played Damien I believe mentioned it on a podcast he was on years and years ago.
Omg I didn’t know you were from Perth! Don’t catch me crossing my fingers for a Mike’s Mic collab at some point, I feel like you two would bounce off of each other so well. (Also, great video, hope you’re doing alright, and love your channel, it is the best wind down content.)
I freaking love this movie lol and the pink sequin dress is a dream of mine to own 😂😂 but I think it's very creepy that this old drunk dude is having to be taken care of by a teen honestly. Also! I made the bottle cap necklace as a kid lol
Lindsay Lohan's character was so overdramatic in this film, I love it.
this was me when mindless behavior broke up
Such a vibe. I wanna watch more of these. 😂
As a girl who moved to a new state during high school this movie is my religion
I am very conflicted about the age of actors playing teenagers. On one hand, thirty something year old actors playing teens are often easier to work with on set, so less stress for all production staff, and can advocate for themselves, so are less likely to be abused. That's a huge plus in the camp of 'hire older actors to play young'. They also won't be traumatized by playing s*x scenes, because they have life experience. I have read accounts of former child actors who said their first kiss was on set for a scene, and that absolutely breaks my heart.
BUT, on the other hand, having older actors play teens really messes up our cultures ideas of how naive teens really are. It makes plots that are truly creepy look fine, because the actors look mature enough to handle things. This bleeds into our culture normalizing age gap relationships, grooming and other terrible things. It can make awful plots like Aria and Ezra from PLL and basically all of Euphoria look cool and ok. Hiring ACTUAL teens to play teens really hits home how babyfaced and underdeveloped so many teens are. It helps us step away from these awful 'jail bait' characterizations, and into more wholesome celebrations of what it's like to be truly young and growing up. I can relate to the teen movies of the early 2000s because the actors were actual teens, with acne and awkwardness and giddiness and it lends this authenticity to things that I like. I just don't think 'teen' movies with older actors can really pull it off in a way that resonates with me.
So, in conclusion, I have no idea where I land on this, and am conflicted. Thank you for coming to my TED talk, lol
The thumbnail scared the hell out of me. I was like when did I take this picture? You cuter than me but HEY TWIN 🤗
