@@itzrlymia0169 Yeah, well he sounds just like Freddie, if you listened to "Love of my Life" by Marc martel you know that when he says Love of my life it's amazing, i love him
He actually helped in the making of the new Bohemian Rhapsody movie about Queen in the singing parts and they mashed up his and Freddie’s voice and the actor that plays Freddie - for anyone that wanted to know x
I always wondered why Freddie sounded so different all the time...sometimes feminine, then later on much more masculine. What an amazing and accurate description coming from Marc. Spot on!!!
Never_mind_me It’s_just_kaitlindeguiseppi the more space in the mouth has already been proven inaccurate considering Freddie had teeth work done in the late 80’s (it’s true look it up) what was actually happening was that Freddie was using a technique called sub harmonics and it’s typically only used by Tibetan throat singers or masterful bass/baritone singers. But when Freddie has his lack of ability to sing, he pushed so hard on his vocal chords that he ended up releasing the chord that comes with su harmonica into his natural singing state, it’s the same reason he has such a crazy vibrato, it was that unused chord letting loose in his throat as he sang and Marc has slowly but surely been mastering it as well
@@alexdavis6578 Saturday, January 19, 2019 The Curious Case of Freddie Mercury's Teeth Do a search on Freddie Mercury, and one of the first auto-fill suggestions that Google will give you is "freddie mercury teeth." It seems Freddie's famous overbite was just as legendary as the man himself, and the story that's been told countless times about his mouth is that it contained four extra teeth. Many people claim all four of them were on the top jaw and that these teeth were responsible for pushing out his front ones into a prominent overbite. According to Queen folklore, Freddie didn't want to have the extra teeth removed or try to have the overbite fixed because he was worried doing so could possibly change the sound and range of his voice. But, after diving deeper into this story as well as viewing numerous photos and videos showing Freddie's teeth, I'm not so sure that four extra ones actually existed. Like so many other facets of Freddie's personal life, it's hard to know what is and isn't true. So, if you can bear with an unusual post from a rabid Queen fan, here's what we do (and don't know) about Freddie Mercury's teeth. Freddie's Complicated Relationship With His Teeth First, let me say that I personally don't see anything "wrong" or unattractive about Freddie Mercury's teeth. For starters, I have a bit of an overbite myself. My two front teeth are a little on the large side and I have slight spaces between some of my front teeth. Before I became a huge fan of his, sometimes I didn't like the way my teeth looked, and I even contemplated getting Invisalign at some point to correct the slight gaps. Then I became a Queen fan and realized if Freddie was comfortable smiling and opening his mouth wide while singing, I didn't have anything to feel self conscious about. And therein lies a contradiction about how Freddie felt about his smile and what he showed us on the stage. Freddie Mercury seemed to have had a complicated relationship with his teeth. According to Rami Malek, who played him in Bohemian Rhapsody, Freddie was cruelly called "Bucky" by schoolmates because of his teeth. Sometimes he would bring his upper lip down to try to cover them and during several interviews he puts his hand up to his mouth to try to hide his teeth when something makes him laugh hard. via GIPHY Numerous people who were close to Freddie have said that he was really self conscious about the overbite. But on stage and in music videos, he had no qualms about opening his mouth wide and even throwing his head back to unleash that astounding voice that sounded like it was summoned directly from the gods. via GIPHY BUT...we do know that Freddie said many times that his stage persona and the real him were not the same person. He was very confident and extroverted while performing while sometimes a little shy away from the spotlight. Nonetheless, the fabulous teeth were always on full display when he was singing. And, there are plenty of photos of him online smiling and you can't really tell from a majority of these pictures that there was something different about his teeth. The overbite really isn't all that noticeable except in a handful of them, and it's not necessarily an overbite I consider unattractive (I've seen much worse.) In fact, I've only seen maybe three or four photos showing him smiling in such a way that it makes his front teeth look especially prominent and two of them are from his childhood and teen years. It's also as if his front teeth were oversized but then he grew into them as he matured into adulthood. The infamous mustache, in my opinion, also worked extremely well for him and helped "hide" the overbite. Two "Extra" Bottom Teeth? In the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, Freddie reveals to Roger Taylor and Brian May shortly upon meeting them that he has four extra incisors. "More space in my mouth means more range," he tells them. Only we don't know if he really did have four extra incisors. One thing I did spot from watching music videos is he had two noticeable teeth on the bottom that are out of place. They're right in front of the row of bottom teeth. Below is a screenshot for Queen's "Headlong" video where you can really see them. At first I thought, "Cool! This does seem to confirm the extra teeth story." (And they make him look like a sexy vampire.) Unfortunately, those two teeth may not be extra ones but simply two misplaced ones that didn't have room to go where they were supposed to go. When I posted the screenshot to Quora at least one dental hygienist and another person who may have been a dentist said they were misplaced teeth due to crowding. The clue is that he has a bicuspid right next to the four bottom middle teeth. Further complicating the extra teeth theory is a fan on a Queen Facebook group page I belong to said they read that Freddie had all four of his wisdom teeth (I didn't ask them where they read it, but perhaps it's in a biography.) His mouth was large enough and the wisdom teeth came in straight so he didn't have to have them removed (fun fact! This is another teeth trait I have in common with my favorite performer.) So, while wisdom teeth aren't considered "extra" teeth (although many adults need to have theirs extracted) it's possible this factoid got twisted into the "four extra teeth" story that circulates about Freddie to this day. And it's also still possible that Freddie did have extra teeth in the back on top in addition to the two wisdom teeth up there. Photos and videos I've seen so far don't show anything "extra" on top but we're not seeing all of the way back in his mouth, so who knows. Having extra teeth is a real dental condition, by the way. It's known as hyperdontia and the extra teeth are called supernumerary ones. As it can be a genetic condition, some sources have speculated that Freddie inherited it from his mother's side of the family (if he did indeed have it.) Freddie's Fear of the Dentist So, you would think that if you're the biggest rock star on the planet and you're VERY concerned about wanting to keep all of your teeth to maintain your voice, that you would be going to the very best dentist in London every six months for a cleaning and check-up, right? Not when it came to Freddie Mercury. Something that I recently learned about Freddie that really surprised me is that he had a dental phobia. I suspect a lot of it had to do with the braces he wore as a kid on his teeth that were described as "painful" by at least one biography on him. It could also be he was worried a dentist would try to start to fix his overbite while he was sedated having other work done. People who are afraid of going to the dentist may also don't like the loss of control they feel while they're held sort of captive in the dentist's chair. Whatever the reason, poor Freddie, like so many of us, was not a fan of dentists. He even says so in this scanned Q&A page I found online that came from 16 magazine (check out his answer to what his greatest fear is.) Never mind that local anesthetic and laughing gas were readily available in the '70s and '80s. And...uh-oh; look at what he answered for "favorite foods." That's not a good idea, Fred! Roger Taylor (who, ironically, was about to study dentistry when Queen was formed) also says in a documentary that he believes it was fear that kept Freddie from looking into fixing his overbite. Despite all this (and a heavy smoking habit starting in the early '80s...!!!) the man had what was absolutely pristine (and white!) looking teeth. There's no visible cavities or even any dental work in any video of him singing or photos showing his mouth open wide. No doubt his at-home oral care was exemplary. ***UPDATE: As a commenter on this post noted, Freddie did get some silver fillings on a few upper teeth done at some point and since she left that comment, I have seen one photo of him singing that shows a small one. In Hutton's memoirs he did write Freddie did go once a year for cleaning and hygiene. NRN
I know I'm about 5 years late to the party but Marc is absolutely correct about singing from the diaphragm. Its the first thing any singer or vocal coach worth his salt will tell you. You HAVE to project your voice to sing like Freddie Mercury. His vocal style needs it or it just won't be convincing. And however subtle it is, Mark really does have a facial bone structure similar to Freddie Mercury's and that makes it a lot easier for him to do these songs than it is for us mere mortals.
I'm doing math as quickly as I can, but in 45 years the closest to Freddie Mercury as you realized is Marc Martel? I only assume that you're discounting Freddie Mercury who has only been dead for just 27 to 28 of those afore mentioned 45 years.
Great King Rat 🐀 Some folk will take offence at anything, I met a bloke with no legs this morning while at the bus stop, all I asked was ‘How are you getting on? Now, I’m joking.
A DNA test needs to be done. This kid has a strong family resemblance to Freddie. The jaw, nose, ears, eyebrows. And that voice! Freddie's sister Kashmira could help since she is Freddie's full blood sister. I've pondered many a night on this.
The proved that freddies structure of.his mouth and sinuses are why he was able to sound how he did. They proved if he "fixed his teeth" it wouldve messed up his sound. This guy genuinely has extremely similar structuring even with the way his teeth are in his mouth even if hes not an exact look alike it's absolutely why he can pull it off an no one else can despite having great voices.
fatflapssmith Marc definitely had his teeth fixed, there’s old videos from the early 2000’s of Marc where he had a bit of an overbite and you can hear that Marc has a lisp because he still has a bit of that overbite
@Great King Rat why you so toxic ik you probably don't like marc martel but you don't have to go in every comment section calling people dumbasses ok you've been doing this for months
Little is mentioned about exactly WHY you sound like Freddie... It's the vibrato. You have the same intensity and frequency. Your pitch and the attack and ending of your vibrato is basically perfect.
TheTrooper 98Vlog like he said, he has never had any vocal lessons and he doesn’t know a lot of the terminology, he focuses on how Freddie puts emotion into his singing which is the most important part and what Marc was trying to get across.
When he talks he sounds like John Barrowman from Arrow, Torchwood and Doctor Who, but sounds like Freddie when he sings. Funny thing is he looks like a cross between John Barrowman and Freddie.
Hi marc I wanted to let you know I’ve only just discovered you after being diagnosed with tinnitus and unable to sleep at night my favourite group a queen and I was a big fan of Freddie and in order to take my mind off of the terrible noise in my head I’ve been listening to you so you are a gift from God thank you so much
I’ve never taken lessons and recently discovered I can sing quite well. I was always shy and afraid to actually sing in front of people until I got a bit drunk one night.
He then proceeds to talk about what vocal coaches say to do, and reinforces those ideas, so.... who needs official lessons when theres youtube I guess. Ha!
Disgusted Batman i too never take voice lessons. How did i do High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco in one take? And Don’t Stop Me Now? And Bohemian Rhapsody? And Radio Ga Ga? And more?
It’s scary how exact you sound like Freddie at times. The way you can replicate the various years of his voice. If I close my eyes it’s as if you ARE him. I’m so happy the film had you on board for the acapella bits. The ‘happy birthday’ and ‘love of my life’ bits gave me chills. It honestly felt like they’d found long lost secret recordings of him. I can see why they have Adam touring with them (I’ve seen him live and he’s fantastic, he really captures the showmanship that Freddie has without trying to be him). BUT. I do wish you could do one big recorded concert with Queen. I’d love to just close my eyes and imagine Freddie there as your voice is STUNNING. So SO good.

I believe Marc is a phenomenal performer and having met him personally he is such a kind genuine human being who wants to see people happy and he’s doing it to the best of his ability. Mike Oxlong do you know how sad it is when your dad is a singer and plays piano (so good that he could live just from music) and me his daughter can‘t sing at all !!!
Genetics, a good ear, and plenty of practice will get you far. I too am a huge fan of Freddy and get pretty damn close to his exact range and sound, my problem is the Teeth, my teeth are all straight, tho I do have a slight overbite, its hard to get some of his sounds down pat when I dont have his teeth, cause they play a huge part in the exact lay out of his words and the space his tongue and lips had for the formation of his words.
@@cherishchristian7960 it's non true. I started smoking at the end of 1970 and my voice changed. When i got AIDS i stopped smoking and my voice became lighter
I love how you bring out the point with regards to Freddie's voice change from an 'angry violin' in the 1970s to a more macho rockstar in the 1980s. The man never stopped giving his all when singing during his lifetime - a true legend in every way.
As a lifetime Queen's discography collector and truly hardcore fan - and also as a fellow singer, I'm amazed at this guy's listening and singing ability - regardless of singing lessons having been taken or not. Would have made the best Freddie in the Bo-Rap upcoming movie.
mexicanosdelmundo I disagree. I thing Rami Melak was PERFECT for the role and I like how they send his and the original queen vocals for the movie so it’s really authentic. That was one thing I was worried about but they did great.
I remember meeting you after a Downhere concert and was just in awe of how much you reminded me of Freddy that I mentioned it to you, which I'm sure wasn't the first time you've been told( especially these days). After my wife and I walked away, she scolded me for saying that to you. :) Oh well, wasn't the first time and won't be the last time I "embarrassed" her. Glad to see you are still embracing your God given talent.
No singing lessons, huh. My god... you have a gift. You help keep Freddie alive. I’m a big fan, Marc. I have been since your QE audition. The way you broke all that down... 😮 I’m just floored. ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you!!!
+Marc Martel Fans Lol, Todd, at least after picking this fancy name, try to be somewhat realistic in your comments. Marc got the first call about the movie in December 2016 (see his facebok post from 28 July). This video was released already in October, so 100% sure it was not a result of a research for the movie
Genetics 80% and 20% technique, which is available thanks to genetics. Singing with almost no nose breathing is called sul fiato and Freddie was doing this all the time in the soft, lyrical parts.
I think “balls & brains” (B&B’s) deserve a fair percentage...aka “having the confidence to strut on stage & royally kick ass by belting songs out w/all u got, & blowing the crowd away w/ the very REAL TALENT that their brains, & the epic singer’s brain, all agreed & recognized as “the real thing: the voice of a born star.Thankfully, Freddie had more than enough B&B’s... & esp’ly TALENT....to know he was born 2b a rockstar. Sadly, these are the days of way too many celebs who are “all balls no talent...but no brains (or the simple normal self-awareness of the average child) to know the difference (that they lack all the imaginary abilities that only they, & maybe their equally clueless cult.. I mean FAN club devotees, are able to see. I just miss the good old days when it took more than having the “balls needed for loudly bragging & b.s.’ing a crowd into buying whatever u r selling,”, despite their teeny lil problem of having “nothing to sell or offer ...but impressive, larger-than-life, empty promises f/ one who is obnoxiously overconfident... & 100% pathologically lacking in the brains , ability, & even basic human decency or just the normal conscience to care that they are getting fame & fortune by being nothing but a lying , fake, narcissistic user. I ‘m glad Freddie made it when he did--when TRUE talent & real passion for the music they gave the world,,,& the love & positivity & joy they shared with us thru their songs (& still do) , were all agreed upon as being necessary & important factors in those we give fame, fortune, & especially POWER. U deserved to have those things Freddie. U were a real, true champion of music, my friend.
Solid. Absolutely solid. The way you really describe what’s going on is exceptional. You explain things in such a way that even the most simple person could understand. Kudos my friend. I hope you know that you are a legend in your own right. Good luck to you.
I don’t know how you look younger but I’m not buying you’re an impersonator Freddie!!!! Ive studied you and Freddie singing and intonation and I just have never heard someone soooo close, not sure it’s possible ;) Love your voice I’m a fan!!!
He auditioned when Queen were looking for a new lead singer. I heard that due to the resemblance between him and Freddie (vocally and in a way looks-wise) the band felt it hit a little too close to home and felt uncomfortable having someone so close to the real thing. The loss of Freddie was still far too strong and so they went with Lambert instead.
My GOD I love you. I’ll never forget the first time I saw your audition tape, about a day after you uploaded it. After the first five seconds of you singing, I burst into my dad’s room (scaring him awake... oops 👀) and demanded he watch with me. He was mesmerized. I was a freshman in high school. I was the quiet type but my choir director really liked talking to me in order to break that habit, and would always ask me about my night, before class started. Without saying, I pulled up your audition on my phone, and again, MESMERIZED. I’ve been out of high school for almost four years, and still keep close contact with my choir director, as I was in her choir for four years, and she retired the year I graduated. When I found out you’d be doing vocals for the movie, I got a message from her telling me the same news I’d found. Despite having not really talked about you publicly over the years, she really remembered you. I’m really proud of how far you’ve come, and wish for even more success. You deserve it all.
To Marc: Dude, you've got one hellacious voice, and I truly wish that Queen would pick you up as the vocalist instead of Adam Lambert. Not dissing Adam Lambert, but his style doesn't fit Queen. He doesn't have the same passion for the songs that is necessary to a great rendition. Your range is excellent, but it's your dedication to the songs themselves that elevate you beyond a simple cover artist. You were right that Freddie constantly interacted emotionally with the audience and with the songs; I just watched three different Freddie Mercury versions of "Bohemian Rhapsody." The delivery of the songs was never the same, but he committed himself completely to each rendition, no matter what era in his career. The problem with a lot of vocalists is that they don't interact with the material: you have to believe it, or the audience won't buy it. You certainly believe it. So, thank you. Thank you for this video. I hope one day that Brian May and Roger Taylor will bring you aboard. That's when I'll buy a ticket to see modern Queen in concert. :)
@@capriceneman5902 i agree, also. It's what I was thinking. He needs to replace Adam Lambert. Not dissing Adam, either. I would pay top dollar to see & experience that.
@@cjjohnson7178 u have to be stupid to Think that. "As Malek himself has revealed, he’s lip syncing - but it’s not actually his voice." "tracks of Mercury's voice from his studio recordings, mashed together with Canadian Christian rock singer Marc Martel, whose ability to copy Mercury's voice is so uncanny you really just have to hear it for yourself."
Marc Martel is positively stunning and captivating and literally the only and best Freddie Mercury singer since November 25, 1991. Chills and goosebumps!!! I must see Marc singing in person. Hopefully, that will happen some day! I will keep an eye out for you, Marc Martel!
At first I came here thinking ‘alright, he’s going to give the basic jist of how to sound _like_ Freddie.’ And I was looking at Marc’s face and I thought, ‘hmm, interesting, he actually kinda looks like Freddie. He’s got the jaw, mouth, nose, and eyebrows.’ And then when he said how people told him how he sounded like Freddie, I thought ‘okay this guy better be good or I’m going to be disappointed.’ Then when he sang, I just thought, ‘yep, Freddie definitely had a secret son, and I am watching a video made by him.’
This is EXTREMELY helpful for imitators/impersonators; thank you so much for sharing, marc; very well done:) i would also think that for those who have tried and tried, and can't do it (like me): don't feel bad, because i think if freddie were still around today, and we hadn't been robbed of him, i think he would want us as entertainers to just try our best as ourselves, and just keep going:)
This man. He gets it. Like I never connected with anyone else about that journey Freddie's voice took until today. There is hope in the world of vocalists yet.
Thats a bummer, because we mortals would like to believe we can achieve the same level of awesomeness if we just practice. But apparently its just genetics 🥺🥺😔😔
andremesq honestly freddie did not have healthy vocal technique though he really blew out his voice at times. Its pretty impressive that marc is able to have such healthy technique wo vocal lessons- singers w/o lessons can sound amazing(like fred) but usually damage their chords and get nodules
Marc- As a classical/rock pianist- I hear you- You are amazing..I don't have a lot of the mimic when I sing- but I can almost do any voice( like a Rich Little impersonator) You really nail it. TY for your amazing inspiration and piano! Your musicality is tremendous!
AKOM 20 Who do you think they would rather have, Adam Lambert, a fantastic singer, or Marc Martel, an even better singer who can bring almost the same energy to the concert as Freddie could.
They chose Adam because he has a very different sound when he's singing. Brian & Roger didn't want someone who looks or sounds like him, or they would accidentally call him Freddie and compare him to Freddie all the time. I don't like Adam's voice on Queen's songs at all. But let's respect their choice. Marc has done an amazing job on mimicking Freddie's voice, while Adam is more energetic on stage than Marc. They chose Adam. Let's move on, at the end of the day we all end up only listening to the original recordings of Freddie and Queen
I have a whole different view of you now. I just figured you would be some pompous ass who got lucky in life and happened to sing like one of the greatest artists of all time. Nope, you seem really down to earth. I really enjoyed your video and your voice. Rock on dude, thanks for keeping Freddie Mercury alive through your music, you have an awesome gift.
Marc is like an awesome singing coach. Very talented indeed. A vocal coach who good at imitating someone. Yes he sounded like Freddie M, but i hear no emotions at all, no "S" sounds at all like Freddie did with his teeth having gaps in between. Applause to cover all his songs, emotions, feelings? None
I can’t believe how many delusional comments are posted on here. I can’t figure out if they’re based on pure jealousy or if somehow their hearing is all but shit. Marc’s voice (speaking voice alone) has a rich tonal quality, and his ability to sing like Freddy is effortless which should say something about genetics in spite of natural talent. I’ve seen other videos that Marc has posted but just stumbled on this one today...now even more of a fan realizing Marc has never officially taken voice lessons. There are so many folks out there with degrees and years of studying, who have tried to figure out the nuances of the voice and how to get a certain tone. Some succeed while others fail (in their own mind firstly), and a good deal of those become cynical critics. Here is a person who just “gets it”. He doesn’t quite know the exact science of it, but he can do it with ease. Embrace this for the beauty that it is my friends. I’m blown away by his talents, and as a musician/writer I find nothing but inspiration in this video. Kudos bro! Congrats on all of your success! Cheers!
OMG! I always wanted to see someone talking about how Freddie´s way of singing changes as time goes by as accurately as you do. Congratulations from a brazilian fella.
If Marc was the front man of Queen, I would so go to their shows...that lambert guy just doesn't fit for me...his voice, his vibe...it just does not fit Queen.
I understand that they are not looking to impersonate Freddie Mercury with a copycat vocalist, but I find that Adam Lambert, although he is a great singer, does not have the tone and intensity that a rock band needs. It sounds more like a Broadway musical singer. But in the other hand if you still want to sound like a Rock band and rescue the essence of Freddie Mercury with a vocalist that has a tone and intensity closest posible to the original, then you choose Marc Martel.
This is yes. But Marc has a magnificent voice in his own way; he cannot be confused with any other voice. I don’t really like it when Marc is compared to Freddie or they say that he imitates him. Martel is a separate human, a magnificent and very cool singer, and he sings in his beautiful and divine way. This is what I loved Marc Martel for.
He imitates Freddie and this is where it started. "...I have always been a natural mimic. I just loved imitating voices that I enjoyed listening to .... George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Jeff Buckley, Bono ..... I would listen closely trying to get the vocal tone just right .... and I would do that until I felt like I could do a believable impression....."----Marc Martel
@@sasha07775 I understood that perfectly. But at the concert between the songs, Marc said that he was a little hurt. It's just that he is constantly being spoken about and this worries. The fact that Marc is perceived only as a person similar to Freddie, and not as a separate person. After all, he himself is worth a lot. This is purely my point of view.
@@НадіяЗаборовська Playing the sympathy card? Priceless. He put himself where he's at, no one else did that. When I see people saying he does not sound like Freddie, I think they are either tone deaf or its some sort of hero-worship denial thing.
He definitely sounds like Freddie, but I'd put it in the 70-80% range. There are times when it's easy to see the difference, especially when you look at the expression
@@ToddandRaquiForrest Yeah too sad he inherited nothing of Mercury's talents. A feminine voice capable of mere overrated falsettos and an overweight body that can barely shake on stage.
Sounds more like Freddie yes, but that's not what B + R wanted. Adam is not an imitator and exactly what B + R felt Queen needed. Turns out they were right. They have toured the world twice now to sold out shows. The fan and media reviews are amazing. I think Marc has found his niche in a tribute band. Good for them and much success!
As a singer throughout High School, and College, the one thing my High School Choir director taught me was to sing through from the stomach, not the neck. You are on target there. I do believe age changes your vocal chords, and smoking changes it as well. I think he was trying to belt out that voice of his because he didn’t have the lung capacity as he did when he was younger. When he was closer to passing on, like during Live Aid, you can tell he choose lower notes and didn’t carry notes as long as could of before. The one thing as a performer that all of us as past singers admirer, is he sang until the end.....modifying the notes as needed, and it was still beautiful. Thank you Freddie! We appreciate you......you made all the changes in the voice that WORKED and THAT is IMPRESSIVE! Long lives Freddie!

The Curious Case of Freddie Mercury's Teeth
Do a search on Freddie Mercury, and one of the first auto-fill suggestions that Google will give you is "freddie mercury teeth." It seems Freddie's famous overbite was just as legendary as the man himself, and the story that's been told countless times about his mouth is that it contained four extra teeth.
Freddie's Complicated Relationship With His Teeth
First, let me say that I personally don't see anything "wrong" or unattractive about Freddie Mercury's teeth.
Sometimes he would bring his upper lip down to try to cover them and during several interviews he puts his hand up to his mouth to try to hide his teeth when something makes him laugh hard.
via GIPHY
Numerous people who were close to Freddie have said that he was really self conscious about the overbite. But on stage and in music videos, he had no qualms about opening his mouth wide and even throwing his head back to unleash that astounding voice that sounded like it was summoned directly from the gods.
via GIPHY
BUT...we do know that Freddie said many times that his stage persona and the real him were not the same person.
This is another teeth trait I have in common with my favorite performer.)
So, while wisdom teeth aren't considered "extra" teeth (although many adults need to have theirs extracted) it's possible this factoid got twisted into the "four extra teeth" story that circulates about Freddie to this day.
As it can be a genetic condition, some sources have speculated that Freddie inherited it from his mother's side of the family (if he did indeed have it.)
Freddie's Fear of the Dentist
So, you would think that if you're the biggest rock star on the planet and you're VERY concerned about wanting to keep all of your teeth to maintain your voice, that you would be going to the very best dentist in London every six months for a cleaning and check-up, right?

Marc WAS used in “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Not as an actor but, as a singer.

It’s scary how exact you sound like Freddie at times. The way you can replicate the various years of his voice. If I close my eyes it’s as if you ARE him.

I heard that due to the resemblance between him and Freddie (vocally and in a way looks-wise) the band felt it hit a little too close to home and felt uncomfortable having someone so close to the real thing. The loss of Freddie was still far too strong and so they went with Lambert instead.
MrTrainerGuy1 he isn’t the singing voice in the movie, Rami Malek sang almost all of it himself.
It's even weirder that you look like him. DNA test is in order I think
Leonardo Datore I agree
Those eyes and nose though
mαe yeah
Leonardo Datore i don’t think so. he doesn’t look like freddie to me.
@@aikonara5983 i see it in his jawline, there very similer
Noone can sing exactly like Freddie, he was special.
dayum son Nope
Marc is pretty damn close tho
@ღツ༻꧁ηενз•ηэяα꧂༺ツ ღ yes u can, freddie has a sorta rasp marc doesnt

Man, you can sing! Also, you are the love child of Freddy Mercury AND John Travolta!
Freddy and Superman, actually.
True!
Freddie Mercury and George Michael.
Enrique Ceretti Freddie
Todd & Raquel Liz Forrest FreddIE!!!
Nobody can imitate freddie mercury, everybody knows that. But he has this colour in his voice as Freddie had. A good impression!
At 3:52 I said "okay bud you've convinced me..." lol..
One of the most interesting videos on RUclips I've seen so far. Thank you!
chessysensei agree 🙌
@@capriceneman5902 i agree, also. It's what I was thinking. He needs to replace Adam Lambert. Not dissing Adam, either. I would pay top dollar to see & experience that.
Joseph Dockemeyer I’d rather see Queen with Marc to be honest
@@capriceneman5902 That's what I'm saying. Nothing against Adam, though. He's come far... I agree with you.

You look like clean-shaven Freddie
And with lighter eyes
So was Freddie himself.

No wonder you're the guy who did the singing in Bohemian Rhapsody
Queen had him make this video about the same time he was preparing to go into studio and cover Freddie's voice from Smile to LIve Aid.
NO HE RAMI MALEK DID SOME PARTS BUT THEY PROBABLY TOOK SOME OF HIS MUSIC AND EDITED TO RAMI MALEK VOICE
@@cjjohnson7178 u have to be stupid to Think that. "As Malek himself has revealed, he’s lip syncing - but it’s not actually his voice."
"tracks of Mercury's voice from his studio recordings, mashed together with Canadian Christian rock singer Marc Martel, whose ability to copy Mercury's voice is so uncanny you really just have to hear it for yourself."
Saw you in concert in Sacramento !!! You were awesome loved your dancing 😊I think your really cool .
He’s got the jaw, mouth, nose, and eyebrows.’ And then when he said how people told him how he sounded like Freddie, I thought ‘okay this guy better be good or I’m going to be disappointed.’ Then when he sang, I just thought, ‘yep, Freddie definitely had a secret son, and I am watching a video made by him.’
i CHOKED AT UR PICTURE SKSKS damn gee
You have a fantastic set of mammory glands
I have wondered about that too. Freddie jr..☺
Omg what did you do to Gerard. Lol I love it.

Rami Malek?
Rami!!!!!😱😱😱😱😱😰😩😰😩😰😩😂
Adam Lambert
Back then rami was not considered yet, it was probably Sasha Baren Cohan
It's Rami Malek lol
This is EXTREMELY helpful for imitators/impersonators; thank you so much for sharing, marc; very well done:) i would also think that for those who have tried and tried, and can't do it (like me): don't feel bad, because i think if freddie were still around today, and we hadn't been robbed of him, i think he would want us as entertainers to just try our best as ourselves, and just keep going:)
This man. He gets it. Like I never connected with anyone else about that journey Freddie's voice took until today. There is hope in the world of vocalists yet.
“I’ve never really taken vocal lessons,” wait, say that again?
And nor did Freddy by the way...
Thats a bummer, because we mortals would like to believe we can achieve the same level of awesomeness if we just practice. But apparently its just genetics 🥺🥺😔😔
Neither did I...
andremesq honestly freddie did not have healthy vocal technique though he really blew out his voice at times. Its pretty impressive that marc is able to have such healthy technique wo vocal lessons- singers w/o lessons can sound amazing(like fred) but usually damage their chords and get nodules
That floored me 😱
Marc- As a classical/rock pianist- I hear you- You are amazing..I don't have a lot of the mimic when I sing- but I can almost do any voice( like a Rich Little impersonator) You really nail it. TY for your amazing inspiration and piano! Your musicality is tremendous!
Man, what really nailed it for you is your vibrato. So uncannily like Freddie.
Damn it, Marc - it's a pleasure to hear you sing. What an AMAZING voice you have.
I wonder why Brian May and Rodger Taylor haven’t hired him as their frontman.
AKOM 20 Who do you think they would rather have, Adam Lambert, a fantastic singer, or Marc Martel, an even better singer who can bring almost the same energy to the concert as Freddie could.
AKOM 20 True.
They don't want a Freddie reincarnate. LOL.
Lack of gayness probably...
I don't thing Roger and Brian wanted someone that replicated Freddy's style out of respect or something.
Marc looks a lot like superman! To me he is basically superman. He is such an amazing artist! Be blessed Marc!
I stood in front of Freddie/Queen here in Seattle at the Seattle Center Coliseum for two+ hours and it was something that is beyond any description.
Adam Lambert is a great singer, I’ll say that. But he does not have the voice of Queen. You, you, sir, you got the damn ticket.
@Salvation Salvatoré
- Maybe Adam Lambert is already a Queen? LMFAO 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
horhepancho brother I’m sure he already sucks many
Bold of you to assume he is not a virgin
Finally someone that shares the same opinion
Marc's first band was named Downhere, as in down to earth, always meeting fans after concerts, signing autographs, selfies, for free.
He's also a believer that helps
Cheers!
I love Freddie to pieces I will say this with as much respect as I can the congestion was probably easily explanainable....
This guy really knows his queen.
8:00 vs. 8:06 Excellent demonstration of tone difference. Spot on.

Iva T yeah, I don't really like him either, but I'd still absolutely go to a concert just to hear Brian or Roger play.
I just saw Marc in concert, BEAST of a show let me tell you!!!
I agree Marc is a perfect fit for queen, Adam is a good singer don’t get me wrong but I just can’t really see him singing with queen.
Amen
He not only vocally imitates Freddie, but also copies many of his signature stage movements. So if oyu want to perceived as a separate person. you distance yourself from those comparisons, not align yourself with them.
@@sasha07775 Everyone has their own opinion. I think so, and you are different. I do not want to continue this argument
@@НадіяЗаборовська Are you arguing because I wasn't. I was merely stating if you want tube known as an individual then you do your own thing, not copy someone else. Not rocket science.
Discerning voices is sort of my super power. You can play a word or two to me and I can always ID who said it (as long as I know the voice). This guy is the first and only person I can say that sounds 90-95% perfect pitch Freddie Mercury. When I see people saying he does not sound like Freddie, I think they are either tone deaf or its some sort of hero-worship denial thing.
He definitely sounds like Freddie, but I'd put it in the 70-80% range. There are times when it's easy to see the difference, especially when you look at the expression
...so he looks like Superman and sounds like Freddie Mercury?... is this the Supreme Human Being.
A genetic experiment gone right. Half Mercury and half Krypton.
@@ToddandRaquiForrest Yeah too sad he inherited nothing of Mercury's talents. A feminine voice capable of mere overrated falsettos and an overweight body that can barely shake on stage.
@@pantelisdalezios811 I see you posting these comments everywhere everytime someone praises Marc. You sound super jealous.
@@Alagboriel Nah I am stating the obvious. Whenever I listen to him randomly, I cant help my self but correct those bloody suckers in the comment

How did they not have you sing for Queen inside of Adam Lambert ??? Dude you are 100 times better than he is! Cudos my fellow Canadian!
Yeah, i think that is really funny singing with a voice clone of your dead best friend
Kudos*
Well good singer but you need spirit in your soul and Adam Lambert have it thats it i have seen them live and its goes like rockin yeah
I don't think he'd fit inside of Adam Lambert
