      @@BigVanSmallWorld Don't laugh but I had to seriously talk myself out of putting a 2 burner with oven stove into Dobby with my whopping 76" long rear part of the van lol. My promise to myself is when I get a van with at least 8' of length back there I will install an oven. Nothing like baking fresh muffin's at breakfast with a cup of good coffee! I built myself a teardrop trailer sized gypsy caravan a dozen years ago to get out camping and had an outside kitchen and I would get up in the morning put the coffee on to percolate and mix up some muffin's toss them in the oven and 20 minutes later while most of the campers are eating pop tarts and un toasted bread...I have a freshly baked muffin lol.

    • @BigVanSmallWorld
      @BigVanSmallWorld  6 лет назад

      Remy Olla its a good question. I won’t say what I spent but I will say it’s entirely up to the individual and there budget you could build out a van for a couple of hundred bucks if you go all secondhand and reclaim wood road or you could spend thousands like I say it’s up to you and what you want out of it. Just make sure you insulated it probably that’s the one thing you must get right and there’s plenty of videos out there showing how to do this. Once you have this done you can chop and change the inside as and when you want over time. Hope this helps

    Was it a difficult job moving the electrics control panel as I assume it was originally behind seats? Is it possible in a service van to remove the wood from the front seats to fit swivel seats? Just thinking of buying a service van as it has an excellent heating system fitted and water by Clarkes which cost an absolute fortune? Love you van :-)

    • @BigVanSmallWorld
      @BigVanSmallWorld  6 лет назад +1

      hay Stephen it's not a difficult move just take photos of all the connections before you undo them to move the panel and yes the wooden bulkhead can be removed. go for it they make great campers

      @stephenmorgan5100 5 лет назад +1

      @@BigVanSmallWorld Update, as you now know I did go for it and got a 2011 service van. Just today decided in lay out and going for a bed that folds from the wall to give more room, will leave the devision panel only extend it right to the door and fit a combined sink and burner in it and gonna leave microwave, gave it a good clean and it works a treat. Was lucky with batteries looked like they had just been replaced but added two more 220amphr to go with them and a 390 watt solar panel going to the new battery bank. Really trying hard to fit a small shower room so that will go 1/3 ]rd of the way into the door space.

      Hello Alvara DaCosta the van started out life as a mobile mess unit for railway workers to take brakes and rest.
      The heater was already fitted.
      They’re available on eBay though if you’re building out a van I would recommend a gas propex heater you get the same air-blown heating but don’t burn your precious diesel and if you have refillable gas it’s so so cheap to run. I will upload a video to show how I refill my gas bottles at petrol station using LPG for a fraction of the cost of switching empty bottles for full ones. As soon as one of mine run out I will do a vlog if you subscribe and hit the bell you won’t miss it :)

      @BigVanSmallWorld  6 лет назад +4

      Hello good question .
      My van started life as a welfare van it’s basically a mobile tea room where workers can take a brake from working. There fitted out with hot water/sink/microwave/night heater. Some have a what you guys in America call a bathroom in the back we call it a bog. Mine didn’t have one but had everything else.so they make great campers as they come with so many extras. Mine was ex railway company hop this explains.

    • @freedomdove
      @freedomdove 6 лет назад +1

      Okay, thanks. We must have different definitions for "welfare". Lol. Over here we would just call your van a mobile break room. "Welfare" here is a system wherein you can get government money/help if you're poor or disabled.
