A lot of the parents especially the original ones that were there before the show started were under a contract really hard to leave and even if they did get out of the contract there daughters wouldn’t be allowed to dance competitively until the contract term was over (6 seasons)

They learn the dances in 3 days, that’s why it always seems so frantic and everyone’s quite on edge up until competition.
as someone who danced for 15 years growing up, I'll never understand how they learned full dances that quickly. especially the group numbers, it's hard to get everyone completely in sync over weeks and weeks, much less 3 days
@@emilyb.8219 as far as I know, Abby has mentioned that they’d work on combinations and certain moves behind the scenes before announcing the numbers at pyramid. Still though 3 days is wild.

@@lydiaa6243 Christie was also great. I just think Holly had the right idea to try and avoid the conflict. But out of all the moms that went toe to toe with Abby, Christie definitely knew what was going on.
Holly was so calm and rational and also not afraid to stand on business. A true icon
the girls were soooo good so they swept the competition like every time but also …. it was rigged lol there’s so many stories from the girls who competed against them saying that the dance moms kids performed before the comp even started and got to do multiple takes for the cameras and then they’d film them winning awards before anyone else even danced
And some (many) of the competitions were like fake/organized by Abby and the producers apparently??

The first 2 seasons were the competitions real, season 3 and 4 were a few real and a few invitational, after season 4 they were all set up for the producers
this isn’t entirely true. the girls performed multiple times for the camera’s sake, but only one performance was judged.
this episode is so funny cause there was so much chaos 😭 and jill’s COWBOY hate was the main character lol atleast she was a trendsetter
The parents were in a really bad contact. It was something they could not get out of of it. These are the original cast. They did try

They didn't try that hard. And signing that kid of contract KNOWING WHO ABBY WAS is fucking disgusting. Like, hello?! Why are we acting like they didnt purposefully sign their kid's life away to be on TV? THEY SIGNED THESE CONTRACTS KNOWING ABBY ALREADY. F*ck their excuses. Be so for real right now. They said "hmmm six years? Well Abby is awful and abusive and mean, but it's TV so...six years of torture for my kids sounds fine to me". Terrible parents, terrible people.
@@Lina_unchained The 1st season they did not know this. Like I said they OG parents did not know Abby and were deceived about the contracts. However the parents after them were not.
they had to pay 100k within 7 days and they couldnt dance at other studios because abby would blackmail them in the dance community and she would take the titles they won away
Abby Lee loved to be mad at Nia for not pushing through the pain but the problem was Nia had a condition that caused CHRONIC pain. So, no she technically wasn't injured but she wasn't just "sore" either.
Maddie was a perfectionist under a lot of pressure and she almost always won. I think that’s why people said this was the best episode because it was a break from the norm and kinda surprising. People viewed Maddie as a spoiled brat and legit celebrated her failure which is really sad considering she was a literal child.
Agreed the deep dive channel really shows how much pressure she was under.
It wasn’t for money fame fortune well not until Melissa got a wind of the opportunity that her daughter could have. They all danced with Abby since they were 2 well except for Kendall and dance moms was only supposed to be a one episode documentary about the world of dance, Abby wasn’t even supposed to be in it but after they saw a mum of the studio shouting at Abby in episode one the producers saw the show becoming soo much more and that is where dance moms was created. The moms were not paid fairly for a very long time and a lot of it is fabricated drama as the girls never had any issues with certain outside dancers such as Ava as Nia and Ava are still best friends and the mums are really good friends as well
These girls actually would learn more than one routine (group number, solo, and sometimes duets or trios) in a few days and then compete with them. They were next level.

Maddie slipped because she changed her mind, she original went for a diving front walkover but switched mid air to a front Ariel. And she finished her dance but they never showed that.

Oh the competitions are rigged, I used to know a girl who was on a competing team with Abby Lee Miller's dancers and she said that it was basically rigged/bought.

Okay, so basically these girls have been dancing with abby since they were 2/3 years old, Christi explained the selections for the show on her RUclips channel if you're interested
Last year when I was on vacation I saw Abby Lee Miller in the flesh and was immediately so stressed out because even though I never watched Dance Moms I knew how scary she could be :P Obviously I just avoided her but it was crazy to see her bossing around girls in real life...I didn't know she still had a dance studio lol

Holly, Nia's mom, clearly loves her so much. I haven't seen a lot of eps, but I saw one around this time where Holly was late to a practice (Nia wasn't, just her mom) and Abby suggested to Nia her mom didn't care about Nia because she put her work over dance practice. Holly is a %&&*$% doctor! You can see how much that woman loves her daughter every time she looks at her.
my niece is more into gymnastics but the one season she took dance classes, whenever i watched a comp i was honestly reacting the same as you lmao
i remember one group she went up against had a choreographed fight scene set to a hip hop remix of kung fu fighting. seeing kids, who were 11--14, doing splits and flipping over each others' shoulders was insane! those kids were mad talented

13:17 so with how they got selected back to the barre does a podcast episode on how it all began and essentially Chrissy saw an ad for a mom and daughter duo reality TV and was just filming with her flip camera and sent it in and Bryan Stinson one of the creators, saw the chemistry between the girls and the moms and replied back to her after seeing a video of Abby teach “you really hire someone who can’t to yell at your daughters and teach them” and then realize it was a jackpot when the moms were talking shit about each other organically
Yes! It was very common for the Abby Lee girls to sweep the competition. They were just THAT GOOD! 💁🏽♀️ I was a teen when this show was out, so I loved watching these girl dance! I was obsessed 🤩
Nia has been open about her struggles with chronic pain (i think that might have been what Abby meant when she talked about sore vs injured but Abby also has diminished Nias pain in other episodes so idk) and she actually was in a wheelchair i believe for a year and was only back dancing one year before dance moms! She’s so hardworking and talented and she deserved so much better than the treatment she got.

Loved your video and reactions, 😂. So glad you decided to watch an episode. Dance Moms is my guilty pleasure. I love watching these talented kids. Like some have mentioned, the moms and girls were stuck in a horrible contract. But what I didn’t see mentioned was that before the show the girls didn’t regularly deal with Abby. Of course they knew her but they were mainly taught by her employees. So this was new for all of them, having to be around her constantly and the moms seeing the way she taught them. And then they were stuck until either lawyers or incidents got some of them off the show. You should watch the episodes with the incidents that led to them leaving. But it is a progression. There are recaps online if you don’t want to watch them all, lol.

most of the (original) moms wanted to get their kids out of that show for multiple seasons but due to contracts they had no choice. that's why they had to keep putting their kids through all that drama.

The girls actually had to learn their solos and group dances in three days. There are new solos and group dances assigned every single episode. that just shows how they are not only work through all of the drama and negativity that was happening around them, but also because they were picking up the choreography that quickly
they also had to redo their dance performances
I grew up watching dance moms and it aired on channel 10 in Australia and it’s such a great show ❤

You should watch season 2 episode 26 (Nationals 90210)! Season 2 is the best season probably, it's before things started to go really downhill and the moms who came onto the show were really just doing it for the fame. The reunion was interesting but probably wouldn't mean much if you hadn't seen most of the show (and it had more than just Jojo and another girl, they had Kendall, Brooke, Chloe, Paige, Kalani from season 4 on and then Jojo)
