Then Jimmy Carter deregulated the industry and every loser alive now can afford to fly. Airlines compete on price and frequency. So therefore you receive a crappy product. It's like socialized medicine and socialism in general. A proverbial race to the bottom

As a kid during this Era, I was fortunate that my father was an officer in the Navy and as a result, i got to fly a lot. It's so depressing what air travel has turned into. I refuse to fly coach today. The lack of manners, hygiene, leg room, service and people who cannot fit into one seat, is just too much. No thanks, I'll pay for business or try to upgrade to first. Aa a last resort, I'll drive. That's right, I would rather drive then fly coach. You can thank President Ronald Reagan, deregulation and corporate greed for the way things are today.

As a 1980's into the mid 1990's airline employee for Continental Express then Continental after the new Denver airport was opened. So, so much has changed in this industry. I have so many memories of how things were then, paper tickets, family meeting passengers at the gate, sky caps out on the curb ready to check bags right out of your car. It's seems the faster and more sophisticated mankind becomes the more we loose. So sad that mankind can on the one hand create and engineer such marvels, and yet there is an evil waiting to undo all the progress. I'm glad I lived at a time where you could ask for a blanket & a pillow on an airplane.

Wow, great to see. This was shot using Kodak 16mm film on bright sunny days with a tripod to give the HD like results. Love the early BA livery and it appears the Concorde landing procedure changed at some point in the decades that followed.

      It was a great time,
especially having my first job at the airport in high school while learning how to fly and getting my pilots license.

And to think that in 40-50 years our current aviation world will be the vintage era, with A340's, A380's and 747's still ruling the skies...

Torrance, with the big jets traveling right overhead on their way out. We'd run out of the classroom when we heard a 747 going over ... just to see !!!

@@flyingtigerline That's incredible! Did Torrance airport really have big jets around at one time? I was born too late! 😔
