I like giving coffee from Catholic Coffee. They have flavors inspired by saints. It is fun when I can gift one inspired by someone's patron saint. Also, of course, books.
We like to ignore the sticker numbers and place the pieces by shape to make it a little more challenging and fun. Sometimes we also like to use tweezers to help get the placement just right. We hope you enjoy the sticker books- we were amazed when we first started looking into puzzle alternatives how many neat options are out there :)
Great ideas ladies! I am glad to hear that we’re not the only ones who can no longer put together puzzles. We even put a tablecloth over ours and our cat kept digging up the edges and pulling out pieces. My husband thought perhaps he could cut a piece of plexiglass for us to put over top. I’m hoping that will be cat proof.
We are also investigating cat-proof ideas here :) Using a white board base with a ply wood top seems to be a popular option… but where would you keep something that big?
Thanks for sharing these. I'd never heard of sticker books. When my daughter decluttered before she moved away, she left a coloring book & pencils that I have used a couple times to pass time since I'm alone. I'm still so interested in the Lourdes miracle book that you shared; thanks for the reminder. Every December our church holds a bazaar & has some of the nicest gifts. I'm so very grateful you're here !
Thank you for the video ❤ My favorite Catholic gifts to give to family and friends include: Mystic Monk Coffee or Catholic Company Coffee, candles, books from Ave Maria, Word on Fire or Ascension Press 🤗
Good coffee is a blessing! A cup of bad coffee always reminds us of that, lol. We've heard that Mystic Monk is a very good brand- and nice that you can support the monks :)
I had never heard of the sticker books, or the fancy flashlight. Going to check into those for sure. Lots of good “non-stuff” recommendations too. Thanks🙏
You both shared so many neat ideas for Christmas gifts (and I love the sticker book that Kate is giving you for Christmas)😊But I wanted to ask were to find out more about the rosary you were talking about when you said about your dad, I didn't see a link for it? Thank you again for all you shared 💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏
Whenever your videos deal with books, I know it’s going to be a purchase time and today was no different. 😄psalms sticker book was the gift I didn’t know I needed!!!
It does look really good! There is another one with Bible verses that also looks really good. We try not to look at the sticker numbers and just match the shape to the space to make it a little more challenging. If you wind up getting it, let us know what you think :)
Thank you for the wonderful suggestions! By the way, I know what to get priests! Advent is a very busy time for priests. Two years ago, in early December, I gave our priests quick, but good, tasty food to sustain them during the weeks of Advent. For instance: A large bag of organic pistachios, a large bag of organic raisins, organic apples, small bags of trail mix (good healthy kind that also tastes good) and a gift card to a local restaurant called Mission BBQ which serves quick but good food that you can get to go. Well, one of the priests said to me, "Thank you so much for the gifts! If I didn't already know better, I'd say you had a priest in your family because this is perfect!". So last year I gave the same thing and this priest was beaming ear to ear when I gave him the box and he said he loved getting his Advent gift! So you got it straight from a priest - don't give them Christmas gifts, give them Advent food gifts to help sustain them! (I heard a priest online say they definitely don't want sweets--cookies, etc!)😃
What a great idea! The priests here are always on the go night and day- getting called out to the hospital especially at night. Snack-type, healthy on the go food would be a great gift for them :)
I like to give yarn. 😉 It's in a value-added form, though--scarves, dish towels, mittens, even the occasional sweater. I don't usually make people make their own gifts, though for those who enjoy doing that, there are gift certificates to yarn stores. So far I haven't had to sell a kidney to make a sweater, but that's always an option . . .
Lol- we feel sure that you are relieved to have that kidney in your back pocket for hard times, Margaret. Yarn stores gift certificates have been popular here, too :)
This was a wonderful surprise first thing on a Sunday!! When you discuss books would you please list the titles and authors in the description box? Sometimes the print on the book covers is unfocused and trying to look up just by title can bring up too many results - i.e. looking up 'Love Immortal' generated a multitude of very spicy results, none of which was the right book. Thank you!!
Oh, my goodness- thank you for letting us know! We have a whole list of links that somehow didn't get copied over to the description box, but they are there for you now. We know what you mean about Love Immortal; we had the same problem trying to find the right link. Who knew there were so many of them?
These are great! For the Chaste Heart of St Joseph do you think that would be ok for age 9? I am looking for books to give to my Sunday school kids but not sure how much they go into what chaste means. Also, you had some Sacred Art books that were nice can you suggest any for that age that don't show nudity because I am not sure where families are with that in each of their homes. I am never sure looking online what is truly Catholic when it comes to some of the nice art books. I'm trying to give them books that aren't too cartoonish and are catheceticizisg in nature. I am trying to get them used as well. God Bless You!!
Hi, Christie- yes, we think would be wonderful to give a 9 year old. There is not too much information about being chaste for a 9 year old. For art books for that age, you can find several nice options at the Holy Heroes website here: holyheroes.com/collections/catholic-childrens-books/sacred-art?srsltid=AfmBOopmzaFUUxEow2MnCkKrN20bcnoTP5u1SFwJM6PyzQLyvRgJC2hn We like "Let's Look at a Masterpiece" for older kids. Hope that helps!
New catholic here. I understand many people give Christmas gifts to their priest. What wd you give a priest? No idea. Don't they have enough books, crucifixes, rosaries, religious art, etc. Can someone give suggestions. Don't know if my priest likes coffee, tea or booze (of any kind) so not sure if anything like that wd be appropriate. What do you give your priest?
That is such a great question! It's been our experience here that, yes, many priests already have as many books and religious articles as they want or need. Consumable items like coffee or tea might be more welcome- but maybe you could check with the church secretary to see what/if he likes to receive as far as food or drink. It mostly likely varies from priest to priest. You could also ask to see if the church is in need of anything special such as new altar cloths or vestments that would make a nice Christmas gift.. Having a mass said for priest is a wonderful option, too. Also, you could give a donation to a charity of his choice. If your church has any debt (like a building fund being paid off), you could make an extra donation to that and simply let him know that in his honor a donation has been made. Hopefully some of our other viewers can chime in and add more suggestions.
Great ideas! The parish secretary is always a great resource. We also give a Mass cards for Christmas, Easter and his ordination anniversary. Sometimes I put together a gift basket with smoked salmon, nuts, chocolates, crackers cheese etc. And a bottle of wine. Also maybe an invitation to dinner, either at your house or out on the town. Gift cards are also nice. These men work so very hard, with little time off. It's so important to remember them during the Holidays! 😊
What are your favorite gifts to give and receive?
❤

I asked for adult sticker books for Christmas, I can imagine e what fun that is..
also adult coloring books, I need a few hobbies

@ Exactly. Where to store it? I tried the mats you roll up and they don’t work that well. The pieces don’t stay together very well.

You are very welcome, Jean! We hope you found some good ideas :)
Oh, I did! I think I'm going to get my dad a set of Battle Beads from Rugged Rosaries. I think he'd like those. I'd like some of the books myself!
