- This absolute icon needs no introduction. Rather, I pose to you a question...what's the sportiest Z car? I reckon this twin turbo powered rocket should certainly be in contention for this title. Very nice! Yeah it’s definitely and icon and a bucket list car for me checked off the list.
This was such a land mark when introduced in 1990. Still as gorgeous as ever. Only thing I would change would be the alloys. LOVE it so much more than the 90s supra .

The 2nd gen. 300ZX is still my favorite Z car of all time.
Still looks incredibly great and performs so well.
I remember seeing a lot of these on the road when i was a kid. I loved the style of this car. It still looks modern in 2024.
The shape really has aged well. Both the rear and front lights are fantastic looking designs still today.

Just seeing this video. I have a “96 Z32 NA that I actually purchased in “96. Still looks and runs great. All stock equipment except for the radio, which I had to replace last yr. Less than 90K miles. It has been a great car. I had an ‘81 280ZX before that. I still haven’t seen the NEW Z on the road yet.
Your Z32 has had a great life no doubt, awesome to hear you had it this whole time. I also really dig the 280ZX…great Z cars!

The Z32 TT isn't the sportiest Z-car, but it was the most advanced for its time. It's a grand touring sports car. The ZX cars all were. The "sportiest" Z cars are the plain old Zs. 240z, 260z, 280z, 350z, and 370z. They're no-nonsense sports cars without all the frills.
These are more than fair points, but Nissan wasn’t content with building a powerful highway cruiser. They intentionally targeted the C5 Corvette performance numbers which is undeniably a proper sports car. Hell, they even bested those numbers. I’m with you that the pared down sports car trophy goes to the original 240Z, but the 300ZX is more sport focused than gran tourer.
@@autoobsessivegarage The C5 Corvette didn't exist when the Z32 was on the market. That was the C4 era. While the C4 was a good performer, it wasn't exactly a super hardcore sports car in its own right.
I was very happy when Nissan went back downmarket with the 350z. That was a shift back to the original price segment that the Z competed in when the 240z was new. It was supposed to be substantially cheaper than a Corvette.

Got my 1990 2+2 model with 150k miles in great condition for $10k earlier this year, a similar Turbo model is going to average a bit higher than that for sure lol
Sounds like you scored a really good deal. Looks like the twin turbo models are definitely still very much on an upward price curve.
The 1981 Datsun 280zx Turbo, blew the doors off the corvette in 1981, never mind the 1984 50th Anniversary 300zx Z31.
Those more vintage Z cars are a blast too. They really challenged the sports car market.

Out in my area clean manual tt models are all around $20k. I Would jump on one at $10k.
The ones around $10k usually need a bunch of cosmetic work and/or maintenance. Which technically moves that price closer to $15k.
Still a screaming deal for this much car.
I’m selling mine for 11,000 with not many cosmetic repairs.

That engine runs hot AF. I would always pop the hood when i got home to evacuate the heat. Best Z for sure! However, a complete joke compared to the NSX for reliability.
Fortunately I’ve avoided any overheating issues. There is an aftermarket oil cooler fitted to this one so that helps. I’m big on replacing old coolant houses, thermostats, and keep fresh fluid.
Fully agree on the NSX reliability. I owned a 93 quite a few years back.
Both cars feel special to me.
I popped the hood on my Stealth TT a few minutes from home to cool it off. Fun times...
My 93 z32tt is still solid at 177k miles and everything still works

@@thrasher10000 Very different driving feel, the NSX is a fair bit lighter and it's mid-engine handling is completely different. The 300ZX feels a ton more torquey and very planted at higher speeds. Both do feel incredibly special though.
Nissan 300 zx TT 2 + 2 were available from 1990 on wards. Problem was, they were very pricey at the time.
Unfortunately all US market twin turbos were 2 seater coupes. Many folks did turbo swap the 2+2 models.

Many years ago, to satisfy American demand, Nissan created the 280 zx 2 + 2 to cater for the owners need to carry children, pets, etc. ha ha
Do you think was the sole reason why so few 300 zx TT were sold in America?
I think the 2+2 twin turbo model Z32 was only offered in Canada and Europe, not the US !
@@ronwilliams621 That automatically raises the QUESTION???? Why did Nissan decide to write off 70% of the American sales volume by not making the z32 TT manual, 2+2?
@@midas7394 It's a very valid question...that being said...unfortunately Nissan would have a track record of poor decisions arriving at near bankruptcy quite recently.

That's the slowest twin turbo I've ever seen. Most ran to 60 in 5.5
Maybe 30 years ago on a prepped surface and with a waaaaay more skilled driver.
