Sometimes, you can only make the best decision about something by working with what you have in front of you. You win some and you lose some. While I have tremendously enjoyed my Honda Rebel 500, in this video I discuss why I decided to purchase a Honda Rebel 500 instead of a Honda Rebel 1100. Did I make the right choice? Do I regret my decision? Would I have been better off starting as a new rider on the Honda Rebel 1100? I answer these questions and more in today’s video, you won’t want to miss it!

Are you in Washington state? I live in the Columbia Gorge on the Oregon side but I ride in Washington a lot. It’s right across the river.
I ride the 1100 and my wife rides the 500.
My first bike was a 454 back in 1986, and even though I ride a larger bike now, I still pine for my first bike.
Great videos!
Well, I get where you're coming from with price. I started with 1100, and while I have double the motor, I also have double the price tag. But I'm also not on a $30,000 Harley! That being said, after 6 months on my 1100, I can't see being stuck on a 500. 1100 is worth every extra penny. I rode in rain mode for the first two weeks, after that I hit standard. Besides, you can set your own user mode. And I 100% agree getting the manual. Feels so much better at lower speeds than the DCT.
Fair point for sure, the Rebel 1100 on its own is a very affordable bike for what you are getting. Harley and Indian equivalents are 5k+ more.
Fair enough! I do like the idea of getting the 1100 and growing into it a bit more than you can with the 500.
More nimble, cheaper insurance, lighter weight, etc. make the 500 a better choice for many people IMO. The 500 appeals to a lot of people, who aren't wanting to tour the country or mimic the Harley crowd (so to speak)
Those are great points for sure! It’s a perfect bike to enjoy on shorter trips that has the ability to keep up if you do want to take it on longer rides.
What’s the name of your windshield? I like it l.
Nothing wrong with a 500cc bike. It will go anywhere you need it to with minimal expense.
Not at all! 500cc is great, I completely agree. I can take my Rebel 500 anywhere I want no issues.
The rebel 500 is light and looks good. I actually prefer it's looks with the fatter front tire with the smaller front wheel. That being said the 1100 motor with the 270 firing order is pretty nice.
Yeah, it is very easy to move around and feels great on the road. Fair enough, I’m sure that extra power is amazing in different situations.
wait is that car infront of u at 2:46 missing the rear windows?
I think it rolls down on the 4Runners, but it could just be missing haha.
Evergreen as in Evergreen Colorado
Nope, not Evergreen Colorado… I’m sure it’s great there though!
You should do a vid when u borrow a 1100 and put it in rain and review it
Yeah, that’s a great idea. I would love to have a Rebel 1100 for a weekend to really dig into things like that.
@@evergreenmoto Yes! Or even borrow one for a few hours from a dealership just for the vid!
@@obscure323 I’ll see what I can do!
