It's a Goddess and she is a lovely lady, full of the joys of spring. I am not going to call her anything else as I don't want her angry with me as I am doing a Yew box with an Indian rosewood finial at the minute :).. It happens mate,. Shay
Yews are a very unusual species in many different ways. I cannot go near them as they make feel ill. If for any reason I do inadvertently encounter one I become very faint and need to sleep for hours afterwards. Glad you were ok.
i like that type of texturing, it would of been good to do black first, but i know you like to experiment, and you,ve already done that one, ....nice lil vid ;)
Oh my! I'd agree that the God of Yew said "How dare you defile my wood?" LOL Actually, I really quite liked the texture you used on the wood. It brought out the grain of the piece nicely. At least you didn't get hurt. 💜

So now you are also a member of a new woodworking club: “The Flying Yew Club”. Or in this case, the “Colorful Flying Yew Club”. Time for a new t-shirt? Brought to you by Blue Thumb Studio!🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤪 ( Glad you did not need stitches!).
Stewart, have you ever heard of unicorn spit wood dye/stain?you should investigate their RUclips channel and Facebook page,I'm sure you will be interested in the product!
Ouch, what a shame. Funnily enough I had my own little 'explode off the lathe' experience in the week when turning the neck of a bud vase which seems to have split under pressure/heat and assume caught the gauge.... maybe in sympathy with the Yew Gods?
Oh goodness gracious me.... the Goddess of Yew flouted, pooh-phooed, ignored and ground down. Oh, dear. The results looked lovely but NOT on a piece of Yew. She has spoken and you have been warned. Love the production values, the writing and keeping us viewers in suspenders until the very last frame. Worthy of Hitchcock himself. ( By the way, this was an episode of "Tales of the Unexpected" wasn't it..? )
Hi Stewart, Yew should have known better. Yew got away with it once. What did Yew expect the Goddess to do, sit and watch Yew take a power tool to another piece of her family?? I really like the end result Stewart and the last bit of blue made a big difference. If you went into politics I would vote for Yew. Take care Stewart. Cheers, Huw
Never gonna give yew up Never gonna let yew down Never gonna run around and desert yew Never gonna make yew cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt yew....
Yes you've gotta be careful poking blunt sticks at things, most likely you're gunna upset it! First time I've ever seen you push so hard, usually the wood gives up without any arguing. Burn it, sprinkle it with salt and bury the ashes so it never haunts again!
I warned you last week and you did not learn, for a member of the teaching profession that is unforgivable however your ability to show others your mistakes and let others learn from them will probably gain you forgiveness by the Gods of Yew. By the way, the texturing was OK but the colour scheme, not the right word in my considered opinion for what you produced, left a lot to be desired. In passing have you ever read or looked at Michael Wilcox's "Perfect Colour Choices for the Artist"? Cheers mate
Too bad, I liked the texture, the blue, the brown not so much. However, I think you are seriously misinterpreting the cause of the, er, incident. I'm quite certain that the offense was taken at your blue thumb. These deities do not like thumbs to be trifled with.
You are such a great story teller! I was hoping the video was longer! I think it looked great!
Glad you enjoyed it - will try to keep you entertained with more videos. Cheers!
Thinks happen brother !!!! You done again an amazing work well done !!!
Thank you, Kostas! It was fun to do, even if it went wrong near the end!!
So grateful that you weren’t injured! I say yew should avoid that wood 😆 The pictures look great though!
Thanks, Angie! I'll take it a bit easier next time!

You might just be the Bob Ross of Yew.
Thank you! A great compliment!!

@@stewartfurini Bet you would sell more than 100, just in England alone!
I don't think it was the coloring that was at fault Stewart. Some pieces of wood simply have to be firewood. You could say it is their destiny.

Disappointed he stopped the video. Could’ve used as a learning piece. Thumbs down.
Sorry I didn't include the wood flying out of the chuck - it happens so fast it isn't easy to see how it happens.
